Subject: [*] Digital Address Book
This file is a HyperCard stack which I created. I would really
appreciate it if you would put it among you library of HyperCard
files. If you use descriptions, here is a fairly long one:
The Digital Address Book is one of the most powerful shareware
contact managers available, it was developed over almost a year of
work, and it integrates many useful features that help manage your
contacts to your specifications. Your contacts can be sorted,
marked, printed, imported and exported to text files, found using a
powerful find feature, indexed into easy to access lists, and more.
The Digital Address Book is easy to use and yet powerful, making
this the ideal address book for either home or business uses. It's
simple design is self-explanatory, but if you need any help, there
is a built in help section which should make things easier.
Major features of The Digital Address Book 1.5:
*Sorting by first or last name, company, e-mail address, or the date
the contact was created. Your sorting may be performed A to Z or Z
to A.
*Printing your contacts. There are many different formats to choose
>From when printing.
*Importing & Exporting. You can export your contacts to a text
file, which can be viewed by TeachText. This text file can then be
imported back into the address book. This feature us useful for
storing contacts that you rarely need to access. When you do need
to access them you can import them back into the address book.
*Creating an index. When you create an index of your address book
you are shown a list of all the contacts in your database. To
navigate directly to a specific contact double-click on the desired
line. The index contains the name of the contact, their company,
and their first phone number.
*Finding your contacts. The find command in The Digital Address
Book is easy to use, and performs like the find command in many word
processors.
*Sectioning. You may organize your contacts into sections which you
can name whatever you want.
*Marking your contacts. This allows you do delete your contacts in
bunches, index only selected contacts, or print only the marked
cards. To mark a card click on the checkbox in the lower left hand
corner of the screen with the word "Marked" beside it.
*Scrolling "Notes" field.

Subject: [*] Exile: Escape From The Pit v1.3.1
"exile n. 1. Enforced removal from one's native country. 2. The state
or circumstance of being in Exile."
Above ground, there is only one nation: The Empire. That's all
it's called. What need is there for fancy names when there's only
one game in town?
The Empire maintains order at all costs. Misfits, magical
creatures, and petty criminals of all sorts are unwanted, and the
Empire has one tried and true way of disposing of them...
They are sent through a one-way teleporter into the
Underworld. And you are considered misfits.
There are hundreds of miles of tunnels under the surface
world, filled with creatures fantastic and mundane, all scrabbling
for the same limited food and limited space. It is into this hostile,
war-ravaged land that you are sent to find your fortune. Or just
try to survive.
Exile boasts intricate game machinery and an enormous, highly detailed
world. Among its features:
* An enormous cave system, filled with special encounters and
almost 80 towns and dungeon levels.
* Many, many people to talk to and puzzles to solve.
* Multiple game objectives. Win the game in one way, or several.
* Elegant, skill based character generation system. No character
classes - customize your characters as much as you want.
* Full auto-mapping.
* Ultima-like top-down view.
* First half of game available, at full functionality, without
paying. Play many of the towns and dungeons for free.
* _Extensively_ tested and debugged. You may be my customer,
but you won't be my beta tester.
Exile is $25 shareware. It requires System 7, a 13" monitor, and 256
color quickdraw (it will run with 16 colors, but the graphics will be
very ugly.). It takes up 3 MB on disk and requires 2 MB RAM.
Exile is compatible with AV and 68000 series (eg Classic, SE) macs.
A hint booklet is available for $6.50.

Subject: [*] Exile II: Crystal Souls v1.0.3
Fantasoft, the makers of Realmz, and Spiderweb Software present Exile II:
Crystal Souls, the sequel to the shareware fantasy role-playing hit Exile:
Escape From the Pit!
Exile II: Crystal Souls is a huge, highly detailed shareware fantasy
role-playing game for the Macintosh! Although Exile II is a sequel to
Exile, it is designed to be completely playable as a stand-alone game,
with absolutely no experience with Exile required.
Exile II features a simple, elegant interface, a deep, fascinating game
system, and excellent graphics and sounds. Explore over a hundred towns and
dungeon levels, meet scads of characters, and fulfill many missions, some
tiny, some enormous, as you attempt to complete one (or all) of several
game-winning quests. Complete the game in one way, or several!
And, if enough adventures for three full games isn't enough, Exile II:
Crystal Souls has an intricate plot, full of twists, turns, and the fates
of three nations colliding in the subterranean nation you call home. It
truly promises all the game you could want, and then some!
The story:
The surface world is ruled by the Empire. That's what it's called -
simply the Empire. What need is there for fancy names when thereUs only one
game in town?
For many years, the Empire dealt with its misfits, its loudmouths,
its petty criminals in one way: it teleported them down into Exile:
enormous caverns and twisty tunnels stretching for hundreds of miles
under the surface of the Earth. There, the banished humans fought, worked,
and struggled to survive.
Then they struck back. With the help of several banished wizards,
they assassinated the emperor of the Empire. In return, the Empire invaded
Exile, teleporting down a massive army of well-trained soldiers and mages.
These troops are now marching through your homeland, destroying everyone
and everything they find.
If something isn't done, you are all doomed. The question is,
will someone step forward who is smart enough, strong enough, and just
plain good enough to stop the forces decimating your land?
Exile II: Crystal Souls requires a Macintosh with 256 colors, 2.5 MB free
RAM, System 7, 5 MB hard drive space, and a 13" screen. It will run on a
16 color machine, but with very ugly graphics. Exile is $25 shareware. A
hint booklet and character editor are available.

Subject: [*] gpower21
GPOWER performs high-precision statistical power analyses for the most
common statistical tests in behavioral research, that is, t-tests, F-tests,
and Chi^2-tests.
GPOWER computes
(a) power values for given sample sizes, effect sizes
and alpha levels (post hoc power analyses),
(b) sample sizes for given effect sizes, alpha levels,
and power values (a priori power analyses), and
(c) alpha and beta values for given sample sizes,

both programs.
Uses AppleScript, WordPerfect macros and FileMaker scripts to automate
selection and formatting of bibliographic citations to any formatting
style, including footnotes, endnotes or in-text citations plus bibliography
as required by the Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, or any others. Requires
system 7 and the AppleScript extension. Works with WordPerfect 3.1 and
later, and FileMaker Pro 2.1v3 and later.
A few steps to install and configure, but easy and elegant thereafter. Free.
This version, 1.1.1, has revised scripts that provide substantially faster
speed of operation, especially for larger databases, and corrected
documentation.

Subject: [*] PrinterSwitch 1.0 beta 2
Bug Fixes in Beta 2 Release:
* PrinterSwitch is disabled from the Finder in order to prevent crashes.
PrinterSwitch works from all other applications. See readme for details.
* "Error -112" bug fixed
* Modern Memory Manager Memory Access Exception bug fixed
PrinterSwitch is a system extension that allows you to easily select among
many different printers when you print documents in your applications. It
eliminates the need to use the Chooser to select a printer.
PrinterSwitch complements Apple's new Desktop Printers because it allows
you to select different print devices even if your application won't let
you drag & drop documents onto a Desktop Printer.
This is beta software. PrinterSwitch has been tested on many Macintosh
configurations, but I cannot guarantee it is 100% reliable. Please don't
use PrinterSwitch 1.0b2 if you are uncomfortable with beta software.
Brookline Software is releasing this beta software to the public so that
it may be tested across a wide range of Macintoshes, printers, and
application software. You can help speed the testing process by reporting
how well PrinterSwitch performs on your system. Please see the
accompanying Report Form to tell us how PrinterSwitch works for you.

Subject: [*] Word Connection Demo 1.0.8
This file contains a demo version of the game Word Connection.
Word Connection is an word game for children and adults who enjoy
word searches, crossword puzzles, anagrams, and board games such as
Scrabble(R) or Boggle(R). Word Connection challenges the minds of
adults and children with a variety of puzzle configurations and a
wide range of difficulty levels.
Word Connection's puzzle boards are made of hexagon, square, or
triangular shaped cells, each containing a letter. Players form
words from letters in connecting cells. Points are awarded based on
the number and size of the words found.
Word Connection includes hints to encourage you, definitions to
educate you, and solutions to inspire you! As you search for words,
the game offers hints about the words in the puzzle. At the end of
a round of play Word Connection will show you the words you missed
and the definitions of any unfamiliar words.
The full version of Word Connection offers a different puzzle every
time a round is played. In the demo version only one puzzle is
available for the small and medium size boards and the large size
puzzles are not available.
The minimum system required is a Mac Plus, system 6.0.7, and a hard
disk. Word Connection is recommended for ages seven to adult.
A new version of Word Connection is now available, called Word Foundry.

I've heard other PCI Mac users having similar problems. I haven't
encountered it myself (on a 7500) but I've got something
that--again--I've heard might help.
It's an old utility called CommCloser, long since gone from
Info-Mac and other archives. When folks begun to ask about it I
put it up at
ftp://users.aol.com/Bjulen/CommCloser.hqx
The author is Russ Nelson. I've sent him an email to inform him
about what I had done but it bounced, not surprisingly since the
Readme file seems to be from 1991. It is "whateverware". Would it
be appropriate to upload it to Info-Mac?
