This may not help you, but here goes: Omnis 2 has a multi-update
feature that can be used for mass inputs. For example, if most people
live in New Jersery, that can be multi-updated in the state field for
all or some subset of records.
I do know that they are updating their insert mode for batch inputs -
currently you have to click on insert for each new item. In the update,
you should be able to go into insert mode and stay there until you
click out of it. Or maybe they meant that they are giving the
feature as you discribed. I am not sure.

Omnis 3 will be coming out in March. This may have the feature that
you want. You can try calling them: Oganizational Software Co., Inc. in
California. I do not have their phone number, but I am sure you can
find an ad in either MACWORLD or one of the other journals.
Hope this helped.
