Quality of Apple's DVI to Video adapter?

Post by Turboladdade » February 23rd, 2009, 12:50 pm

I am looking for a way to connect a Mac mini to a standard TV, and am considering Apple's DVI to Video adapter found here. Has anyone any experience with this adapter? How is the quality? Is it worth $19?

I've had some bad experiences in the past with similar adapters. The quality just never looks right on the TV.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.

These sort of DVI to video adapters like the Apple one only produce SD quality video. It won't be HD quality, if that's what you meant?

Actually, that isn't what I'm referring to. I have my Power Mac G4 connected to a standard definition TV right now via the S-Video out port on my Radeon video card. While cable TV, DVDs and PlayStation shows up on the TV perfectly clear and with great colour, the Mac shows up kindof hazy and there is like lines slowly moving from the bottom to the top constantly.

I'd like to improve the quality of this and I don't want to buy the Apple adapter for my Mac mini if it's going to be similar. So is it?
