In Finder 1.1g:

Change the name of a file. Click on another file. Quickly, while the
Finder is changing the first file's name (accessing the disk), click on a
blank spot of the desktop and hold the mouse button down. The Finder will
not realize you let go of the mouse while it was busy.

I never noticed this until today, when it caused me to accidentally copy a
file to another disk (I went to another disk window rather than a blank spot
of desktop).
