Subject: [*] ** OpenStack 1.1 US Pkg **
OpenStack 1.1 Copyrights 1994-1996 by Harry Alloul is a software allowing
you to create easily HyperCard stacks and applications. This software can
be used in total harmony with HyperCard and works on the same principle as
OpenDoc from Apple Computer, Inc. It can manage a lot of ready made objects
(objects or componants are files on disk) like: buttons, fields, texts,
sounds, pictures, QuickTime movies (QT-VR too), OSA scripts (AppleScript,
Frontier, _), HyperTalk scripts, externals commands and functions (XCMDs
and XFCNs), resources, 3DMF... To install an object in your stack you only
have to drag it from the objects palette or from the Finder and drop it on
the current card.
OpenStack requires at least System 7.1 to run and a 2.5 Mo minimum RAM
allocation to HyperCard (or HyperCard Player). OpenStack (full version)
supports the following Apple technologies:
- Apple Guide (System 7.5 at least)
- Macintosh Drag and Drop
- Open Scripting Architecture (AppleScript, Frontier, _) - QuickTime
- QuickTime VR
- QuickDraw 3D (System 7.5 or above and PowerMac only) - Balloons help
- HyperTalk (HyperTalk scripts can be included directly in your object) -
AddColor / Color Tools
(provided with the full version of HyperCard - OpenStack enhances the Color
tools with its own Color Library - QuickColor) - ...

Subject: [*] Airport IDs 1.21
** UPDATE **
Version 1.21 adds the ability to search multiple IDs (up to 25 at a time)
by entering the IDs seperated by a space. I also corrected some spellings
thanks to inputs from users.
** OVERVIEW **
Airport IDs is a neat little utility that allows you to search for
Airport/City locations by name or three-letter ID. It returns all records
that match your criteria (truncates list if over 32K characters).
Registered users can export/import the database to make modifications as
they desire.
Thank you to users who have previously registered Airport IDs; you do not
need to register this new version. The registration cost is only $5 (free
for FedEx employees) so please register if you decide to keep this program.

Subject: [*] MacEEP (app)
This application is a Mac driver for the EEPROM programmer described in the
Nov '95 issue of Electronics Now, p 37.
This device, called the EEP-1, is a reasonably simple programmer that will
program an EEPROM by downloading object code from a file residing on
personal computer. It is based on an 8031/8051 microcontroller and it
interfaces with the computer via the serial port. However, the
communication software required on the personal computer was only supplied
for PCs running DOS.
MacEEP performs the necessary communications with the EEP-1 through the
Mac's modem port. Besides downloading an object file, it has functions to
upload object code from a programmed EEPROM to a file, and erase an EEPROM.
MacEEP also has the capability to generate a binary file from both Intel
and Motorola S19 Hex Records. The resulting binary can then be downloaded
into an EEPROM. Thus, MacEEP can be used with assemblers that output object
code in either of these formats.
Operation is straightforward, and functions are accessed through a simple
graphical interface. Documentation provided with the application provides
the details.

Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia has been sold to Softkey International.

Dear Michael;
Thank you for your e-mail regarding changing the speaking voice in your
Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia. To change the default voice, first remove
all of the voices except the one you want Compton's to use ('Bruce' is a nice
one) from your voices folder (located in your extensions folder). Then restart
and use your Encyclopedia. It will choose that voice as its default. After it
has done so, you can go back and put all of the other voices back into your
voices folder. Compton's will continue to use the voice you chose as the
default.
Please feel free to contact us again if you have any more questions or
concerns.
Sincerely
Cathy Tumlin

I am writing an outline, and as I indent subsections

I would ideally like to be able to set the soft auto
wrap to wrap at more or less exactly the same point
reached at the end of the line above it. In other words,
imagine the following text:
"Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of
water. Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill
came tumbling after. "
I would like to find an BBEdit Light extension that
either (1) forced line 2 above to wrap one space
after the end of the word "crown" on line 1 rather
than at the end of the soft-word-wrap-dictated "Jill",
or forced an automatic carriage return that would
throw a word only partially typed to the beginning
of the next line when I got even with the end of the
line above it, or (2) at least allowed for a bell
or other noise to sound (much like a typewriter)
when I am typing a line of text and reach a point
even with the end of the line immediately above it,
so that I might be alerted and, hitting the return
key on the keyboard, continue typing at the
beginning of the next line (much like a typewriter).
Does such an extension exist, or perhaps is there
a BBEdit-compatible application that will do this
for me?
Thanks very much!

I know nothing about Microsoft's connection with OpenDoc.
What I do know is where to find OpenDoc 1.1
I downloaded cyberdog 1.1b2 myself a couple of days ago and as far as I
know you will only find OpenDoc 1.0.4 at opendoc.apple.com.
The secret is that an OpenDoc 1.1 Pre-Release is available for use with
Cyberdog 1.1 and can be found at cyberdog.apple.com
Just follow the links "Download Cyberdog 1.1 Beta!" and "Download Cyberdog
1.1 Beta Page".
There you will find the link "Download OpenDoc 1.1 Pre-Release".

Subject: How can I access WinNT RAS server using Mac?
My company's file servers run under WinNT. In order to remotely access
these servers, I am told that I need to run Remote Access System (RAS)
included with Win95 or WfW. My company's MIS spec sheet says that I will be
using "dial-up networking" with TCP/IP network protocol.
Questions:
1. Is there any Macintosh (68K and/or PPC) software that will let me
"emulate" Win95 RAS and "see" WinNT file server drives?
2. Does SoftWindows95 support dial-up networking into WinNT RAS servers

11) Why does FreePPP/MacPPP sometimes spontaneously connect?
This should only happen when using MacTCP (thanks to Vladimir Butenko of
Stalker Software for
finding the cause). There is an internal timer in MacTCP that will cause
a connection attempt
approximately 5.5 hours after a session is closed. FreePPP adds the
Disable Auto Connect option
which eliminates this problem by requiring all sessions to be manually
opened.
So Disable Auto Connect.

There's something in this, except you're speaking in the past tense. More

Problem:
I am trying to include a table in an ordered list with so-called "
microsooooft Internet Assistant" (version 2.0). it should look like:
1. blah blah
2. blah blah
A table here
3. blah blah
4. blah blah
However, Word 6.0.1 did not understand this structure, it reformated the
file, so the list after the table became an unordered list. It looked like
this:
1. blah blah
2. blah blah
A table here
-. blah blah
-. blah blah
If you open the file with text editor and manually change the HTML tags,
Word will reformat it back according Word's irritating logic, even though
"Internet Explorer" opened the file with desired result.
Question:
Is there a workaround?
Thanks in advance.

- HyperTalk (HyperTalk scripts can be included directly in your object) -

tools with its own Color Library - QuickColor) - ...

Documentation provided with the application provides
the details.

starving artist cash as bottles of Resolve Carpet Cleaner to get the paint

Description
SoundMachine is a user friendly sound file player for common audio formats
such as m-law (mu-law), AIFF and WAVE. It supports a simple interface and
is well suited to Web browsers or as a stand-alone application. It has been

is a so-called Fat Binary). However, depending on the sound format being
played the performance of SoundMachine is limited by the speed of the
Macintosh.
System Requirements
SoundMachine requires System 7. The most recent version of Apple$B%f(Js

Sound Support
SoundMachine currently supports the following common sound formats:

I didn't get any responses from other users, but here is what I found.
Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia has been sold to Softkey International.
I don't know what this means for maintenance, or what the current
relationship is between Compton and Softkey. Base on the return
address of the reply I got, there must also be a relationship with The
Learning Company.

Dear Michael;

Subject: BBEdit Lite as a typwwriter?
I just started using BBEdit Lite and have a question.
I am writing an outline, and as I indent subsections
of text on the left, I would like to also be able to
set some sort of rough margin on the right that varies
with each subsection. I have set the "soft word wrap"
and "auto indent" options of BBEdit Lite so that lines
of text do not just continue to the right indefinitely,
but I am still not getting exactly what I want. I guess
Dale Bricker

2. Does SoftWindows95 support dial-up networking into WinNT RAS servers
with TCP/IP?
I currently use Quadra 700 (System 7.5.3 r.2; 20Mb RAM; 500Mb HDD). Thanks
for your help!

More
3.1 has a place of honor on this Mac, and works nicely under 7.5.3.
I've seen the rumour that Dave Winer is thinking of taking More back from
Symantec (Go! Dave!) and doing something with it again. Wish he would, it
is indeed a wonderful thing, killer app then and now. Let's all email

Subject: Netscape & Attachments
I am utilizing Netscape 2.02 on a Centris 660AV, and am having
difficulty sending e-mail with attachments. Recently, I sent 2 seperate
pieces of mail with a 32K JPEG file attached. It took almost 10 minutes
to send each piece of mail. One was sent to an address at the same ISP,
and could not be retrived; the ISP had to be called to remove it from
the server. The other arrived at a Prodigy address as gobbledegook text.
Is there something wrong with my configuration, or is it a problem with
my ISP (who's essentially clueless...they don't like Macs). Any help
greatly appreciated...

Subject: Word Internet Assistant problems
