Re: mac cube duel 500 conversion
The Nvidia GForce MX3 was considered the fastest stock card that shipped with the Cube. The Cube has a AGP 2x slot, so it should take any stock 2X and 4X AGP card without modification to the slot or the card pins. Cubeowner dot com was the definitive source for all information concerning the Cube ...

Re: DIY Advice to repair an M001
Make sure you get the screws down inside the handle. To open the case you would or perhaps only should use a case cracker. A search of the internet should turn up an assortment of differing tools that have been used to get into the cases of the classis Macs. Might even turn up up ideas digging ...

It is not clear to me what you are running the shell from if the computer is not booting from the hard drive. If you are running from installer media it would be most common to run the DiskUtility application to effect repairs and/or erase/reformt the hard drive for reuse.

Re: What is going on with this Mac?
If you are trying to boot a Powerbook G4 1.5GHz from a hard drive that has Panther installed it will not work, for the OS to old for the hardware. You would need to check on line to see what system the Powerbook requires. It will run Mac OS X 10.5, which is probably your best bet.

Re: Which software you use to monitor CPU temperature?
System monitoring software always strikes me as a waste of time. Macs monitor their own temperature. They turn on the fan as needed, they shut down if heat becomes excessive. I think you only need to monitor something if you can favorably control it. I have no ability to control the temperature of ...

A couple of the panics seem related to this from your log:

Re: iMac G5 crashed after using track changes on Word for Mac
My wife's iMac G5 died from capacitor problems a year ago. My wife was content with her iMac G5 and had no lust for a new(er) computer so we did get it fixed. The repair was not inexpensive, but it was much less than the cost of a new machine. You just need to look at all the variables and make a ...

Re: iMac G5 crashed after using track changes on Word for Mac
If the G5 iMac is making no noise of any sort and the screen remains black without so much as a flicker then you no doubt have hardware problems and probably serious problems.
The G5 iMac suffered from capacitor failure. If you do a search on G5 iMac and capacitors you will find a good deal of ...

Detailed symptoms would make it easier to provide helpful suggestions. Is the iMac acting like it is not even plugged in when you try to start it? Do you get a chime or any other signs of life, like a fan or drive spinning up? Does it get to displaying an image and if so what is displayed?

Re: Where to look: upgrade 2.0GHz G5 to 2.7GHz liquid cooled G5?
It was my understanding that the liquid cooling system was overall pretty reliable. However it was easily damaged when worked on by the untrained and unskilled. And of course the big problem is that any damage that results in coolant leakage invariably ruins the entire machine. Even with the cooling ...

Re: Specialized switch for link aggregation?
Link aggregation has not been standardized on yet by the IEEE. However most manufactures have methods to handle it. I would think you would not have any problems with any major manufacturer switch. If you need for this to occur across multiple switches it would probably be best to stick with them ...
