Transferring music between computers

Hi,
Probably a pretty simple answer to this. I'd like to transfer all my Itunes music from my IMac desktop (c 2001) to the Itunes (8) on my Macbook Pro laptop. I realize there might be compatibility issues between the old and new Itunes. What's the simplest way to do this? I'm not very computer savvy. Thanks.

Ok, well it's pretty simple. If you have a FireWire cable simply connect your iMac to your MacBook Pro, restart the iMac and immediately hold down T until you see a bouncing FireWire icon. You'll then be able to access the files on your iMac from the MacBook as if it were an external hard drive. Locate your User's Music folder on the iMac - it'll be located at /Users/yourusername/Music - and copy that to the User folder on your MacBook.

iTunes will automatically detect that it's an older version and update it.

This will erase any music you already have on the MacBook. If you don't want to do this, you could also simply create a burn folder on your iMac's desktop, open iTunes and drag out all the songs you want into this folder on your desktop, and burn it. Pop it into your MacBook, select all the songs on the disc and drag them over the iTunes window and iTunes will import them automagically.

You could also do all of the above over a home network.

That does sound easy. And I do want to save the music I have on my Macbook, so thanks for the tip about the burn folder.
