Further research found this handy little app: iPhone Backup Extractor:

Worked like a charm, all I have to do is rename all the goofy assigned filenames.
Note this only works on Mac, so I backed up my iPhone on the Mac (I DID NOT SYNC IT as it is already synced to our ...

How do I extract data from an iPhone backup?
I just recorded a 7.2 GB video using Belkin's LiveAction app and grip on my iPhone 4s. Now, how do I get it off of my phone? Seems like I should be able to decode Apple's 'hidden' files on the 'ol PC and get the video out, but what do I use to do it?

Re: Where are all the files on my iMac
I don't really understand why 10.8 hides the actual file structure there, I am really used to the old way and it just adds another layer to the confusion.

Re: iPhone 4S 6.1
I also have a 4s and really enjoy it. What is the benefit of jailbraking besides more 'unapproved' software? I am wanting a signal strength meter for iOS but I guess it is only available after jailbraking .

Apple Store is down again! Anybody know why?
The Apple Store went down during the presentation of new products the other day (we expected that) Now as of 10:30 MDT it's down again and I can't figure out why.

Uh, Surface so far as consumers are concerned is pure vaporware. You should definitely not put off buying decisions for something Microsoft has not released yet. Remember Windows Phone? Zune anyone? Heck I would not put off a buying decision for something Apple may or may not be releasing.

Re: Why has no one noticed that the MacBook has been dropped!
Problem is for the $999 of a MacBook you only get an 11" Air. To get the equivalent of the old MacBook in a MacBook Air you need to pay $1299 for the 13" Air + 79 for the Superdirve, then the 13" MacBook Pro is the better alternative. But it is still $1199 not the 13" MacBook's $999 or $1099 ...

Why has no one noticed that the MacBook has been dropped!
For the first time since the iBook there is no longer a low-end laptop in the Apple lineup. And no one noticed.

I've seen the best prices on Craigslist, desperate people needing money fast. I saw a MacBook 1.83 GHz (the first core2duo) on the Boise Craigslist for $300! But you gotta check EVERY DAY and have the cash in hand.

Re: iPod Touch 2nd Gen Home Button not working
OK, doing some diag work on the iPod, here is what I come up with:
Shorting the Z shaped contact (under the home button location) to the frame makes the home button work so that part is OK.
I can't seem to get the small circuit under the home button to work, I checked the old 'midframe' with the ...

iPod Touch 2nd Gen Home Button not working
My beautiful iPod Touch (well not really beautiful, kinda dinged up, I bought it used) Home Button stopped working after I attempted my last repair of the LCD (the new LCD is gorgous by the way!). Attached the flexible PC board in place on the metal part of the 'Midframe' (the plastic frame with the ...

Re: Safari 4 Beta on Older Machines
As far as making websites, I do it on a semi-professional level and I never use flash in anything. Flash is not a "requirement" for most types of business websites and I usually recommend clients avoid it.
I agree, it is unnecessary. There is really nothing 'useful' on a web page you cannot do ...

Re: Safari 4 Beta on Older Machines
I'm glad to hear that Safari 4 improves performance on G3 class machines. One of my main gripes with some older G3 hardware is that, while word processing, emails and IMs still work as they always have, something seemingly so trivial as web browsing is proving more and more tedious.

Safari 4 Beta on Older Machines
I have been using Safari 4 on my 400MHz Pismo since the beta was released and all I can say is it is amazing! When you aren't doing anything with it is barely uses ANY processor! Still can't play videos, but that is to be expected...

Cheap Macs from China?
I got an email from a friend that looked like spam so I checked the headers out and looked for tracking beacons and everything looked OK. It directed me to a Chinese website that has some amazing deals on previous generation Mac products and a lot of other electronics.

Can an 'Upgrade' disk be converted to a 'Full Install' Disk?
I have only used OS 9 for years on my PowerBook 3400 then I finally bought a couple of 'parts' Pismos in January and got one working.
I bought OS X 10.3 from a guy on eBay advertised as 'full retail version'. Well, it was but it was an UPGRADE!
So I installed 10.0. 10.3 won't upgrade from 10.0 ...
