Itunes wont open

Post by Jakemaster » August 4th, 2010, 2:52 am

Hello

I try and open my Itunes and it tries to but after it jumps up and down about 4 times it shuts and this continuously happens except when i reboot, it does the same but shows the message searching itunes library and then shuts again. I tried reinstalling Itunes but still the same.

Thanks

First, do a permissions repair. Open Disk Utility located in Applications -> Utilities. Select your system hard drive and then click "Repair Permissions."

Reboot.

If that didn't help, then let's check if this is a user-level problem or a system-wide problem. Go into System Preferences and create a new user account on your computer. Sign into it, and launch iTunes.

If iTunes works fine on this new user account, then there is probably some sort of corruption either in your user's iTunes library or iTunes preferences.

If iTunes does not work on the new user account, then there is a more serious problem with iTunes itself.

Go ahead and check and get back to us.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

Okay, sounds like a system-wide problem. You can try COMPLETELY uninstalling iTunes and re-installing a fresh downloaded copy. Here are Apple's directions for completely uninstalling iTunes:

Sorry, but can you confirm you followed the directions I posted for totally UNinstalling iTunes before reinstalling?

AH! Okay, this is very very helpful.

So, now I need to know: have you used a program called Monolingual recently? And do you have Flip4Mac WMV Player installed?

Ah. Well, apparently iTunes doesn't like it when you do that. I have no idea what obscure component is affected, but something is -- this has been reported before.

To make iTunes work, you'll need to uninstall Flip4Mac WMV player. That's what the TS License thing is related to.

You can try RE-installing Flip4Mac WMV Player *after* you have iTunes working again to see if a fresh copy fixes the problem.
