Does your display's backlight illuminate? If so, what's on it? A gray screen? A question mark or symbol of some kind? Your desktop picture? Can you see the mouse cursor? Move it?
Or is it completely dark (as in not turning on at all)?

I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

It's just a blue background No symbol or question mark, not my desktop pic either. I can move the mouse and see it move around but that is it.

Re: MAC g4 problem
Shut down your Mac, then start it back up and hold down the shit key immediately after the chime. This will for Mac OS X to start in safe mode. Safe mode is a minimized version of Mac OS X, and only includes a limited number of drivers and Apple-installed startup items.
Report back if it allows you to start.
You may also want to boot your computer from a restore disc, run Disk Utility, and verify the integrity of your hard drive.
Take a look at this page on Apple's website: I see a blank blue screen when I try to start up my computer

Thanks so much, I'll go try this right now. Let you know what happens. I am also assuming you meant the "shift" key....I don't have a shit key...although with some of my work I think I should.

Tried holding down the shift key immediately after the chime and nothing happened. I'll take a look at that web site right now and see where to go from here. thank you

Apple also has a more detailed troubleshooting guide for startup problems with OS X:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
This includes attempting repair from the System installer/restore disc and/or from the CLI in Single User Mode.
If this gets you going, I highly recommend installing the appropriate version of applejack, which greatly facilitates repairs from Single User Mode.
