Wipe OSX off an iMac

Post by jlatimer » April 16th, 2009, 3:52 pm

I'd like to remove OSX from an iMAC and restore the original OS9 I have the OS9 disk, but there isn't enough room to install both. How do I remove OSX?

Well, if you want to erase everythign on your hard disk, boot up from the OS 9 CD by holding down 'C' on startup, find the program called Disk Utility, launch it, select your hard disk, and initialize (aka format) your disk using Mac OS Extended format.

Afterwards, you can install Mac OS 9 fresh using the installer on the same CD. But why would you want to go back to Mac OS 9? Mac OS X is far superior. There are many things Mac OS 9 cannot handle anymore, especially related to the internet.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
