Choppy YouTube Video Imac G4

My Imac 800 MHz PowerPC g4 with 512 MB SDRAM plays youtube videos extremely choppy to the point where it cannot be watched. Is there anything i can do to fix this problem or is my computer just too old?

If you can run a fairly recent browser (like recent Firefox or Safari versions), you could try signing in on the HTML 5 beta for YouTube and test that. It should make a difference not using Flash. It will be slower to load at first, but should play smoother.

To elaborate on what chasm said, HTML5 video is controlled by QuickTime on Macs, which should run much better than Flash-based video, especially if you have a nicer video card.
