Subject: [*] "Sexy" America Online 3.0 Sounds
Customize your America Online application with this auto sound-replacer
that installs an attractive female voice that will address you while
on-line. This set of sounds has been used on a major television show and
has won the "MMS File of the Month" award, and includes 7 stereo sounds
that will enhance the audio portion of the on-line environment.
Sounds include:
Log on: "Welcome to America Online!"
New Mail: "You have new mail!"
Instant Message: "Yoo-hoo!"
Buddy Log On: "Ooooh Baby!"
Buddy Log Off: "See Ya' Later!"
File Transfer: "File Transfer Is Complete."
Log Off: "Thank You, and Come Again!"
Since the AOL 3.0 (and above) client does not utilize an "Online Sounds"
file, this file is in the form of an application that will automatically
replace the sound resources of your AOL program. You simply drag the AOL
client on top of the sound replacer and it does it for you. It deletes
your original sounds, so it is advised that you make a back-up copy of
your AOL app in case you wish to return to the old sounds.
This file is freeware and redistribution of the archive in its entirety
is welcome. Instructions are included with the file for proper
installation. Note that a portion of the file is a catalog containing
information about the Clixsounds CD-ROM.

Subject: [*] BibTeX 1.1.4
This is a minor upgrade to BibTeX.
It fixes a couple of small bugs, and adds one very useful new
feature: command clicking in the log window (on warnings and
errors) sends you to the correct file/line/entry in your
editor (currently only works with "Alpha").
Here's the general blurb:
BibTeX is the bibliography handling tool related to the TeX/LaTeX
typesetting system (available on almost all conceivable OS platforms).
When a document is typeset with LaTeX, an auxiliary file (with extension
'.aux') is generated. This auxiliary file contains, amongst other things,
a list of references (to books, articles, research reports, web-url's,...)
cited in the original document. BibTeX takes this list, together with the
name of a style file (extension '.bst') and a list of bibliography
databases (extension '.bib') which are also given in the auxiliary file,
and produces a wonderfully formatted list of references which the LaTeX
system subsequently (and automatically) appends to your typeset document.
Hence BibTeX is really not at all useful without TeX/LaTeX (there are
several freeware/shareware/commercial versions for the MacOS: OzTeX,
CMacTeX, DirecTeX Pro, Textures). In fact this port of BibTeX is now
distributed with OzTeX 2.x. It is useful to have a good text editor which
knows about the particular format of LaTeX documents: on the Mac, the
editor Alpha is indispensible in this regard, both for editing and for its
apple-event communication with the various parts of a LaTeX system.

Subject: [*] Burn 2.4
I'm pleased to announce the latest release of Burn, version 2.4.
Enhance your privacy by securely deleting data from your computer.
Most people don't realize that emptying the trash does not erase
the content of the file being deleted. Burn solves this problem
by overwritting the file's data before deleting it.
Burn features user specified erase patterns and number of passes.
Burn 2.4 fixes a problem previous versions of Burn had dealing with
aliases. Burn now handles aliases exactly like the regular
Macintosh trash does which means dragging an alias to Burn erases
the alias, not the original. You must be using System 7.5.3 or
newer in order to take advantage of this improvement.
There are also a few minor bug fixes and cosmetic enhancements.

CoplandCursor a little extension that changes your default black with white
outline cursor, or pointer, (that thing on the screen that moves when you
move your mouse, trackpad, or trackball) with a more =E6sthetic, color, and
especially 3D looking one. You should have a 256 (or more) color monitor
or it might look very bad. This extension works extremely well with
"Aaron", the extension that Coplandizes your Mac.
To make this cursor work just drop it into your "Extensions" folder inside
your "System Folder" and reboot. After all your extensions load you will
have a 3D color cursor.

Subject: [*] E-Mail fax 1.2.0
E-Mail fax is an incredible new program that allows you to send faxes by
e-mail. It is very easy to use and does not require any other software from
either the sender or recipient of the fax. E-Mail fax files can be made as
stand alone documents and you can even fax in color.
But E-Mail fax is much better that just regular faxing:
1) Much faster - Since E-Mail fax can save pages to the disk as fast as your
program can send them, there is no need to wait for imaging.
2) Higher resolution images.
3) Can send faxes in color.
4) No long distance phone charges.
5) Can send pages from multiple applications in one E-Mail fax file.
6) Faster transmission of documents - a typical black and white page of text
typically uses less than 4K and can transmit in under 20 seconds on most
systems.
7) No need for the receiving computer to even be on to send a fax.
8) No special software needed - Since E-Mail fax documents can be entirely
self contained, the receiver needs no other software to view or print them.
Version 1.2.0 now has A4 as well as custom paper sizes. It also allows
multible pages setups on one e-mail fax. Also works with QuarkXPress.

Zip/SyQuest/Jaz disks, depending on which key you press (much quicker and
easier than dragging the disk to the trash). EjectDisk is different from
pressing Command-Y in the Finder because you don't have to select the disk
first, and you don't have to be in the Finder to eject the disk.
Full documentation is included within the control panel (just click the
button labelled '?'). If you have any problems, queries, suggestions or bug

Subject: [*] Horizon v1.0a
DEMO VERSION: This version may be freely distributed provided none of the
accompanying files are removed. The demo version has no sound, no paged ROMs,
no
large/full screen views and no file saving. See 'Registration' file on how to
obtain the full shareware version.
Welcome to the world of HORIZON otherwise previously known as 'MacBeebEm'. As
well as the new name, there are lots of new features and this release defines a
fresh start for what we lovingly knew as MacBeebEm. So why the new name? Well,
some of you will know about Horizon's sister emulator called Rainbow (the Atari
8-bit emulator also for the Apple Mac) and so the new name (and icon) sits
comfortably alongside Rainbow. It is also felt that with the new features,
Horizon represents a good piece of home-grown shareware, something which
MacBeebEm just wasn't quite. Finally there are very tentative plans (no
promises!) to port Horizon to Windows 95 and dropping the 'Mac' prefix is a
simple, aesthetic step towards that goal.
New Features in Horizon over MacBeebEm v1.2
* Superb sound effects with 3 channels of pure tones and 1 channel of
improvised noise
* Full screen display
* Proper Apple keyboard layout
* Improved file I/O handling
* CPU emulation speeded up by some 20%
* Much faster large/full screen display code
* Much, much faster MODE 7 TeleText display, now with full double height
characters
* Speedometer to give 'frames per second' and CPU efficiency (100% =
normal Beeb speed)
* More 'Frames' options
* Nicer ALERT boxes and better error handling
* Resources for icons (BNDL, FREQ) now included
* Size of application greatly reduced due to removal of sampled beebs.

Subject: [*] Hubert's M.A.C. Icons v3.0 r9612
MAJOR ADDITIONS: CLONES!
Revisions:
v3.0 - December 1, 1996
- Entire icon collection renamed to "Hubert's M.A.C. Icons."
- Changed version system: In addition to the normal version number a
release date was also added to better identify the latest release. For
instance, version 3.0's full version number was "v3.0 r9612" for
December, 1996.
- Added all clones from: Power Computing, UMAX, Daystar, Motorola, APS.
2D and 3D.
- Added Power Macintosh 4400 to all but 3D-X sections.
- Added Performa 6400 Tower to 2D and 3D normal sections (default
configuration).
- Added PowerBook 1400 to all sections.
- Major modifications to both document files.
- Renamed "Cool!" sections to "X".
- Section "X": Added color shading to all Macs with built-in *colour*
screens, including the PowerBooks. Screens which are inherently Black
and White or Greyscale only retained the light-blue that is Apple's
standard for screen colour. Menu bar and items added to all screens in
icl8 resources and some icl4 resources.
- Minor shading modifications to all Quadra case designs except Quadra
630s.
Unlike other Mac computer icon archives, almost every single variation
of Mac form factors can be found in this collection, INCLUDING AS MANY
CLONES AS I COULD FIND! Small variations in Mac cases, such as the
"lip" found on all manual- inject disk drive- equipped Macs, are
included; the Quadra 800 set of icons has 8 variations! Whatever Mac
and configuration you have, there will be a matching icon. Also, these
icons look great no matter *what* depth monitor you have (except BW AND
small icon, in most cases).
Permission IS HEREBY GIVEN to include this archive on any CD-ROM,
commercial package, etc, provided that:
1) you inform me via e-mail ([email protected]) of your intent to do so;
2) the icons and resources within are not altered in any way;
3) all components (readme files, icons, resources) remain with the
archive.

Subject: [*] MailRouter 1.04 - rerouter extension for AIMS
The Avalonia MailRouter is an extension to Apples Internet Mail Server
(AIMS). It
is supposed to be running in the background on the same machine as AIMS,
without
taking more of the CPU and memory than absolutely needed.
By using Avalonia MailRouter AIMS is extended with functionality to handle many
domains on one single machine. Apart from assigning mailboxes to each user
on the
different domains, MailRouter can also redirect mail based on account or domain
names, handle subdomains, divide users on a big domain to a set of servers and
handle unregistered addresses.
The Avalonia MailRouter is ShareWare. You may try MailRouter out for free,
but if
you decide to continue using MailRouter, you must pay a ShareWare fee:
* To run a single copy of MailRouter on a single machine, the fee is US$20.
* To run an unlimited amount of copies of MailRouter on machines placed at a
single physical location, the fee is US$50.
* To run an unlimited amount of copies of MailRouter on machines inside the
same
organisation, placed anywhere in the world, the fee is US$100.
To run MailRouter, you need a copy of AIMS, preferably version 1.1.1 or newer,
running on a machine with at least a 68030 (or a PowerPC for the PowerPC native
version). For best results the machine should be running MacOS System 7.5 or
newer. Memory usage, depending on the amount of addresses handled, 100-500 KB.
Changes since version 1.03
* Added handling of the popgate keyword for rerouting mail to dial-up POP
domains.
* The log now shows the exact size of each message.

Subject: [*] Maze Explorer 1.0
Maze Explorer is an educational package for the Macintosh that
introduces the user to the basics of programming and control. To do
this, it uses the simplest instructions and ideas from the Logo
programming language. The problems set by Maze Explorer are all based
around freeing a small, robot bug from maze-like puzzles.
Until you register you will be able to use only one, randomly selected
maze each time you open the program. The registered version also
includes a maze editor for editong existing and creating new mazes.
Installation
If you're reading this then either you or your web browser has decoded
the downloaded file. If you have Stuffit Expander or similar software,
your browser may also have decompressed the rest of the package. If so,
ignore the following.
Maze Explorer 1.0 is stored in a self extracting archive called
mExplorer.sea
Open the archive (double click) and extract the contents onto your hard
disc. This will create a folder on your drive called Maze Explorer 1.0
which contains the application, and registration details.
The User Guide in text and Clarisworks 2.0 formats can be downloaded
>From http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Mike_Darnell/
A Hypercard stack that allows you to view the full set of mazes
available in the program before registering is also available from this
site.

Subject: [*] Midi Delay 2.5.1 - A Realtime Midi Effects Application
Midi Delay does many of the same things as a hardware digital delay
and more...The programs uses hardware digital delay terminology making
it very intuitive to use for most electronic musicians. In this Demo
version of Midi Delay the user gets five seconds of delay time, and ten
repeats (feedback) on the main delay and two multitap delay sections
that allows five seconds of delay time on each tap and the ability to
send the taps on different midi channels and/or to different midi
instruments. The multitap section can be fed to the main delay for
further processing and cool looping effects. Midi delay supports
Apple's Quicktime Musical Instruments v2.0 and higher as an output
source.
Requirements - Midi Delay requires a Mac II(xx) or greater running
System 7.0 and up with 8 megabytes of ram. A 14 inch monitor or larger
is recommended, but not required. A midi sound module and midi
controller are also required as well as a midi interface to connect the
controller/module to the computer. (midi interface, midi controller and
sound module may be the same device or in the form of computer software)
Midi Delay also requires Opcode's OMS v1.2.3 or higher or Apple's Midi
Manager v2.0.1 or higher. These software packages can be obtained from
the following places:
OMS v1.2.3 and v2.1 Download (FREE) from: WWW.OPCODE.COM on the OMS
homepage
Midi Manager 2.0.2 Download (FREE) from: FTP.SUPPORT.APPLE.COM in the
directory: /PUB/APPLE_SW_UPDATES/US/MACINTOSH/UNSUPPORTED/
Using OMS 2.1 with Midi Delay will produce the best results and
allow you to use all of Midi Delay's features with a minimum of effort.

Subject: [*] MIDIGraphy 1.3.0
Attached is the new 1.3.0 version of MIDIGraphy by TONTATA of
Japan. Many minor bug fixes are included. Quicktime 2.5 and its new QTMI
interface are now supported. TONTATA now has a registered midi file type,
courtesy of Apple computer. This means that any midi files specifically
tagged as MIDIGraphy type by older versions of the sequencer will NOT
automatically cause this new version of MIDIGraphy to launch.
It is suggested that you download one of the fine file type
changing utilities available at Info-Mac, perhaps File Typer 5.0 or a
similar tool, if you want to do automated conversion of large batches of
midi files from earlier MIDIGraphy work to the new 1.3.0 version 'type and
creator' signatures. You can, of course, open any midi file with
MIDIGraphy 1.3.0 and then 'save as' to get the file branded with the new
type and creator signatures also.
Please also check for the new Profile Compiler, appropriately named
MIDIGraphy Profile Compiler 1.3.0, which is now a separate item and has
also been uploaded to Info-Mac. A number of sample source files - most of
them for Roland synthesizer units - are included with the profile compiler
package as examples.
URL and email addresses for TONTATA are include in the Release
Notes document in this package. The shareware registration fee is still
$20 and can be paid through Kagi. This may be the world's best software
bargain for midi music, since MIDIGraphy is equal to the best midi
sequencers sold commercially (perhaps superior in some respects) and is
continually being improved with NO condition of re-registration at
additional fees for those who have already registered.
Archivist, please replace any existing older versions of MIDIGraphy
with this version, current as of the release date of November 22, 1996.
Thanks.

Subject: [*] MIDIGraphy Profile Compiler 1.3.0
This is a companion tool for MIDIGraphy 1.3.0. The profile
compiler produces 'profiles' of the internal structure of synthesizers'
sound banks for added convenience when you are using MIDIGraphy 1.3.0. A
plain text editor or Simpletext can be used to create the plain text files
that serve as input to the profile compiler.
For creating text files larger than 32k, the limit of Simpletext,
please download one of the very fine text editors that are available at
Info-Mac. BBEditLT is a high-powered tool for many purposes and features
one of the best find-and-replace functions ever included in a text editor.
Tex-Edit in any version will work fine also, as would Alpha or similar
programs.
Now that MIDIGraphy - in version 1.3.0 - uses a specific new file
and creator signature (registered with Apple), a new profile compiler was
also necessary. Please do NOT use any earlier profile compiler with
MIDIGraphy 1.3.0.
An assortment of profile 'source' files are included in this
package. Most of the modules are Roland, a few are Yamaha (the QY
series?). A brief description of the 'instruction set' of the profile
compiler is included in the documentation, both English and Japanese
versions.
Archivist, please replace any earlier versions of the MIDIGraphy
Profile Compiler with this 1.3.0 version, released on November 22, 1996.

Subject: [*] Midi Thru 1.1 - A Software Midi Thru Box
Midi Thru is for use with either OMS or Midi Manager. If you don't know
what these are, then you don't need Midi Thru. Midi Thru simply
connects a controller synth to a slave synth. Midi Thru allows you to
slave a synth, sending on the midi channel of your choice. It's great
for those times when you don't want to fire up a major memory eating
sequencing program to use as a midi thru or when you want to write
lyrics in your word processor and don't have enough memory left to fire
up your memory hogging midi sequencer or if you just want to jam on that

Subject: [*] Verbs&Nouns 1.2.4 - language teaching program
Here is the new (1.2.4), improved version of the "Verbs & Nouns" application.
The inflection of words is one of the most difficult parts of learning
many foreign languages since there are numerous inflection patterns.
"Verbs&Nouns" is an application that helps you to learn these patterns
and refresh your knowledge about the rules for the inflection of verbs
and nouns in a foreign language. The program has many other useful
features to help you to learn or research a foreign language.
The program lets you create a database of verbs or nouns in a foreign
language. You can easily construct the inflection patterns (rules) for
words that are regular. You can include other information about each
word, such as a translation, grammar characteristics, comments, etc. in
a convenient form. Comments are useful for storing examples of the use
of the word, or for recording other information. The facility for
merging databases makes it easy to share comments with other users. The
program has an exercise window. It automatically generates exercises to
allow you to practise inflection or translation. You can collect the
words that you have already learned and let the program generate
exercises just for this group of words. You can also identify many other
groups of words (and collect them in classes) to use them in exercises
or for browsing. The program has asynchronous sound support to associate
the sound samples with words. Examination support is built into the
program. This includes reports for students and reports for the teacher
on the performance of students.

* Full screen display
* Proper Apple keyboard layout
* Improved file I/O handling
* CPU emulation speeded up by some 20%
* Much faster large/full screen display code
* Much, much faster MODE 7 TeleText display, now with full double height
characters
* Speedometer to give 'frames per second' and CPU efficiency (100% =
normal Beeb speed)
* More 'Frames' options

1) you inform me via e-mail ([email protected]) of your intent to do so;
2) the icons and resources within are not altered in any way;

Open the archive (double click) and extract the contents onto your hard

which contains the application, and registration details.

A number of sample source files - most of
them for Roland synthesizer units - are included with the profile compiler
package as examples.

An assortment of profile 'source' files are included in this
package. Most of the modules are Roland, a few are Yamaha (the QY
series?). A brief description of the 'instruction set' of the profile
compiler is included in the documentation, both English and Japanese
versions.

Subject: [*] OT/PPP Toggle 2.0.1 - Open/Close PPP with Open Transport PPP
OT/PPP Toggle 2.0.1 toggles the state of the PPP connection using Open
Transport PPP. If it's closed, it opens it using the currently active
configuration as set in the PPP control panel. If it's already open, it
closes it. Using the Auto-Open feature, it can also open any application
or file you want once the connection is made. Just click on it in a
launcher or select it from the Apple menu and it opens or closes the
connection. It uses less than 10kb on disk and 200K of RAM (and only
when actually opening or closing a connection).
New features:
2.0.1 - Now OT/PPP Toggle 2.0.1 Setup can choose any file for Auto-Open.
2.0 - Complete re-write. Faster, easier to set up (setup application),
unlimited retries (redialing dropped because it is supported in OT/PPP
itself). PPP Control Panel opening now an option.
