"Halloween StartUp Sound"
The "Halloween StartUp Sound" is seasonal sound file that can be used to
play automatically when your extensions have loaded. It begins with the
ominous creaking of an old door that swings from left speaker to right as
suddenly a female scream is heard. Steam bursts from all over as a deep,
haunting voice slowly mumbles "Welcome..." and breaks into an evil laugh as
owls "whooo" in the distance from all directions. Windchimes can be heard
clanging through the steam and wind somewhere near as a distant howl belts
out, bringing the sound to a dark conclusion.

Keywords: AMBROSIA ARCADE FUN ACTION ANDREW WELCH GAME SHAREWRAE
This is a press release package providing screen shots and a full
description of Ambrosia's action game Bubble Trouble. This archive does
not contain the game itself. This package is intended for those who are
interested in the game and wish to obtain more information without
downloading the complete package.
"OK Mr. Fishy, your days of suavely swishing around the fish bowl are
numbered! That's it... come here... just a little more... SQUISH!!
Haha! Eat seaweed fish-breath!" -- Blinky the teenage mutant goldfish.
Welcome to Bubble Trouble folks, the latest game from Ambrosia in which
cutthroat fishies are playing hardball in a squabble over some very wet
turf. Think of it as splatball for insufferably cute seafaring critters
(hey, they need their fun too).
Bubble Trouble's world is filled with lusciously-drawn cartoony critters
who give that cranky crab from "The Little Mermaid" a run for his money.
But money isn't what you'll be running from: an otherwise peaceful fish
bowl has been filled with bubbles that are being tossed around in an
enthralling game of "Squish the Fish!"
Yes, it's squish or be squished -- and there are plenty of would-be
squishers just waiting for you to get your feet wet: Piranha and
starfish and eels, oh my! But don't worry little fishy, there are plenty
of power-ups and goodies you can hook your fin onto to give you a bit of
an edge.
Bubble Trouble is sure to extort squeals of delight from children of all
ages, accented by the game's engaging sound effects and disturbingly
perky music. But when the clock strikes midnight, remember: "Just one
more game."
Bubble Trouble is the proud offspring of two guys with funny accents
(David Wareing and Alex Metcalf). Granted, when two guys get together,
the result usually ends up being football, crude jokes, and awkward
scratching -- but not this time!
WARNING TO MEN: Guys, Bubble Trouble is one game that your sweethearts
are likely to kick your butt from one end of the tank to the other. If
your relationship can't handle the strain of seeing her name plastered
all over the high score screen, please refrain from getting Bubble
Trouble.
WARNING TO WOMEN: Your beau might not be able to handle getting stomped
(the fragile male ego, and all that) -- it might be best to let him win a
few times. Tell him what a manly man he is, etc.

CommuniGator 2.3
The CommuniGator application is the client part of the CommuniGate integrated
messaging system. It allows you to work with all your messages: e-mail, fax,
voice, pager, etc.
You can use it on the same computer the CommuniGate server is installed on,
and you can install and use it on other computers connected to the server via
network.
The CommuniGate User Manual explains how you can use the CommuniGator
application as your messaging environment. It provides information about:
- message composing;
- address books;
- mailboxes;
- operations on messages;
- miscellaneous CommuniGator features;
CommuniGator is used to manage the CommuniGate Server, too: to configure the
server itself or the modules it runs, to control the modules and their queues,
etc. The CommuniGate System Manual explains how you can use the CommuniGator
application to maintain your CommuniGate Server.
See the CommuniGate System Guide for installation instructions.
New in this version 2.3
-----------------------
* The "inline input" method is implemented (to enter 2-byte characters, as
Kanji).
* Aliases can be used for the "Mail for xxxxx" folders.
* The Find Selection menu command is implemented. It works for subjects and
message texts only.
* When the server connection drops, unfinished letters can be saved on the

Subject: [*] CommuniGate FaxGate 1.9.5
The FaxGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting fax messaging.
It converts messages to the fax format and sends them to remote fax machines.
The module can receive incoming faxes and route them as messages to the
recipient(s).
The module is multi-line, i.e. it can support several fax lines
simultaneously.
When installed together with the Voice Gate, FaxGate can route incoming faxes
to any recipient (locally or over e-mail), it can implement fax-on-demand and
other fax-center features.
The FaxGate supports Class 2 and Class 2.0 fax modems connected via serial
ports. Make sure that your modem really supports Class 2 or Class 2.0 faxing
before you try it with FaxGate. Many old fax modms support fax Class 1 only.
To compose and send messages as faxes, you can use not only the CommuniGator
application, but also the print driver "FaxSender".
The latest version can be obtained at:
http://www.stalker.com
or
ftp://ftp.stalker.com
1.9.5
* When processing the *.faxconv addresses, the "remote-printer.user" name is
generated instead of the name "X" to provide compatibilities with
non-CommuniGate "tpc.int" (free fax) servers.
* "*.facs" domain domains are supported in the same manner as "*.fax" to
allow redirecting only certain numbers to local FaxGate (and its fax
modems) while other fax messages are routed to some other, external
services.

Subject: [*] CommuniGate PagerGate 1.4
The PagerGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting wireless
paging. The module uses one or several regular modems. It calls host computers
of paging service companies and transfers the messages along with the
recipients' pager IDs. The host computers then deliver the messages to the
recipients' pagers.
As any other CommuniGate module, PagerGate can be used even if you don't have
it installed on your computer or network: you can use any other CommuniGate
Server with PagerGate via Internet (see below).
Since there are many companies providing paging service, and each company uses
its own pager IDs, you need to know two things in order to send a message to
somebody's pager: the ID of that pager, and also the name of the paging
service provider.
The PagerGate module supports the TAP protocol (used by US paging services),
it is multi-line, and it supports connections with several paging hosts.
When you configure the PagerGate module, you create entities ("lines") for
each service company you want to be able to use for paging. When done, you
address a pager as dddd%nnnn, where dddd is the ID of the pager, nnnn is the
name of the paging company.
Sample: 777777%PageMart
Updates since last posted:
1.4
* The Maximum Page Length setting is implemented. Sending long messages as
sets of short pages is implemented.
* Bug fix: the '$n' format symbol combination worked as the '$F' combination.

Subject: [*] CommuniGate POPGate 2.0.2
The POPGate is a CommuniGate communication module supporting E-mail message
transfer using the POP Internet protocol (RFC1725) via TCP/IP networks. MIME
(RFC 1341) support and various attachment encoding methods are provided within
the CommuniGate Server kernel itself.
The POPGate module supports multi-stream communications. For each registered
user, POPGate can retrieve messages from several remote mailboxes. POPGate can
retrieve mail for your entire domain using so-called "Unified Domain-wide
accounts" and distribute it.
The POPGate module can operate as a POP3 server, provide access to CommuniGate
user mailboxes for several remote users simultaneously. It can also provide
access to Unified-Domain wide accounts.
The latest version of the POPGate can be obtained from:
http://www.stalker.com
or
ftp://ftp.stalker.com
Updates since last posted:
2.0.1
* The POPGate supports dial-up links in the OpenTransport - native mode.
2.0
* The POPGate is OpenTransport TCP - native now.
1.5.1
* Bug fix: due to a name collision, the time-out scheme was implemented
improperly, resulting in broken connections and problems with message
transfers.

Subject: [*] CommuniGate Server 2.5 - Native OT, Kanji & dial-up
The kernel part of the CommuniGate integrated messaging system is the
CommuniGate Server. When installed, it runs in background and:
* stores all messages sent and received;
* enables network access for CommuniGate users, maintains their mailboxes,
queues, etc.;
* loads and runs CommuniGate modules (i.e. FaxGate, UUCPGate, VoiceGate,
etc.) and creates the run-time environment for those modules;
* maintains system activity log;
* implements routing algorithms;
* maintains a resource database and provides access to that database for
CommuniGate users and CommuniGate modules (fax cover pages, sounds, voice
scripts, info tables, etc.).
The CommuniGate services can be accessed with the CommuniGator client
software. The client software allows you to compose and read messages, to
manage your mailboxes, etc. It is also used by CommuniGate administrator
to configure, maintain, monitor and control the CommuniGate server -
locally or remotely.
When the POPGate and SMTPGate modules are installed, the CommuniGate Server
can be used as a messaging server for clients running not only the
CommuniGator application, but plain POP-based mailers (as Eudora and Claris
Emailer) - on any platform.
Before you install or upgrade:
* If you use OpenTransport, please make sure that the OT 1.1.1 or better is
installed!
* If you use MacPPP, please switch to FreePPP.
* If you use FreePPP, please make sure you use the latest version
available.
* If you use the VICOM gateway, please make sure you use the latest version
available.

Subject: [*] Freecell for Mac
Freecell is a card game similar to Klondike, but where we can only move
one card at a time.
In the game we find: 8 stacks of cards, 4 home cells and 4 free cells.
To win, we must move all the cards from the stacks to the home cells.
Since we can move just one card at a time, we use the free cells as
temporary storage.
To move a card to another stack, we must observe the same rules as in
Klondike:
- the card must have a value 1 less than the value of the card on top
of the stack
- the card and the card on top of the stack must have different colors
- to move to the home cells, the card must have a value that follows
the value of the card in the home cell; and they must be of the same
suit.
- we can also move a card to an empty free cell or an empty stack.
The program provides a shortcut for moving several cards. When we click
on the source stack and on the destination stack, the program will
determine which cards can be moved and will move them.
This is my second program for Macintosh. I used CW9 C++ and POV-Ray 3.0
for the graphics.
Enjoy!

Subject: [*] Grapple 1.1 - A Quick and Easy String Finder for the Mac!
Grapple is a string finder for the Mac that is both friendly and intuitive.
Grapple is very simple to use and fun. Set up a string to find, choose
where to start the search and hit the search button. Grapple then searches
recursively through the folder hierarchy for files of the type (or types)
chosen which contain your string. Matched strings are extracted and listed
in a window for you to browse through. At the end of a search, select any
file from those listed and either view it from within Grapple, have the
Finder display its location or open it with the editor of your choice - all
at the press of a button!
New to version 1.1:
- you can set up a menu of starting folders for easy access to your favourite
search paths.
- you can choose the starting folder by dragging the folder (or disk) icon
over Grapple's icon!
A couple of minor bugs have also been fixed.
Grapple is fully functional SHAREWARE.

Subject: [*] HMO-PLUS 2.0.3
Please place this submission into you science or chemistry archive.
HMO-plus 2.0.3 executes molecular orbital calculations on the
Macintosh computer for structures containing up to one hundred
atoms. A number if different types of molecular orbital
calculations can be performed; these include simple Hueckel,
omega-technique, improved two parameter omega-technique (ITPOT),
and SCF (Pariser-Parr-Pople approximation) calculations. The
program is highly interactive and simply requires that the
structure of a target molecule be drawn with the mouse by
selecting any desired rings or heteroatoms from a palette. The
program automatically constructs the secular determinant from the
supplied structure and computes the eigenvectors and eigenvalues
by the Jacobi diagonalisation method. The output of the program
can be displayed in both graphic and tabular form and includes
the empirical formula, number of atoms, number of pi-electrons,
secular determinant, eigenvalues, total energy, delocalization
energy, delocalization energy per pi-electron, eigenvectors,
charge densities, dipole moment, total charge, electron
density-bond order matrix, electrophilic, radical, and
nucleophilic superdelocalizabilities, mutual and self-atom
polarizabilities, and freevalences. The program also displays a
color diagram of the pi-electrostatic potential.
This newest version of the program displays color diagrams of the
molecular orbitals, the atom-centered, bond-centered, or total
pi-electron populations, and a pi-electron density difference map
that are constructed using STOs. Full documentation and some
sample calculations are included.

Subject: [*] MicNotePad Lite 3.7.9
MicNotePad Lite 3.7.9 fixes a type 1 error which occurred only when opening
on some configurations.
MicNotePad is an easy to use, enhanced, digital tape recorder. Its
significant features are: It also is a transcriber. It works reliably.
It is easy to use. It works in the background. It uses only half a
megabyte of RAM. 70 pages on-screen user guide are built in.
MicNotePad is being used for dictation, transcription, and archiving.
MicNotePad is being used to record test flights, interviews, lectures,
meetings, performances, and kids.
To fully explore MicNotePad, switch to both Large View and Full Menus. In
spite of its ease of use and reliability, MicNotePad's long list of
features include: Superior sound quality, yet one hour fits into only
14MB, adjustable sound formats, optional automatic playback, rewinding, and
locking, unique markers, sound check, adjustable sound input gain level,
adjustable key combinations, adjustable playback speed while keeping
original pitch, notification, selection of sound input device, AppleScript
scriptability, drag and drop onto email messages, playback of many aif, au,
wav, and system sound files, some optimization to allow transfer from and
to audio tapes, compatibility with search engines, totally transparent
compatibility across the hardware platform from the PowerBook 140 to the
Power Macintosh 9500. It even allows to use regular external microphones
with the PowerBook 5300 series without using any hardware adapters.
Balloon Help often clarifies when minor features are not available on
specific Macintosh models and describes some more power features.
MicNotePad is a speech product that is well integrated into the word
processing paradigm. Other than most other speech products, it works for
any language, accent, number of speakers, background noise, or topic.
Beyond uses in journalism, legal and medical transcription, and higher
education, it also serves well in language study, speech therapy, with
attention deficit disorder, and for creative writing.
Limitations for some users only: Because of contractual issues, the
current free MicNotePad Lite 3.7.9 is not functional in Japan. Also, for
any Mac model that will be introduced after summer of 1996 you might have
to come back for a newer version. If that occurs, then it is obvious
immediately, and you can send an e-mail to the authors to accelerate
development of a new version (your vote for the budget). The authors hope
to remove such limitations sometime soon.

Subject: [*] Mister Monster Maker 1.0
The attached file contains Mister Monster Maker 1.0, a companion
application to Sword Dream, the role playing game for Macintosh.
Sword Dream is a modular, never-ending game: the application itself is just
an engine which allows the player to enjoy the actual adventure (also known
as a "scenario"). There are currently five different scenarios available,
and at least four more are under development.
In the past, Scenario developers had to use ResEdit to create their worlds.
Mister Monster Maker can be used instead of ResEdit: its helpful templates,
inspired by the Assistants in ClarisWorks, allow the designer to create
freely, and quickly: monsters and treasures, spells and encounters and more
- over a dozen entities.
This new utility is part of an on-going effort to relase a completely new
version of the game - Sword Dream 3D, which will hopefully be finished
before Christmas.
MMM is accelerated for PowerPC. For all details of the program, or to

words and translations to the dictionary. This adds three commands: Add,
Modify and Remove/revert.
Added a list that shows all modifications the user has made to the main
dictionary. The modifications are kept in a separate file so they are not
affected by version upgrades of the main dictionary.
Added two commands to import tab-delimited text to modify the dictionary.
It is now very easy to add custom vocalbury to the program, any text file
on tab-separated form can be imported both directly and through the
clipboard!
Removed the floating translation window.
Simplyfied the interface by placing the translation list below the word
list. Translations can be dragged directly from this list to other
programs that support drag and drop.
A native PowerPC version is now available, previous problems with
PowerMacs running 7.5.3 solved.

I made the original submittal of these files, and as I noted in the

The "Halloween StartUp Sound" is seasonal sound file that can be used to

- message composing;
- address books;
- mailboxes;
- operations on messages;
- miscellaneous CommuniGator features;
* When the server connection drops, unfinished letters can be saved on the
disk.

Cc addresses.
* The editing commands are supported in the Select Address dialog box.
* The new Server 2.4 address states are displayed (suspended, delayed, etc)

Subject: [*] CommuniGate Server 2.5 - Native OT, Kanji & dial-up
The kernel part of the CommuniGate integrated messaging system is the
CommuniGate Server. When installed, it runs in background and:
* stores all messages sent and received;
* enables network access for CommuniGate users, maintains their mailboxes,
queues, etc.;
* loads and runs CommuniGate modules (i.e. FaxGate, UUCPGate, VoiceGate,
etc.) and creates the run-time environment for those modules;
* maintains system activity log;
* implements routing algorithms;

For all details of the program, or to

running System 6.0.8 thru 7.5.3 rev 2.
Documentation and installation instructions in the accompanying TeachText
file.
The data file doesn't have any of the newer (i.e. post CFM) values, but I
could be encouraged to add them.

Subject: [*] Word Translator 2.1
This latest version of Word Translator, a foreign language dictionary
program adds several new features to the application. A number of bugs
have been removed and the interface is now even simpler and easer to use.
It is now possible to change and add translations to the dictionaries.
The Word Translator web site has further information, numerous demo
dictionaries and useful information: http://www.tv.is/dori
This file contains several sample dictionaries but the whole selection is
available at the web site as well as in the included manual.
Sample dictionaries included:
English-Russian, English-Spanish, English-Portuguese
English-German, English-Italian, English-Finnish
Summary of new features and changes in this version:
Added a menu that allows access to dictionaries from within any program.
With this feature Word Translator can be used to translate words from
any text from all Macintosh applications. This is compatible with
Netscape and e-mail programs so you can look up words from web-pages and
e-mail documents.
Activated the user dictionary function that. Users can now add their own
words and translations to the dictionary.

Hi, I study Industrial Engineering and I'd like to know if there is any
engineering package or solution for Newtons (I own a 110 message pad). I

Subject: remove items from archive
Could you please remove the following items from the Info-Mac archive:
/_Communication/_Appletalk/localtalk-bridge-ot-patch.hqx
/_Communication/_Appletalk/lw-bridge-ot-patch-202.hqx
I made the original submittal of these files, and as I noted in the
release notes for each of these files, they were only intended as
temporary patches until Apple released LW/LT Bridge 2.1. Apple has now
released these utilites and thus my patches are no longer necessary. The
path for the Apple utilites is:
/Apple_SW_Updates/US/Macintosh/Networking-Communications/
Other_N-C/LT_and_LW_Bridge_2.1.sea.hqx
Thanks,
Caleb
