Subject: [*] ACR-NEMA 1.2.1 - Acquisition Plug In for PhotoShop

ACR-NEMA Acquire is a plug-in module for PhotoShop and other programs
that allow the use of PhotoShop acquisition modules. (The PhotoShop
acquisition module interface has become a defacto standard for acquiring
images from such devices as scanners, and for converting images from
foreign file types, and is supported by many Macintosh graphics software
programs.) The ACR-NEMA plug-in allows you to import ACR-NEMA image
files into any such PhotoShop Plug-in compatible program.

1.2.1
Changed contact information. New email address, and US Mail address.
Made some minor updates to ReadMe file. No functional (i.e. code)
changes.

Subject: [*] Airport IDs 2.3 (w/ file)

** UPDATE **
Version 2.3 adds the following:
1. Calculates air distance between locations that have Lat/Long
information (many requests for this one)
2. Checks for datafile sent from finder (if you double-click the
datafile instead of the app)
3. Miscellaneous other stuff
(2.3a)
4. Adds 'Register' program to facilitate registering Airport IDs
5. Adds the MINWINDOW command to stick the window to the minimum size
when dragging.

Bundled with the application are the following files:
1. Airport IDs (3-letter)
2. Airline IDs (2-letter and 3-letter)
3. ATA Codes
4. Telephone Area Codes (US/Canada)

A 4-letter Airport ID datafile is available for separate download since
it is quite hefty (over 6600 records).

If you cannot locate a datafile that you want please check out:
http://www.netten.net/~montylee/AirportInfo.html

** OVERVIEW **
Airport IDs is a neat little utility that allows you to search for
Airport/City locations by name or ID code. It returns all records that
match your criteria (truncates list if over 32K characters). Registered
users can display the location on a world map and export/import the
database to make modifications/corrections as they desire.

Thank you to users who have previously registered Airport IDs; you do
not need to register this new version. The registration cost is only $7
(free for FedEx employees) so please register if you decide to keep this
program. Site licenses are available.

Subject: [*] AutoLaunch 1.0.7

AutoLaunch is a screen saver "engine" that launches an application after
your Macintosh has been idle for a specified amount of time. It's great
for running stand-alone MacroMedia Director movies as screen savers,
executing AppleScript applets during idle time, restarting demos after a
person walks away from an in-store Mac, etc. It will also keep
applications like FileMaker Pro Server in the foreground so they run faster
when the server is unattended.

AutoLaunch is capable of locating an application anywhere on a Mac's hard
disk, making distribution of Director presentations much easier - you don't
have to worry about installation procedures or that users will move the
presentation to another folder - it'll always work.

Also included with the AutoLaunch control panel are AppleScript examples
for using JPEGView to run a slide show, and to turn file sharing on during
idle time and off at wake-up.

In addition to the standard internet archives, information and updates are
available at:

AutoLaunch is shareware, and may also be included on the UMich and Info-Mac
CD-ROMs.

Changes in this release

- Version 1.0.6 contained a bug that could cause the control panel to
crash on Macs running System 7.0 or 7.1. This release resolves that
problem.

Subject: [*] BibTeX version 1.10

main changes: it's now 10 times faster, and you can set your
search path without resedit. See the readme for more details.

What is BibTeX?

BibTeX is the bibliography handling tool related to the TeX/LaTeX
typesetting system (available on almost all conceivable OS platforms).
When a document is typeset with LaTeX, an auxiliary file (with extension
'.aux') is generated. This auxiliary file contains, amongst other things,
a list of references (to books, articles, research reports, web-url's,...)
cited in the original document. BibTeX takes this list, together with the
name of a style file (extension '.bst') and a list of bibliography
databases (extension '.bib') which are also given in the auxiliary file,
and produces a wonderfully formatted list of references which the LaTeX
system subsequently (and automatically) appends to your typeset document.

Hence BibTeX is really not at all useful without TeX/LaTeX (there are
several freeware/shareware/commercial versions for the MacOS: OzTeX,
CMacTeX, DirecTeX Pro, Textures). In fact this version of BibTeX is now
distributed with OzTeX 2.0 or newer. It is useful to have a good text
editor which knows about the particular format of LaTeX documents: on the
Mac, the editor Alpha is indispensible in this regard, both for editing and
for its apple-event communication with the various parts of a LaTeX system.

For those who think this sounds a bit too complicated, the benefits in
terms of quality of output (both textual and mathematical) and automatic
generation of all manner of numbering schemes (figures, equations,
sections), and document parts (table of contents, index, bibliography),
together with cross-platform availability, mean that many people consider
it the _best_ current system for producing quality documents.

-- Vince

You can put this on the info-mac CD.

Subject: [*] CatFinder 2.0.2

CatFinder is a powerful disk management tool that catalogs your disks and
provides an intuitive Finder-like interface for browsing the catalogs.
Floppies, hard disks, CD ROMs, any disk can be cataloged. Once a disk is
cataloged you can quickly and easily browse it's contents without having
the disk mounted. CatFinder also offers powerful find and report
features that will help you find and organize your files.

Version 2.0.2 corrects a bug that caused CatFinder to crash when
cataloging disks on some systems.

Version 2.0 includes major functional enhancements including:

1. Drag and drop cataloging: Simply drag a disk icon onto the CatFinder
icon and it will be cataloged.
2. File and disk icons: CatFinder's views have a new look. CatFinder
will look up and display the appropriate icons for files. The icon that
CatFinder displays to represent a disk now reflects the type of disk.
3. Adjustable fonts: The fonts used in views and reports are adjustable.
4. More file and disk information: CatFinder catalogs and displays more
file information. You can now view, find, and report on file name, size,
type, kind, creator, label, creation date, and modification date.
5. More powerful find: The find feature has been significantly expanded
to allow for more complex searches.
6. Catalog reports: A new report called the "Catalog Report" has been
added. This generates a report on the disks that you have cataloged
including the disk name, size, free space, type, creation date,
modification date, number of files, and number of folders.
7. Reports on folders: File reports can now be generated on individual
folders as well as entire disks.
8. "Info" command: A command called "Info" has been added to the File
menu. This command is similar to the Finders "Get Info" command. "Info"
will display details about disks, files, and folders that you have
cataloged.

Version 3.03

The purpose of Do It All! Calendar is to manage changing priorities,
deadlines, regularly occurring events, and appointments, in an intuitive
and visual way. You can log and/or export completed jobs and postponed
jobs. I designed Do It All! Calendar as an organizational tool for anyone
who needs to prioritize as well as keep track of a busy schedule. Although
I wrote the original version for myself, I have spent much time
embellishing Do It All! Calendar for the public. Because I want this
program to be useful to everyone, I greatly encourage all suggestions,

Subject: [*] FloorTiles 2.0

FloorTiles is a puzzle/arcade game for the Mac. It's in the spirit of Tetris
and Columns, but is NOT just a clone of either of those games. It's a totally
unique and original game in which you place 4-color (or 4-pattern, on B&W
monitors) tiles on a grid and try to match colors with already-placed tiles.
Very simple to learn, but fun and challenging to play. Requires both quick
thinking and quick reflexes. This is version 2.0 of FloorTiles; a
much-enhanced update to the original FloorTiles, which has earned a great
deal of critical acclaim (see below). FloorTiles is actually 3 distinct games
in one package. The 3 games are similar in some respects, but each requires a
different strategic approach. Furthermore, each game can be played on either
the full-sized "Big Board" , or a smaller, quicker "Small Board", and each
game can be played in an arcade "Timer" mode or a leisurely "No-Timer" mode.
Thus, there are a total of twelve variations (3x2x2) available in this one
small program. Instructions are included in the game, under the "Guide" and
Apple menus.

Note: FloorTiles 2.0 is a shareware re-release of my commercial game "Macao",
formerly published by Axis Software.

FloorTiles runs in color on 256 color or better systems, and in glorious B&W
otherwise. Requires System 7.0 or later, 750K free RAM, any size monitor.

Shareware, $12.00.

Subject: [*] Font-o-rama! 1.3.1

Font-o-rama! dramatically simplifies font selection. If you spend any
time at all scrolling through font menus, testing different font styles,
or trying to get just the right font size, then Font-o-rama! will save
you time.

It's a dialog box with a huge multi-column list area that's big enough
to display all your fonts at once. So you don't have to scroll through
a long font menu looking for "Garamond Ultra Italic." You just click
on it. Or type "Ga" to go directly to it.

Font-o-rama! works in common applications like PageMaker, QuarkXPress,
or Microsoft Word.

Changes in 1.2 include the addition of a short description of each
font, fonts automatically grouped by family, fonts optionally displayed
in their own typeface, and much faster display times.

Changes in 1.3 include printing catalogs of fonts.

Requires: System 7.1

Moderators: Font-o-rama! may be included on the commercially available
CD-ROM of the archives.

Subject: [*] Johns WP Window Manager 2.0.1

This set of five macros for WordPerfect 3.x:

1) goes through all open windows, asking for each if you want to save and
close, just close, or leave open. You can opt to close all windows at
once, save all, or print all.

2) tiles all open windows horizontally, rather than to the pattern of
approximate squares that the program command produces, so you can read
whole lines of text. Tiles windows to standard width.

3) tiles windows horizontally as above, but to the width of the screen.

4) opens a new view of the active window, independently scrollable so you
can view two parts of one document at once.

5) toggles between the top two open windows, saving you the trouble of
cycling through all open windows or selecting the window by name from the
menu.

New in this version: Save All and Print All commands; Tile commands are
button-bar aware; and Close without Saving prompts you to confirm your
choice.

Free for non-commercial distribution and use. May be included on UMich and
Sumex CD's.

Subject: [*] Kinematic Land 1.4

Kinematic Land is a graphic simulation system of kinematic chains for
Macintosh and accelerated for PowerMacintosh. It resolves the position, the
speed and the acceleration of any point and any member. You can edit closed
or opened chains, using blocked and movable points. Standard tools are
available in a palette window to make easy editing. Every member or point
could have indipendent time evolution. You control any kinematic quantity
through an unlimited number of control windows adjustable on your screen.
Some examples are bundled, like the model of a rod & crank in internal
combustion engines, the core mechanism of a textile machine, the principle
of motion-picture projectors. Help system is integrated with an AppleGuide.

Minimum requirements:

MacOS 7.0 or newer, 2 MB free memory for Kinematic Land, 1.5 MB disk space,
QuickDraw 3D (only for PowerMacs), Color QuickDraw.

Suggested requirements:

Subject: [*] Mac Indy Car Racing II Updater 1.0.1

Here is the updater for Mac Indy Car Racing II. This
takes the original 1.0 version to 1.0.1. Sierra tech
support gave permission to post it so here ya go!

Attached is an excerpt from the readme:

IndyCar Racing II 1.0.0-1.0.1 Patch

What the Patch Fixes:

The patch creates a new IndyCar Racing II (IndyCar Racing II 1.0.1)
application and places it in the folder that contains your existing
IndyCar Racing II data. It also updates a data file named OBJS.DAT.

Known Bugs Fixed:

* Added direct support for the Mac T2 Steering Wheel/Pedals Controller.
* A cosmetic problem in the car sets dialog that occured when car sets
were duplicated.
* The program now unlocks the modem configurations file when it opens it
for display in the Communications dialog.
* A crash bug that would occur at ovals during multiplayer qualify where
the joiner car finished qualifying before the sponsor is now fixed.
* A bug where the Macintosh could not sponsor races for DOS/Windows95
versions of IndyCar Racing II has been fixed.
* The program now checks to see if there is enough RAM free to load the
intro and displays the appropriate dialog if there is not.

Happy Racing!

Subject: [*] MADE - Macintosh Application Development Essentials

THIS IS A PUBLIC BETA VERSION - NO REGISTRATION MECHANISM INCLUDED.

MADE is a tiny package of C/C++ code which provides all the lowest-level needs
for a Macintosh application. It is designed for people who are learning, or
know
how to program the Macintosh, but don't have the time, energy or desire to
write
basic menu, event, memory and error handling routines.

Despite its small size, MADE includes several features specifically designed to
help the development process; allowing potential crashes to be caught before
testing, and various methods to turn intermittent errors into ones that happen
every time (perhaps you think that's a bad idea!)

The other two areas in which MADE helps are AppleEvents and the Drag Manager.
Despite the fact that some projects won't need these, they can be tricky to
implement so I've put them in as switchable options.

If you add the resource and six source files to a Mac 680x0 or PowerPC
project, you'll have a compilable and runnable application, consisting of just
3K of 680x0 code, 5K of PowerPC code, and 2K of resources under CodeWarrior
C/C++. You won't notice the overhead, and you'd need to write it all anyway.

Macintosh Application Development Essentials is shareware.

Ever had a bunch of programs open and all your screen covered with open
documents and you need to go to the desktop quickly ? You'd have to go
"Finder" menu item and then select "Hide Others" or option-click on the
desktop, right?(BTW, option-clicking on the desktop only hides the
frontmost app) Not any more - enter QuikHide - a little extension that
does all this for you.

Here's what QukHide can do:
* The dot is either green ( indicating that you're in the Finder) or red
( you're in an application)
* Click on the dot brings you to the desktop and back to the
application . When you make a click on the dot QuikHide remembers the
app you were in before it jumps to the Finder
* Command - click on the dot (whether you're in the Finder or not)
brings up a dialog that lets you control whether Quikhide will "Hide
Others" when you're in the Finder.
* Option-drag will move the dot anywhere in the menubar - find the
position that is best for your screen
* Control-click on the dot will : If you're in the Finder- Quit all
open applications ; If you're in an app - Quit all apps except the one
you're in

The "Silver Two-Tab Copland Folders" is a set of ResEdit resources and
a few ready made folders to enhance the look of your Macintosh. The
ResEdit resources are designed to replace the 'factory' installed Blue
folders with Silver Two-Tab Copland style folders. The included 'ready
made' folders are designed to enhance the effect by enabling you to place
custom folders onto those folders that normally do not have a custom icon
in your System Folder.

Included in the archive is a "Folder Icon Maker" (version 1.5 or
better) resource file so you can get started making your own Silver

This set works best with System 7.5 or later, but can be used with

Subject: [*] Text2Rsrc 1.0.1

A common problem for the programmer is that of including styled
text into resources. ResEdit provides a nice editor for
manipulating "TEXT" and "styl" resources but otherwise is not a
great text editor. Apple (and just about every CD-ROM supplier)
supply SimpleText which is a reasonable (read: cheap) styled text
editor, but does not save in resource format.

This plugin-compiler for CodeWarrior simplifies the creation of
styled TEXT resources by allowing the user to edit their text in
standard SimpleText source files (with extension .text) and the
compiler will incorporate them as "TEXT/styl" resources. In fact,
the plugin will also process text files created by CodeWarrior
itself and will incorporate the font information defined in the
preferences panel as style information for the entire file.

1.0.1: Corrects a bug where the source file didn't contain a
leading %% - used to drop into MacsBug, not generates an error
message.

or use the plusware numeric keypad. Please note that it is not possible
to write (within Claris) macro for the key menu and that, Quickkeys is
not a reliable solution.

Second: Could someone inform me of telecommunication software=D5s

like to be able to use accentuated letters). I am trying to
avoid using a PPP connection.

Your friend has two copies of the quicktime extension in his extensions

everything will be fine. Or better yet, download version 2.5 from Apple
