Subject: [*] 8-bit gray array display for MATLAB v3.x

Attatched is a binhexed self-extracting archive which contains the
application, ArrayDisplay for the Macintosh, along with several support
files. This application gives users of pre-version4 MATLAB the ability to
view their arrays as 8-bit grayscale images. It should be of use to the
Mac-based education community as many schools stay one version behind in
order to save money.

Subject: [*] CivCheat 2.0; a cheating utility for the game Civilization

Requires: System 7 and Civilization

This program has been tested very little, so use at your own risk. If you
find a bug - or just want to request a new feature - let me know.

Drag and drop a saved Civ game onto the app and it will prompt you for the
changes you want to make. Possible options include adding gold, settlers, or
technologies. When you add a technology, all prerequisites are added as
well. There is also an option to make the entire map visible.

You can apply the changes to all civs instead of just your own. This allows
the game to be played more rapidly without making it unfair. I typically
start with 10 settlers, 1000 gold, and Navigation for everyone. The makes
the beginning part of the game (which I find very tedious) to fly by while
still presenting a challenge.

This program simply applies a series of cracks that have been collected
since Civilization came out. These all work on Civ 1.08. The one problem is
that some cracks crack the same area that others do making things unreliable.
To be on the safe side don't crack two things that are similiar, such as
Everything

Subject: [*] cronX10-1.0b4; controls X10 modules

This program controls X10 modules to turn on and off appliances,
lights, thermostats, and anything else that can be controlled by
X10 devices. This program requires a model CP290 X10 computer
interface along with the appropriate modules for the devices you
wish to control. X10 is available through a variety of sources and
both Radio Shack and Leviton make X10 components. Instead of having
to run wires to these modules to control them, the X10 protocol
runs over your existing AC wiring. You just plug in (or wire in)
the module and go.

This is Crystal Ball. It is your friend. It wants to help you
make decisions. Just open up Crystal Ball and ask it for advice.
It will graciously answer your questions with the utmost ease.
Crystal Ball is friendly, it doesn't require lots of fancy hardware
requirements. Crystal Ball needs only a Mac running System 7 or
higher in order to run. Crystal Ball is 32 bit clean and runs
perfectly on a 68040 based Mac.

New things in version 3.0:

* Two additional sounds
* COLOR!
* Better Movable Dialog Box for changing visions
* Moving Text!

PowerPC version can be made if people request it.

Subject: [*] Ecology (Islamic Perspective) 1.0 hypercard stack

"Ecology: An Islamic Perspective" is an 8-bit color hypercard stack created
using Hypercard 2.2 and saved as a standalone application (so that
Hypercard is not needed to view the stack).

The stack examines the contention that the "traditional" religions
(Judaism, Christianity, Islam) are in large measure responsible for the
ecological crises sweeping the world today, because of the "human-centered"
(anthropocentric) philosophies they propagate. This stack examines the
Islamic perspective on this question.

Before running this stack, select the stack icon and open its "Get Info"
window. Set the "Minimum size" for the applications memory to at least 2
megabytes (2048) or higher if you can spare the RAM. If you open the stack
and there is no color, then keep increasing the application's memory size
till it does open in color.

EjectDisk allows you to unmount and eject any floppy disks currently

This version checks to see if a DA is the frontmost process, and if it is

- the backspace key did not always work correctly
- the deletion of pictures had some problems.

Subject: [*] Exercise Log 1.12; a HyperCard stack

By Maurits van der Veen.

Version Changes
1.12 - minor added features in total calculation, pulse/weight info
- small bug fixes in Tally section
- layout change on Global Info card
- corrected some problems with Help text
1.11 - fixed bug in bug fix for version 1.10 (oops)
1.10 - bug fix in weekly totals calculation

Exercise Log is a Hypercard-based activities log that lets you store
information about each workout you do in an unlimited number of sports.
It offers an attractive and useful middle ground between paper-based logs
(in which you have to do all the tallying, etc. yourself) and spread-sheet
models (which tend to be too rigid for free-form information entry).

For each workout, there are fields for date, sport, workout-type, effort,
distance, time, pace, course-name, details, and description, weather, and
shoes used (or inline skates, or bike equipment, etc.).
In addition, your resting pulse rate and weight for the day can be entered.
The log will automatically calculate pace, and add up distances and number
of workouts in a week or year.

Shortcuts allow you to quickly enter new workout info for standard
and to navigate easily between different workouts and sections in the log.
Workouts can be displayed in a convenient weekly overview format, or can
be selected to be listed in a tally based on criteria you specify
(including effort-level, sport, workout type, or equipment).

Import and export facilities are provided to move data between logs and
to and from data files that can be used in Excel, etc. Thus, if you already
have an on-line exercise data base, you need not type all the data in anew.
In addition, rather than relying on Hypercard's somewhat anemic charting
capabilities, you can just export the relevant data and chart it any way
you like in a spreadsheet program.

A detailed Help section explains all options and features.

This stack requires Hypercard 2.0 or above, but will run best in 2.1
or above. It uses the Times and Palatino fonts, and has been tested
on most common setups. It is shareware, which means that if you decide
to use it (after evaluation), you are required to send me $8. This is
significantly less than most other software exercise logs, and about
equivalent to the cost of most paper-based logs, such as those produced
by Runner's World and Bicycling Magazine. I am not expecting to get rich off
this, just to get back a little for all the hours I put into perfecting
this log instead of pursuing my graduate studies :-(

Address comments, criticisms, suggestions for improvement, etc. to:
[email protected], and send the shareware fee to:

Type / creator list 28-August-1994

This updated and revised list of 1169 differnet types of files was compiled
and editted with a lot of effort. It is based on the contents of MAC disks
I use at home and at work. I did my best to make the list as accurate and
full as possible, but can assume no responsibilty for errors in the list.
The "official" list is in the hands of Apple=81, and is not in the public
domain.

Many of the entries are for ShareWare programs. The codes these ShareWare
programs use may contradict with codes "registered" at Apple=81. So be
carefull.

The information is presented in various ways.
1. 6 MS Excel 4.0 files.
2. 6 Tab delimitted text files.

The full list is given in 3 files. Same list, but each is sorted by a
different key.
3 other files include sub-sets of the information.

=46iles included are:

ReadMe (this file)
Application list
Cdev's / DAs / INITs list
Creator list
Type/creator by creator
Type/creator by name
Type/creator by type

This may be included in any BBS or CDROM, as long as it is presented in the
complete form.

Please send $5 CASH ONLY,
or at least 10 new entries for the list (for commercial software please) to:

Subject: [*] GLMStat 1.2.2; a statistics package

GLMStat is a statistical program for analysing generalised linear models.
It provides a macintosh interface but otherwise operates in a similar
fashion to GLIM but with less features (most of which you probably won't
miss). Features of GLMStat are
- spreadsheet style data entry
- Normal, Poisson, Binomial and Gamma models with appropriate links and
specification of convergence parameters
- Scatter and Residual plots
- Output of deviance, parameter estimates, residuals and parameter
correlations
- Saving of data files complete with all model specifications.
- printing of data, graph and results.
- Online Help (under the apple menu) unfortunately there is currently no
other documentation.
- includes example data files for most examples in two of the texts.

The programme is shareware with a very reasonable fee of $AUD30 for
individual copies or $AUD120 for site licences. ($1AUD is
approximately $US0.70). Further details in the "read me" file.
Unregistered copies are initially fully functional but after 28th
February 1995 unregistered copies will have Save, Save As, Import and Paste
disabled.

This version of GLMStat (1.2.2) has the following changes
- Fix bug in Generate resulting in wrong columns in list
- Fixed bug causing scroll bars to be inactive after revert to saved
- Improved speed of Define dialog

Subject: [*] Janus 0.1; a PPC code editor

Here is the first public release of Janus (0.1). It's not pretty, but
it's functional. I am the author.

>From the READ ME, "What is Janus?":

Think of this as the PPC native equivalent of the ResEdit CODE editor.

In layman's terms, Janus is a fat binary (of course) which lets you find
the PowerPC native code corresponding to 680x0 code. Now you can patch
your favorite native games to give yourself infinite ammo and lives too!

NOTE: This is not for the faint of heart. If you can figure out the
680x0 patches on your own, this is for you. If not, find somebody who
can.

In technical terms, Janus is (in its current incarnation) a reference
tracer for PowerPC-native code. This means it can search for references
to a Toolbox trap (aka "symbol" in the new PPC way of doing things) and
references to a subroutine, and can tell you what trap is being
dispatched by what subroutine.

(Note: PowerPCDisas is included in this archive, since it's pretty much
necessary right now.)

This Stuffed BinHex'ed archive contains

1. MinimumHome App; HyperCard 2.2 player + Stack/Apps Launcher
2. MinimumHome App manual;
3. PhoneDialer HC; PhoneBook+dialer
4. PhoneDialer HC manual;
5. ReadMe

I got some complaint that my Rescue George hypercard puzzle
does not run on their HyperCard 2.1 players. I looked through
info-mac but I did not find a HC2.2 player. I thought I would
upload one, but then I was not sure whether HyperCard 2.2
player itself was redistributable. So here is my shot.

MinimumHome App is a stand alone HyperCard2.2 application with
which you can play HC2.2 stacks. Since it does not look after
many things a full HyperCard does, it has an added benefit of
being faster than the full version.

PhoneDialer HC is a HC2.2 version of phonebook+phone dialer.

I've put some effort into the manuals as well. They are kind of
neat. Please look through them to find details as well as
licensing agreement.

Enjoy,

Natsu

Subject: [*] Slide Presenter 1.0; a presentation tool

Created with Macromedia Director 4.0, Slide Presenter 1.0 is designed to turn
your computer into a powerful presentation tool. It allows the import of Pict
files at any color depth, and of any size. Once imported, the list of PICT
files can be arranged and displayed in any order. Additional tools such as
the "Colored Chalk tool" allow the user to draw on top of the slide to circle,
or point out important parts. This "Colored Chalk" can be erased with a touch
of the DELETE key - leaving the slide underneath unaltered. Slide
presentations can be saved and used again at a later date, and the pictures
are integrated into one file which is easily transferable from one computer to
another.

Slide Presenter will work with any display device (including overhead
projection panels) capable of displaying a 640x480 (13" Mac monitor) picture.

System requirements: Mac with 13" or larger monitor, system 6.0.5 or newer,
and at least 4 megs of free RAM.

Subject: [*] Sparkle 2.1.3 A mac-look-and-feel MPEG and QT player and converter

This version makes the following changes to Sparkle 2.1.2
* Bugs were fixed
-Sometimes when closing a window that had an MPEG playing an error
message would result.
-Sometimes when playing an MPEG in realtime an error message or a
crash would result.
* When saving an MPEG file as a QuickTime movie I now use half-pixel
calculations which are a little slower but improve the quality of the
image a bit.

This version
* is not PPC native
* does not support sound
* does not support apple events
* does not support online help
These are all high priorities, pretty much in that order.

As always, if you find any bug or anomaly in this code please tell me.
The sooner you tell me, the sooner I'll fix it.
As always there remain a few rough edges to this program, though I hope
most of them won't be too distressing to users. Like previous rough
edges, they'll be done away with in time.

You used to be able to get a list of public NNTP addresses by fingering
[email protected] but he has stopped doing that. It seems that as
soon as a public NNTP host is advertised the load swamps the host. You can get
new access using gopher (do a Veronica search on USENET and follow them up) but
I admit that's not as nice as using NewsWatcher or Nuntius. If you are
desperate you could see where people are posting from and try that host.
Tedious, but you might be lucky.

[ethan's reply followed]

Having done more disk restores from backup than I care to remember, I
would like to add some comments about possible surprises after
"restoration":

1. Numerous aliases no longer resolve.

2. Some or all of Suitcase's links to remote font (etc.) files can be
lost.

3. Programs using registrations that depend on specific Volume data no
longer function (without re-entry of long registration strings).

4. All custom (user-added under System 7) folder icons can be destroyed.

5. Window positions, and icon layouts within them, can be completely
"forgotten."

6. Directory Assistance (bundled with Norton Utilities) loses all saved
file and folder associations. (Does anybody know a way around this?)

7. Tapes made using the built-in hardware data compression of one brand
of DAT drive usually will not be compatible with the hardware compression
of another brand of drive.

8. Although I have been told that Retrospect's software-compressed tapes
are compatible across drive brands, my tapes made on a WangDAT will not
read properly on the "Apple" (HP 1533A, version 9401) internal drive that
came installed on a particular WGS 9150. A "Check Storage Integrity"
(Verify) of these WangDAT tapes under Retropspect for WorkGroup Servers
2.1i will show an initial group of files to be OK, after which it reports
a series of unrecoverable errors (the tapes still verify perfectly on
their originating WangDAT, however).

9. In the reverse situation, Apple/HP (software-compressed) Retrospect
tapes inserted into the WangDAT were initially ejected without explanation
by the drive. (Subsequent mounting under the direct control of Retrospect
was successful, however.)

The upshot is that in addition to having redundant backups, one should
also test the *restore* strategy BEFORE a major catastrophy occurs. One
can have multiple copies of the finest, most complete backup tapes, and
still not be able to find a compatible tape drive - at least in a
reasonable amount of time - for doing the restore.

Likewise, if one's backup software is rudimentary, the restore that it
accomplishes may be received with limited enthusiasm by the end-user.

If at all possible, have a *pre-tested* plan for restoring data to a
completely new hardware setup - after catastrophic loss of all original
hardware. The fewer surprises here, the better!

Best regards,

Traci Ingram

Subject: Aldus Installer nightmare!

There was great joy when I received the upgrade disks for the PowerPC
version of Aldus PageMaker 5.0 - and I gave the disks to the lady working
on our office Mac for installation. Should not be a big problem, she knows
how to do that.

After about twenty minutes she came into my office and said that something
was wrong - she could not install it on the Application partition of the
hard drive. I suggested to her to try the System partition, since some
applications don't like to be on a separate partition during installation
- just like Claris' "MacWrite Pro". So she went - and here is the story
what happened during installation.

She put in disk 1, started the installer, entered all things which were
necessary, and then some files were copied. Then the disk 1 came out and
the Mac requested - DISK 1! Put it back in - and it stayed there nearly
forever. I then decided to eject the disk "manually" by pressing
Command-Shift-1. This helped, and now the Mac (or the installer) asked
for disk 2.

Then again - disk 2 came out, the Mac requested disk 1. Put in disk 1,
came out again, requested disk 2, came out, requested disk 1 - and at the
end disk 1 was in and had to be ejected again manually.

Then the same story with disk 3, disk 4, disk 5, disk 6 and disk 7. The
only difference was that the higher the disk number, the more times had we
to shuffle between the "real" disk and disk 1. To put it in a math
formula: 2*n^2, where n is the number on the disk label. The result is
for disk 1: 2, for disk 2: 8, for disk 3: 18
for disk 4: 32, for disk 5: 50, for disk 6: 72
for disk 7: 98

Don't know if these figures are really accurate, but it comes near to it.
We spent one hour taking out and putting in disks until the installation
was complete. It was a nightmare.

We then decided not yet to install the PowerPC version of FreeHand - which
we got at the same time, but delay this for another day.

So if anyone at ALDUS is out here somewhere, here are my questions:

HOW CAN YOU DARE TO CHARGE 505.75 GERMAN MARKS FOR A PAGE MAKER UPDATE
WHOSE INSTALLATION PROGRAM IS NOT WORTH 5 CENTS ?

WHY ARE THE ITEMS SHIPPED NOT TESTED BEFORE ?

WHAT MEASURES ARE TAKEN TO EXCLUDE SUCH THINGS IN THE FUTURE ?

WHO PAYS FOR THE UNNECESSARILY TIME-CONSUMING PROCESS OF INSTALLATION ?

CAN WE EXPECT BETTER SERVICE ONCE THE MERGER ALDUS - ADOBE IS DONE,
OR WILL ADOBE'S LEVEL FALL DOWN TO THAT OF ALDUS (WHICH OBCIOUSLY IS
"BELOW ZERO") ?

Waiting for response.

Has anyone else had this same experience? Can anyone recommend a

the drive on after booting the computer, it won't mount any disks.

Since it is basically a NEC drive, I was wondering if there were some
other drivers I could use for it, or perhaps even use the Apple drivers.

If you haven't read editor Stewart Alsop's column in this week's InfoWorld,
he says that Lotus Notes (Notes Mail) randomly and predictably hangs his
Duo 250. In fact he says he experiences regular freezes that he attibutes
to flaky memory management problems that seem a particular problem on his
Duo.

I wonder if the diagnosis is on track. It seems to me that a hard disk
driver that's not competely comfortle with PB power management could also
be a source of freezes.

Mr. Alsop also says that he's the only user in the world to experience
crashes with Notes for the Macintosh (a challenge if I ever read one).

Any thoughts, experiences, alternative theories of the crime anyone?

If I remember my hardware correctly, this is not possible on a traditional
desktop computer of any kind. The HD is designed to spin all the time and
the hardware does not have the capability to be stopped by software; in
other words, there is no "softswitch".

I have discovered a way to get e mail into your books pretty.
I get the text file into bbedit and wrap each selected paragraph into
a line 2000 characters wide, left arrow to deselect and then insert tab.
I've got this down to a paragraph selection and then quickeys constrcuted
f14 keystroke. Then the text wraps pretty into the book.
Hope you enjoy.

If you are using the NuBus EtherPortII(i) version, that works with the
Intel chipset, you may safely assume that you are out of luck. I tried
every available driver that looked like EP something, but it did not work

There has been some takeovers in Etherland, and Shiva/Novell/Dayna did

We have seen "Al Bloom has a bad day" posts every so often for years. When

Unfortunately, I find myself toying with MY flame thrower as I read the
above. This is unadulterated *expletives deleted* This is not the jungle
(or your balcony), it's the INTERNET!!!! A group of adult professionals
with mutual interests. I am starting to see references to the flood of
"newbies" and their detrimental effect on the quality of net traffic.
Although I believe most of the fear is "clubbiness", if not elitism, there
is some truth to the danger of an unprecedented fraction of the net
population unaware of the unwritten code of net ethics that keeps our
interactions fruitful and pleasant. I may be guilty of "Miss Grundyism"
when I go after people for rude behavior, but I think the net community
owes the newcomers the courtesy of helping them learn the ropes so they
will enjoy this resource as much as we do. Don't just whine and flame,
EDUCATE! Call it selfish, paternal, misguided, arrogant or any other
annoyed name, we cannot allow the fragile etiquette of the net to fall
apart. If it does, there will be no reason to log on. This portion of the
net remains a (possibly last) bastion of basic courtesy. Let's keep it
that way for our own benefit. Personal assaults are UNACCEPTABLE UNDER ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES REGARDLESS OF THE "STATUS" OF THE SENDER. The concept that
Al is some sort of senior bird that automatically knows all the answers and
should be allowed to "put people in their places" is contemptible, and I'm
sure Al would agree. He contributes a great deal of positive value, but
he's sometimes wrong, and sometimes cranky, and he accepts calls on either
account with a fair amount of grace. The last thing we need is DEFENSE of
behavior for which the "offender" has ALREADY APOLOGIZED!!!!

I vote that Gordon kill future messages, from any source, that are
OBVIOUSLY TACTLESS, regardless of the actual information content. He can
return them to sender with a demand they be reworded. That way, Al et. al.

Subject: QUADRA 800 talk to (old) LaserWriter Plus...?

Hi all,

I am trying to get a stand-alone QUADRA 800 to talk to a (very old)
Apple LaserWriter Plus but am having no joy whatsoever.

Here's my problem: the QUADRA is in EtherTalk mode
semi-permanently because the user is logged into a SUN W/S. Now
this user wants to have a printer so that she can output her stuff from
the SUN direct to a printer closeby (read as: in her own office). The
problem I am having is that the QUADRA doesn't recognize the
LaserWriter Plus as being a standalone printer, it demands that the
printer be hooked up through AppleTalk (it will work quite happily
through AppleTalk, i.e. an AppleTalk box straight out of the machine
into another AppleTalk box and into the Laser - but then the lady can't
simultaneously have her EtherTalk......).

I thought I could get around this by making up a direct serial cable
>From the QUADRA to the LaserWriter. Another problem here is that
the Laser has a DB-9 plug while the QUADRA has a mini-DIN-8.
However, using an old hardware guide that explained how to hook up
various machines with various peripherals ("The right connections" -
an article out of A+ Magazine, June 1986 - anybody want a copy?), I
made up a cable for the DIN-8 to the DB-9. BUT the QUADRA still won't
see the printer on the chooser.....I was expecting that by switching off
the 'AppleTalk Active' button in the CHOOSER, the MAC would 'know'
that the printer is standalone and when I choose the LaserWriter Icon,
it should ask which port it must go to (printer or modem), but no joy.

There is a switch at the back of the LaserWriter that the manual says
you change for AppleTalk / No AppleTalk, but that doesn't help
either.....

>From the manual for the Laser, it would appear that maybe the Laser
can't be used as a stand-alone printer - does anybody know if this is
the case with the 10+ year-old LaserWriter Plus? Am I wasting my time
here trying to get the direct feed going?

Besides buying the various software options I have heard are
available, is there anything else I can try?

Failing this, could someone supply me an email address for me to
contact the guys at APPLE direct....?

But *this* sounds like *your* fault, not RAM Doubler's. RAM Doubler
is really two extensions, one of which (which is called something
like RAM Doubler Loader) is invisible. Since you didn't copy that
one, you can't expect RAM Doubler to work. There may be some further
problem; a fluttering "Welcome" dialog is usually a sign that the
Mac sees two System folders and doesn't have a clear idea which one
to use.

Nonetheless, I've had new problems with 1.5; when people try to file
share to my Mac and copy something, everything freezes up. I may
revert to an earlier version myself. I am not as annoyed with these
problems as some people seem to be, since what RAM Doubler is trying
to do is some pretty iffy and tricky magic.

Not a good idea. RAMDoubler installation creates invisible files on your hard
disk, as well as the visible RAMDoubler extension. The updater may be updating
some of the invisible files. Using the new extension with the old invisible
files could be causing the problems you see.

I always use the master disk to "remove" RAMDoubler, update the master
disk, and then install from the updated master disk. I've never had any
problems, so far (touch wood). YMMV, of course.

Subject: SAM 4.0 + IIsi + 32-bit addressing conflict

I just spent considerable time and money talking to Symantec's support
people about a problem others may share. I installed SAM 4.0 the other
day, and soon began to get this message at startup: "There is a problem
getting the SAM Virus definitions from the SAM Virus Defintions file.
Either the file is not in the system folder or it is invalid!"

The SAM Virus definitions file--the current and proper version--is
indeed in the System Folder, and SAM in fact seems to know how to access
it because it does perform scans as expected (didn't find any viruses
on my disks, so I suppose that's not the acid test) but the technician
also thinks it's a false alert.

He has two other cases recorded, both--like mine--involving a IIsi with
32-bit addressing turned on. I am running System 7.1 with the 3.0 update.
The support guy said he would continue to work on the problem and get
back to me, but there is no solution at this time except turning off
32-bit addressing.

He also said that eventually SAM (the application) may refuse to run at
all.

If I get a solution from Symantec, I'll pass on whatever they tell me.

Set in any text processor the columns to 2, and have the original text
(source) in column 1, the translated text (destination) in column 2, with a
column break in between. Put a page break at the bottom of the translated
text. The only 'problem' is that your translated text may become longer
than your source, so you might have to chop up your source in smaller
pieces. (but, as you use 3/4 page as a start, you should have no problem.
How: load the source, select all, set columns to 2, walk down the text, put
a column break followed by a page break every 3/4th of a full page, go up
and translate!
You might want to change the style of either column to a language. (eg.
MacWritePro allows the language to be specified, like the colour, font and
size of the text). This helps in exporting the translation: delete all text
that has language X. (do save a copy of the combined document!)

Not too shabby, although there's no need for the brackets around them. I
do that in TidBITS to separate out machine names and email addresses that
are in running text to avoid confusion with punctuation, but when they live

MB are fragmented, and would like to find out if a program exists which
will 'defragment' RAM usage, so that I'll be able to have larger RAM blocks
available for apps. Now, the largest block is only about 4 Mb, but the
system loads into that initially, leaving the second lagest block which is
about 3 Mb (too small for Knowledge Server).

Any helpful insight appreciated!

Fat binary versions of programs get more votes from readers in
this issue, and we pass on the announcement of the latest After
Dark Module Programming Contest in which you don't even have
to be a programmer to compete. Those without expandable Macs
may be interested in PowerR's video solutions, and we look at
Farallon's Timbuktu Pro, which enables you to control a
Macintosh remotely over an AppleTalk network, via ARA, or
over the Internet.

Dear Moderator:

I don't have the address of Burn's author handy, so I am writing it to
the net. Please pass along the message.

In trying out Burn2.1 and Audio_deck_2.0.6, I encountered the following
problem, with the help of my two-year-old.

oInsert an audio CD, which automatically played by Audio_deck,
oBring the audio_deck in front, play around a bit [changing track etc.],
oBring finder to front, and drag the CD icon onto Burn on desktop,
oCD keeps playing, but a dialog box appears waving with no contect visible,
oForce quit will do nothing,
oReboot is the only way out.

Configuration:
Centris 650 8/230 with Internal Apple CD drive
System 7.1 with update 3.0 plus some extension

I initially thought this is a problem for Audio_deck, and wrote to David.
On a 2nd thought, I would rather say it's burn's problem, thus this posting.

Thanks.

Tao
