Pads is a simple replacement for the standard Note Pad and Stickies
applications. It is a carbonized application that runs natively under Mac OS
X.
Pads is as simple to use as either Note Pad or Stickies, yet provides
significant new features. Pads gives users the ability to organize their
notes and use them more effectively.

- Notes can be given titles.
- Notes can be categorized.
- Pages can be "torn off" so that multiple pages can be viewed at
once (like Stickies). These tear-off pages can be closed later

Abstract:
RightWord is a word game that resembles a popular game on Dutch television.
There are a PPC and 68K versions; with this you have the 68K version. It's
meant for both adults and children. The fun of playing RightWord is to find
the 5-letter words (in English) of which RightWord presents the first
letter. You can either play alone or against an opponent, on the same
machine or via an internal network. There's also a factor of luck that makes
RightWord even more attractive, which has to do with 'drawing balls' and
achieving the word 'RIGHT' as column, row or diagonal in a colored bingo
board. Further, there are 'red balls' to change the course of the game.
Version 1.0.4 fixes a bug that caused a startup problem in some cases.

Subject: Cleaning LaserWriter Pro...
Folks;
I vaguely remember, in the dimness of time (and through the cobwebs of my
ancient brain) a website that contained information on throughly cleaning
various models of Apple LaserWriters. Naturally, now that it's time to
replace the toner in my occasionally-used LaserWriter Pro and I want to do a
good job of cleaning the puppy up so I can get another couple of years of
faithful service from it, I can't find the website for the life of me. I
remember the site as being pretty detailed about how best to clean out all
the accumulated dust and gunk, what to remove, what NOT to remove...
Anyone happen to have a pointer?

(jumping in; never got the last dozen digests, so ahm pro'ly off track)
Depends on the actual format of the CD.
ISO-9660 CDs have 8.3 filenames and are readable on any computer.
Joliet is a MS-proprietary enhancement of ISO-9660 that allows longer
file names; up to 64 characters I believe. Some Joliet CDs can be
read by the codec/drivers that Microsloth has made available. But
some cannot as they include "unreleased" "windows only" things.
Or the CD may have been written using something like Adaptec's
DirectCD -- in which case, it's Universal Disk Format (UDF). (This
is what you get when you create "packet written" CDs). UDF is a
standardized enhancement of 9660, which includes both an 8.3 and a
127 character filename TOC, so they're truely readable on any
platform. MacOS 8.1 and later include the codec for UDF 1.02, but
long ago the world went to 1.5.

Subject: Shut down problem
I just got a cable modem (after years of using PPP) and now my Power Mac
8600/300 running Mac OS 8.6 won't shut down. It claims that it can't
because one of the programs running won't quit. The only thing running is
the Finder. I can't think of any reason why having a permanent connection
would cause the Finder to do this. I've tried changing the TCP/IP options
but doesn't seem to matter if "load only when needed" is enabled or not.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
