Subject: [*] Aaron's BeBox 1.2 - An Aaron 1.3.1 Enhancer
Aaron's BeBox is a package designed to enhance the popular "Coplandizing"
extension, Aaron, written by Greg Landweber and Ed Voas. Aaron's BeBox has
several options that allow the user to choose several different ways
customize their copy of Aaron.
Aaron's BeBox was originally put out to change Aaron's Copland-style folders
and icons to the refrshingly different folders featured in the BeBox, a new
computer platform from Be, Inc. I heartily recommend you check out the BeBox
for yourself. Just point your Web browser to
Aaron's BeBox has a few other nice features. It disables the spinning Zoom
Rects in the Finder, displays a more aesthetically correct WindowShade and
Zoom Box widget, and does away with the embossed text in the title bars.
New in this release is another patch, the Spinning Zoom Rects Patch. Applying
this patch to Aaron's BeBox will not only enable the spinning Zoom Rects in
the Finder, but it will change the number of steps from 10 to 24. This
creates a much smoother spinning effect, but it does slow your computer down,
so I don't recommend using this patch if you have slow computer.
Aaron's BeBox also has a Copland Trash Patch. If you're not satisified with
the BeBox-style Trash can, you can use this patch to have Aaron's BeBox
display a Copland-style Trash can.
Aaron's BeBox is $5 shareware. If you're a student or are working your way
in the world, I can understand if you can't spare $5, so in your case, you
send me something like a postcard, music CD or CD-ROM, or a disk with
something you've worked on. You can reach me at the addresses below.
If you want to give Aaron's BeBox to a friend or upload it to a BBS, then
please include this Read Me with it. If you are authoring a book or CD-ROM
and would like to include Aaron's BeBox on it, please let me know in advance
and we can work something out. My email address is:

Subject: [*] BBEdit HTML Tables version 1.0.1
Tables are one of the most useful parts of current HTML (Hypertext Markup
Language). They make it possible for designers to create documents on the
web which have a much more robust structure than was possible with HTML
prior to their introduction. BBEdit HTML Tables was written to extend the
capabilities of the BBEdit software, which is one of the best ways of
coding pages if you know HTML. The intention with this software has been to
produce something that while unfortunately not WYSWYG (essentially
impossible in an extension to BBEdit) is as easy to use as possible, while
also allowing the creation of complex tables.
BBEdit HTML Tables implements tables as per the Netscape 1.1 specification.
BBEdit HTML Tables has been extensively tested on versions 3.1.1 and 3.5
Lite of BBEdit. It requires a version of BBEdit that supports extensions,
which means version 3.0 or later. This software is shareware, with the low
fee of US$5 payable directly or via Kagi. Please read the enclosed read me
for details.
Version 1.0.1 should replace version 1.0 which had a serious memory error
and some other minor bugs which are hopefully now fixed.

Welcome to Powderhound Software's Blackjack Attitude - where
you're placed into the thick of high energy action at one of three
unique casinos. Or slow the game down until you've perfected your
card counting skills. The game features easy control of everything
>From speed of play, sound, house rules, strategy, card count, number
of players and special effects. You can play head to head against the
Dealer or when you feel up to it let the computer simulate play for
up to three other players. This provides a more realistic scenario so
you can really sharpen your card counting skills.
With Instant-Help you're just a button press away from a preview of
the correct strategy. If you aren't sure of your next move press the
Question Mark button and the strategy table will be displayed. The
correct play is conveniently highlighted. Blackjack Attitude comes
pre-programmed with the Basic Strategy. Make a play which violates
the strategy and Blackjack Attitude let's you know. A warning screen
tells you the correct play based on the programmable strategy tables.
You can easily re-program the strategy tables with any sure-fire
strategy you choose. If you're really serious pick up a book by one of
the Blackjack gurus and enter the strategy into Blackjack Attitude.
You'll soon be on your way to mastering the only casino game in
which you can actually gain an edge over the house.

Subject: [*] Burn 2.3
Enhance your privacy by securely deleting data from your computer.
Most people don't realize that emptying the trash does not erase
the content of the file being deleted. Burn solves this problem
by overwritting the file's data before deleting it.
Burn features user specified erase patterns and number of passes.
Burn 2.3 is nearly ten times faster than previous versions. It
uses asynchronous I/O routines and is Power Macintosh native
(actually a fat binary) to achieve this speed.
Burn 2.3 has better scripting support than previous versions.
Burn runs on any Macintosh with system 7 installed. You need an
asynchronous hard drive to take full advantage of the speed improvements in
Burn 2.3 although all users will see some speed increase.
Please note the change of address for Next Wave Software which
affects users of Burn and Enigma. Next Wave Software has a new web page
for user support at http://www.thenextwave.com/.

Subject: [*] Commentator 1.0, for GetInfo comments
If you use "Get Info" comments and are serious about not losing them,
have a look at my shareware utility, Commentator. It will create a
text file for you containing all of your Get Info comments, along with
the information it needs to restore them at a later time.
After rebuilding the desktop (or restoring your disk from a backup, or
experiencing some disaster) you feed it the text file and it restores
your comments for you. You can do useful things by editing the text file.
I wrote this when I discovered that backup programs don't seem to
bother saving Get Info comments. Now that even Apple seems to
acknowledge their value, maybe this will happen someday too.
I have reports that Commentator works fine with NetWare server volumes,
and is apparently the only way to preserve comments when rebuilding
the "desktop" on such a volume. Of course, it works on remote AppleShare
volumes as well. It will also extract comments from a Desktop resource
file (as used in System 6 and still used today on floppies), but I use
this only to recover comments from volumes that formerly ran System 6;
I haven't bothered to implement the ability to restore comments to a
resource file since I don't anticipate any demand for that.
Commentator requires System 7 and has been tested on 7.0.1, 7.1 and 7.5
running on Mac Plus, Mac IIci and (emulated on) PowerMac machines.
The shareware fee is $10; site licenses are available.

Subject: [*] Control Strip Menu 2.3.2 [ English, Italian, German ]
THE SOUND BITE:
Working with your files, folders, or applications has never been easier.
It's now just a click or drag away!
THE ELEVATOR STATEMENT:
Control Strip Menu is a control strip module that puts a hierarchical
menu of your favorite files and folders on your control strip. This lets
you access files, folders and applications with just a click or drag! You
can drag items to copy, move, or make aliases to them. Control Strip Menu
works the way you want it to because it can be customised in a multitude
of ways.
REQUIREMENTS:
This module works on desktop Macs, portable Macs, and PowerMacs. System
7.0 or later is required. Macintosh Drag and Drop (which is built into
System 7.5 or later) is highly recommended.
ABOUT THIS VERSION:
This is a minor new version. It has these bug fixes and improvements:
* works properly with System 7.5.3 - no more strange "A" menus
* works with File Sharing - no more -50 errors
* fixed a problem with menus gettings drawn over
* now moves files (instead of just copying them) when used with
Aladdin's Desktop Tools
Please see the included Read Me files for all the details.
Control Strip Menu is shareware.
Enjoy,
Vincent.

DoubleScroll 2.1 is a shareware control panel/extension which gives your

to control your scrolling speed. This version is now fully compatible with
the Aaron extension, so when running them both you get double arrows with

old 'Incompatible Apps' list for those familiar with DoubleScroll. The
control panel has also been redesigned.

Subject: [*] E-Mail fax 1.1.0
E-Mail fax is an incredible new program that allows you to send faxes by
e-mail. It is very easy to use and does not require any other software from
either the sender or recipient of the fax. E-Mail fax files can be made as
stand alone documents and you can even fax in color.
But E-Mail fax is much better that just regular faxing:
1) Much faster - Since E-Mail fax can save pages to the disk as fast as your
program can send them, there is no need to wait for imaging.
2) Higher resolution images.
3) Can send faxes in color.
4) No long distance phone charges.
5) Can send pages from multiple applications in one E-Mail fax file.
6) Faster transmission of documents - a typical black and white page of text
typically uses less than 4K and can transmit in under 20 seconds on most
systems.
7) No need for the receiving computer to even be on to send a fax.
8) No special software needed - Since E-Mail fax documents can be entirely
self contained, the receiver needs no other software to view or print them.
E-Mail fax - the new standard in document transport.

Font-o-rama! is a font dialog box. It's a drop-in replacement for the
font dialog box or font menus in all the applications you use. With
Font-o-rama! you can see all the fonts on your system at once!
It's better than other font dialog boxes, because it's carefully
designed to be very quick and easy to use. It's better than font menus
for the same reason. If you like using the keyboard, you can quickly
select and set fonts using only the keyboard. If you like the mouse,
you can set any font, size, or style with a single click.
Font-o-rama! is known to work with Aldus PageMaker 5.0 and 6.0, the
scriptable Finder, Microsoft Word 6.0, Scriptable Text Editor, BBEdit
3.5, Microsoft Excel 5, and Quark Express 3.3. It probably works with

Subject: [*] Mando! v1.2 -- A Chord Book for Mandolin--PPC version
*** now includes a chord diagram print option!
*** PowerPC native version now available!
Mando! v1.2 provides chord lookup for Mandolin in standard tuning, and
additional chord processing for 4 non-standard mandolin tunings and the
Mandola. In the standard tuning library, 17 chord types are supported with
3 or 4 different fingerings each, depending upon the chord. To plot a
chord diagram, select the root of the chord from the Root menu, and the
type of the chord from the Type menu. Then, diagram it with the Form
0,1,2,3 buttons from the tool bar. Non-standard tunings do not contain
these built-in chords, but full use of the Neck Window functions are
supported (see below).
In standard tuning, Form 0 chords are available for Major, Minor, and
Dominant 7th chord forms and are generally the open or common forms of the
chord. Form 1 chords generally have the root on the 4th string. Form 2
chords generally have the root on the 3th string, and Form 3 chords
generally have the root on the 2nd string.
The Neck Window view provides additional chord lookup functions. This
window allows the browsing of chord fingerings over the neck and has a
Name-that-Chord function which recognizes 40 different chords in standard
and non-standard tunings. These user-created chord voicings may then be
diagramed in the chord editor window.
This function requires a Power Macintosh with System 7.5 or higher and a
color monitor with at least 480 lines. QuickTime with the QuickTime
Musical Instruments extension is required for sound output. A 68k
(non-Power Mac) version is also available.

Subject: [*] Nisus Arabic/Persian Undotted Homographs Macro
What is an Arabic Undotted Homograph?
Homographs are words or letters that are written identically, but which
represent different meanings or sounds. In the Arabic/Persian alphabet,
some letters are written identically except for the addition of one to
three distinguishing dots above or below. But in Arabic and Persian
manuscripts, these dots are often omitted; it is assumed that the reader
will know from the context which variation of the homograph is the proper
reading of the word. The ambiguity of undotted Arabic text sometimes makes
reading a particular word difficult, especially if the subject matter is
unfamiliar to the reader.
What Does This Macro Do?
This macro file creates an alphabetized list of every possible reading of a
selected Arabic or Persian word. The idea is that when a word stumps you,
scanning a list of all possible readings might help you to recognize the
word.
What Doesn't This Macro Do?
While this macro creates a list of every possible reading, it does not
filter out readings which are not actually words in either Arabic or
Persian. This task is left to you.
How to Use
You must first load this macro to make the Arabic/Persian Undotted
Homographs macro available. Type any possible reading (whether it's a real
word or not) of the undotted Arabic or Persian word you want to examine in
Nisus and select it, then run the Arabic/Persian Homographs macro from the
Macros submenu of the Tools menu.
You will get a prompt telling you how many variants of the homograph will
be generated. Click on the OK button or hit return to dismiss the prompt.
The list will be generated in a new window, leaving your original Nisus
document unchanged.

Subject: [*] Nisus Reverse Text Macros (for Hebrew E-mail)
Introduction
These macros are designed to help you prepare Hebrew text composed in Nisus
for sending by e-mail. Specifically, they are intended to facilitate
preparing messages for the Mikhtav Hebrew mailing list, which is
coordinated by Doug Shivers and Gideon Weisz
. If you are unfamiliar with Mikhtav, you can learn
more at:
http:www.hevanet.com/dshivers/mikhtav.html
Reverse Text w/ Latin Words
Use this macro if your Hebrew file contains some text in the Roman
alphabet. It will insert line feeds and reverse the text of every line, but
will adjust Roman-alphabet text so that it does not appear reversed. Spaces
will be added to each line such that when viewed in a monospace font, the
text will appear to be right justified. Your original document will not be
modified. Rather, the reversed text will be copied to the system clipboard
and will be ready for pasting into your e-mailer or a new Nisus document,
should you so desire.
Reverse Text w/o Latin Words
Use this macro if your Hebrew text contains no words in the Roman alphabet.
It works similarly to the Reverse Text w/Latin Words macro, but is faster
because it doesn't have to check for Roman alphabet text.
Right Justify Only
If you have text that is already reversed and just want to add spaces to
force it to right justify, use this macro. This macro assumes that each
line of text is followed by a hard return.
ASCII Value Macro
This macro reports the ASCII value of the first character of selected test.
I found this macro useful in writing the reverse text macros, and have left
it in this macro file.

Subject: [*] Stefan's NamedFolder Touchup (new release)
This version is meant to replace the previous version of the NamedFolder7
Touchup. Not much is different, except that NamedFolder7's version
information is kept intact, due to a request from NamedFolder7's author,
David Sumner.
Stefan's NamedFolder Touchup is a little patch that I put together that
redesigns the interface of NamedFolder7, a wonderful system extension that,
when installed, brings up a dialog box every time you create a new folder in
the Finder. It asks you to type in the name, rather than letting the Finder
automatically name it 'untitled folder'. Normally, the new folder appears at
the bottom of a window (if you have your windows viewed by "Name"), requiring
you to scroll all the way down to rename it. This is very annoying! That's
why NamedFolder7 is so handy.
NamedFolder7 was written in 1994 by David Sumner. You can find it here on
the Info-Mac archive in the directory.
Now, back Stefan's NamedFolder7 Touchup. The Touchup redesigns the
interface of the dialog that NamedFolder7 brings up. It asks you politely to
name the folder, and you have the option to cancel if you'd like. Also, I've
added some Balloon Help support. The Balloon Help support is a *little*
messed up, so if anyone would like to point out how to correct it, I'd
appreciate it very much.
Give NamedFolder7 a try! I find it saving me time every time I use my
computer.

Subject: [*] Truss(FAT) 5.2 demo
Truss 5.2 is an application that explores the behavior of planar
trusses under external loading. It analyzes and displays the internal
forces in the members using color intensities to denote force values.
The system requirements to run this application are: 32Bit Color
QuickDraw (for system 6), and the QuickTime extension (1.5 or higher)
to be able to produce movies of a car traveling over the truss.
Some of the features implemented cover:
* Create an arbitrary truss.
* Alter the geometry of an existing truss design interactively by moving the
joint locations or by adding or removing truss members, truss supports or
truss joints.
* Automatic check whether the truss is indeterminate or not.
* Apply loads on a truss, and then change their direction interactively.
* Produce free body diagrams of the entire truss or for selected pins.
* Produce a color (pattern) graphical display of the load distribution in
the individual
members with the color (pattern) of the members denoting tension or
compression.
* Implement Method of Sections and Method of Joints to isolate members or
nodes.
* Create QuickTime movies of a car traveling over the truss.
New features in version 5.2 include:
* Better implementaion of the console window where the user can scroll and
copy from that window thanks to SIOUX library in CodeWarrior=99.
* Fat binary version. Will run native on either a 68k or a PowerPC machine.
This provides a vast performance increase when run on a PowerPC machine.
The demo version is fully operational for 4 node trusses, but cannot solve
trusses with higher number of joints.
I hope you enjoy this demo, and thank you for your support.
