Is this a feature or a bug?

I was happily writing a simple stack to accompany an article
in a Dutch computer magazine. I made a recipe stack (I know, boring ;)
that had four background fields, one transparent, one rectangle
and two scrolling.

But making the scrolling fields I discovered something peculiar:

When I made the scrolling fields in the background mode, they would
not show up in the card. However, is I made the fields in foreground
mode, cut and paste them into the background, they _would_ show up on
every card... Weird.

Any1 any clue?

Remark:

I know this has been discussed before, but it still is amazing...

I also made a stack to look up all Dutch area codes. All names and
area codes were in a file about 48Kb large. But when I put them
in a stack, the file-size of that stack was an amazing 450kb!!! Even
after compacting the beast. And all I used was one background and nothing
but two fields and two buttons in that background.

If Bill did such a good job on compacting pictures, he might make an
effort in compacting the stack-size in general!!!
