iPhone 3G not booting
Ok so I bought an iPhone 4 today and was planning on selling my 3G. It was jailbroken,(I that means anything) I went into setting to reset it, it went through and did it but now it gets stuck at the apple screen. My computer will also not recognize it so I can't hook it to iTunes and restore it either. Is there anything that I did wrong? I'm sure there us because that would be just my luck! Lol
Thanks, Bobby

Probably the jailbreaking. It has a tendency to do things like this.boblock5 wrote:Is there anything that I did wrong?
You can try putting it into recovery mode and restoring to factory condition by following these steps:
- Turn off iPhone – Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the red slider. If you can't get the slider or your phone is frozen, simply hold down the Sleep and the Home buttons simultaneously until it powers off. Ignore this step if your iPhone is already off.
- Press and hold down the Home button for about 10 seconds until a yellow triangle with a text which says Please Connect to iTunes appears.
- Plug the iPhone into Mac or Windows PC. Release the button if you haven’t.
- Run and open iTunes if it’s not already opened yet.
- iTunes will prompt a message that says iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK.
- You will be taken to the iPhone pane. Then, click on Restore.
- Wait for the full restoration process to complete, and the iPhone will be back to the original settings state as when it left the manufacturing factory, typically a working phone again if you face any problem, unless it’s hardware related.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Did you make sure your phone is off first? Including not showing an Apple logo screen...boblock5 wrote:I holding down the home button but it is not coming up with a yellow triangle. I don't understand it...?

Yes I did, the phone won't turn all the way anyway. But the apple screen is not on.

OK, we'll go a step further and try to get your iPhone into DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode.boblock5 wrote:Yes I did, the phone won't turn all the way anyway. But the apple screen is not on.
Follow these steps:
- Plug iPhone into computer and launch iTunes.
- Make sure iPhone is off. Force it off if it's frozen.
- Hold down BOTH the power and home buttons for ten seconds, then...
- Release only the power button and continue to hold down the home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone has been detected
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
Re: iPhone 3G not booting
Ok so I got it. What I did was plug the USB into the bottom of my phone, hold the home button wile plugging into the computer than the plug into iTunes will appear on the screen, than restored it!
Figured I'd let y'all know, if you ever run into it again.

Thanks for sharing. While I was Googling your problem it seemed that there isn't any agreement on the interwebs about how best to do it. I've never had to do it myself, so I'm not sure.boblock5 wrote:Ok so I got it. Well I lied to you, it didn't work. It's still doing the same thing as before. Anything else I can try?
