iPhone 4 camera frozen

My iPhone 4 camera froze whilst taking a picture. When I go into the camera it is frozen on the part just as the picture is being taken. Also the little icon in the bottom corner for camera/video blinks and after about 7 seconds the apple sign comes up with a timer n brings u home to put in my passcode. Anybody got any help people? My iPhone also seems to be slowing down a bit, why?

This may sound obvious but sometimes one forgets: have you tried powering off your iPhone?

Yep tried that! Thanks.. Also tried to hold home key for 6 secs to reset camera.. Still the same outcome

Try this.. double-tap the home button, then in the row of running apps that appears, press hold down the camera icon until it starts jiggling with a red X button, and tap the red x button to quit it. Then FULLY turn off and turn your phone back on by holding down the sleep/power button (at the top) until you get a red "slide to power off" and slide it. Then start your phone by pressing the sleep/power button again.

What happened was your camera app crashed and your iPhone was saving it's state between restarts.
