Almost 50 individual changes; the most important are:
- MIDI file search: easy beat now has a "Find Songˆ" command that

- There is a new "info" icon in the song header. Clicking the icon
opens the "Song Info" dialog.
- When an imported MIDI file contains unsupported MIDI messages,
easy beat no longer shows an alert; instead, the "info" icon
becomes a warning icon, and the "Song Info" dialog lists the
unsupported MIDI messages.
- easy beat now remembers the horizontal scrolling position when
you save and re-open a song.
- When easy beat exports and re-imports a MIDI file, certain
settings (such as loop settings and display width) are maintained.
- Web menu: A new menu with a world icon contains convenient commands
to contact UNI SOFTWARE PLUS on the web and via e-mail.

Subject: [Q] LaserWriter IIf on PowerBook G3 Bronze
I want to use a laserwriter IIf on a PowerBook G3 Bronze. I have a
Keyspan USB to 2 Serial Ports which is primarily used for the
Stylewriter. However, I know the Keyspan converter won't hack
LocalTalk.
So, the way I see there are 2 approaches. First, use an iPrint LT
(Ethernet to LocalTalk) but lose my Ethernet to printer when I go
online (Thank gawd for Location Manager!). Second, run IPNetRouter
to act like a "router" which will allowing printing to the
Laserwriter while online.
Does anybody see a different approach?

Subject: A weird folder inside System folder
Thanks to all answers, especially to Wouter Meulensteen and Joni Hope but I
keep on the problem. I did not mentioned that I ran Disk First Aid and
Norton Disk Doctor (v.5) with a friend but they did not catched anything
wrong in files or directories. I tried what Wouter Meulensteen said (to
move all System folder items to other folder and to try that a new and
empty "System folder" replaced the old System folder with the "haunted" one
within) but Finder told that these haunted folder were in use and couldn't
be replaced or deleted. Since iMac can't boot from my USB zip, I can't use
a "trash" resident in other drive than the main HD. Booting from CD the
finder also says that the weird folder is in use when I try to move it to
trash. Any solution to boot a iMac without using main HD as trash
resident?
By the moment, I have moved the haunted folder inside a empty folder. Then
this weird folder info is 0 items, 0 K (because it gives the same
information that the container folder) and put the container in a recondit
corner where I do not use to go. Also disabled the ObjectSupportLib
extension.
I use iMac 333 MHz, 96 Mb RAM, System 8.6
Any low level (and dangerous, I supose) solution?

I think the following should work with the 6MP. They're posts from a newsgroup.
Personally, I prefer Ethernet for printers whenever possible. Historically, this
was a pricey way to go, and I think Mac users tended to not consider it as an
option. But since new small hubs are so inexpensive now, and used ones are
available for less, it's time to start thinking different again.

Hello,
what U need is a UTP to Localtalk convertor (e.g. iprint) to use that kind
of printer. It's simple, but not as cheap as an usb2serial adapter:
connect the powerbook to the UTP-port with a crosscable, connect the printer
to the localtalk port with the cable U'r using now and the job is done.

Subject: norton & 8x
I've been using Norton 4.x and Norton 4.5 on my macs with Systems 8.1, 8.5
and 8.6 with no problems. There was a problem with norton 4.0 and the HFS+
formatted disks in the beginning. Once the Disk Doctor 4.0.3 patch was
created the problems were cured. In short Norton versions 4.0.3 and newer
seem bug free, provided you don't use Crashguard. It seems by most accounts
that it should have been caused Crashmaker instead.
