Subject: [*] A Day in the Life, existence calculator

A Day in the Life is a simple program that calculates the number of days
you were alive during your birth year and the total number of days you have
been alive up to, but excluding today. This requires that your clock is set
to the correct date.

This program has a text/console interface because it is written in standard
ANSI C++, no mac interface, sorry.

Subject: [*] ARACommander 2.1 demo

ARACommander 2.1 is a control panel that works with the resources and
extensions of ARA to provide a more complete, flexible, easier-to-use, and
more secure alternative to Apple's client software. It requires Apple's ARA
1.0 or 2.x software and System 7.x. This version has been updated
specifically to be compatible with Apple's ARA 2.1, and it's use of a
"Modem Scripts" folder. Also new for ARAScripter 2.1 is the ablility to
turn ARA "Answer calls" on or off via AppleScript.

This is a fully functional demonstration version that will expire 30 days
after first use. The file is also avaiable at:

ARACommander 2.1 features include a full scheduling capability. Connections
can be scheduled at any time and be completely unattended. Disconnection
can be unattended as well, by specifying a number of minutes of idle time
before disconnection occurs.

Full support for scripting with AppleScriptt is also provided. A special
application called ARAScripter serves as a scriptable ARA client. Scripters
may enable any of the features of ARACommander through script commands, and
have full control over the entire range of the connection process.

One of the central features of ARACommander are Connectors, mini
applications that go beyond the basic capabilities of Apples's connection
documents or ARA aliases. The ARACommander control panel can create
Connectors that automatically connect to an ARA server when launched. You
can also use the control panel to connect to an ARA server.

ARACommander is $25, with site licenses available. Visa and Mastercard
accepted.

Announcing *** Aurora 4.0 ***

Aurora is a control panel that allows you to color menus, buttons, windows,
and the text highlight color. It is a full replacement for the Color
control panel that Apple ships with all Macs.

Ever wanted a blue scroll bars? Give them a try! Ever wanted mauve menu
bar? Now's your chance! With Aurora, you are on your way to customizing,
and personalizing, your Macintosh!

New in version 4.0:

A lot. Aurora 4.0 is a total, ground up rewrite. Here's a list of new
features:

% Support for multiple color sets
% Totally redesigned main window that shows all your color settings in one
window.
% Totally redesigned set editors that show the color of a given attribute
next to the name
% Support for changing the highlight color -- replaces Apple's Color
control panel!
% Even more balloon help!
% Removing Aurora also restores window and control colors % More robust
error handling
% fixed some drawing bugs (and a long outstanding GetFontInfo() bug) % A
"Current Environment" set that when selected will keep your system colored
the way it was when you started -- an "undo" of sorts

Subject: [*] Capitalizer BBEdit Extension

What it is:

This is a little BBEdit extension that I wrote for myself, and I'm
giving it away for free! I used the sample extension called
"Capitalize" that came with BBEdit, and made it a little more flexible.
Now it will handle more capitalization chores.

What it does:

* Have you ever wanted to change a whole block of text from uppercase to
lowercase?
* Have you ever wanted to quickly change a title to an appropriate title case?
* Have you ever needed to uppercase a bunch of words at once?

Have you? And did you really want to re-type all that stuff yourself?
No?

Well then have I got an extension for you!

The Capitalizer will let you do all of that, and a little more!
Capitalizer is a utility that allows you to change the case of text in
a selection in various ways. You can change all selected text to:
* UPPER CASE
* lower case
* Title Case
* Sentence case.

If you're like me, and I know I am, you'll just love it!

Subject: [*] eLetter 1.00

Overview
eLetter is a Macintosh shareware utility that provides facilities for the
creation and editing of a template letter that may then be merged with data
>From a database and then either printed or despatched via email or fax.
eLetter achieves this by providing a software interface between the
database product FileMaker Pro and either the email program Eudora or one
of the Fax programs FaxSTF, Fax Express, 4-Sight Fax or Faxcilitate 2.1.

eLetter allows the maintenance of any number of 'letters' each of which has
eight operational parameters associated with it. The parameters define such
details as the name of the database from which data is to be taken to
generate the outgoing letters and the name of the database fields from
which data is to be taken to address the outgoing email or fax
transmissions.

The template letter itself consists of styled text with an upper limit of
32,000 characters. The letter may contain any number of constructs that
consist of ''. eLetter provides an easy to
use mechanism for inserting such constructs into the text of the letter.
When the letters are compiled, these constructs are recognised and replaced
by the appropriate data from each database record. For instance, the
following line...

Dear ,

...would be replaced by the associated data from the 'Customer Title' and
'Customer Surname' fields of each record of the database, to produce, for
example...

Dear Mr George,

Once a template letter has been defined it may be tested against the
database. This is done by allowing the operator to step through the
database a record at a time, merging the data from each record with the
template letter to produce a compiled letter that is then displayed.

Once satisfied with the content and structure of the letter, the operator
may then 'process' the letter. Processing involves reading each database
record in the 'found set' (that subset of records created by the last
'Find' operation) and generating a custom letter for each. The compiled
letters are then either printed or sent via email or fax.

Requirements
a) System 7.5 or later.
b) AppleScript 1.1 or later.

Helper Applications
eLetter uses the following products -

a) Eudora Light (or any version after version 1.5.0)
b) FileMaker Pro, version 2.1 onwards
c) Fax Express 3.1 Vers. 3.0
d) FaxSTF 3.2
e) 4-Sight Fax

Subject: [*] FlightCheck 2.41 Demo

FlightCheck is an advanced preflighting tool for Macintosh-based prepress
facilities, service bureaus, commercial printers and graphic artists..
FlightCheck is an AppleScript-compatible stand-alone application which
scans documents for potentially job-haulting faults and offers ways to fix
them. It preflights documents created by most versions of QuarkXPress,
PageMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, and FreeHand. This demonstration version
can not save or print. A manual for the program is available at our web
site at http://www.ledet.com/markzware/.

It will automatically report information like fonts used (including those
used inside nested EPS files), what type of fonts (Type 1, Multiple Master,
TrueType, etc.), resolution and format of bitmaps, color definitions,
trapping information, whether any necessary graphics or fonts are missing,
etc. The collected data can be automatically entered into any user
customizable form which can be saved as an EPS file. It is a stand alone
application and can be run on a customer service mac or dedicated preflight
machine. It does not require any other application to be installed on the
preflight workstation.

For graphic artists, the application will automatically collect all
document elements including screen and printer fonts, images, required
Xtensions, etc.

This commercial demo cannot print reports or save files. The full
commercial application retails for $399 in single user copies. Ordering
information is inside the program.

Subject: [*] Menu Bar Pattern 1.3.2

A number of programs already exist to decorate the Mac desktop, but this
control panel allows you to extend decoration to the menu bar. As the name
implies, you can give the menu bar its own background pattern, but there is
also a transparent mode in which the desktop pattern or picture shows
through the menu bar. A simple bitmap editor is built in to the control
panel to allow editing patterns with up to 256 colors. Control panel
installs either 68K or PPC-native patches, as appropriate.

Changes since version 1.3:
Fixed a few intermittent memory problems with importing and/or displaying
patterns.

System requirements:
* Any Mac with Color Quickdraw
* Monitor with 16 or more colors
* System 6.0.4 or higher (tested thru 7.5.3)

For more information, please read the 'Bar Pattern Doc' file enclosed.

Subject: [*] SuperGraph 1.1.1 - implicit graphing program

This file replaces . In addition, I sent version
1.1, which this should also replace. I don't know if 1.1 ever made it to
the archive, though.

SuperGraph is a powerful, easy-to-use, inexpensive program to graph
explicit and implicit mathematical functions. Implicit expressions, ones
that cannot easily be solved for either x or y, have presented a challenge
to visualize. SuperGraph makes that a thing of the past.

For example, SuperGraph can graph complex expressions in two variables like
y^2(y-1)-x^2(y^2-1)+2xy^2-x^4=0. And it's only $15 shareware (payable
through Kagi Shareware or directly to the author at 90 Maple Drive, Great
Neck, NY 11021).

SuperGraph differs from Apple's Graphing Calculator in its flexibility and
customizability when dealing with implicit expressions (which Graphing
Calculator does not directly support) and in its ability to run on 680x0
(non-PowerPC) Macintosh computers.

SuperGraph is especially suited to demonstrating various implicit
expressions and techniques of sketching them in a classroom situation.

SuperGraph requires a Macintosh with a 68020 or higher processor and System 7.

More information about SuperGraph is available at
.

Changes since 1.1:
Fixes a bug that would not allow certain types of input in certain dialog
boxes.
Fixes a minor error in the read me file.

Changes since 1.0a:
Implicit graphing is approximately 300% faster on PowerPC and 50% faster on
68K.
Sqr(), Sqrt(), Abs() and hyperbolic functions are supported. Background
graphing is possible.
Supports multiple windows.
Directly supports 68K Macs with and without FPU math coprocessors. Saved
documents contain all relevant information about the graph. Can open files
(including its own files and standard PICT files). Supports stationery and
preferences files. The PowerPC version includes Motorola's LibMoto for
faster mathematical computation.
Better memory management.
System 7.0 is required.

This is a picture of the Superman symbol with a cape behind it. It was made
with the help of Ray Dream Designer and Photoshop with a Power Mac. It is
sized to fit perfectly on a 14" moniter so it is perfect for a startup
screen. All you need to do is convert the picture into a picture resouce.
If you like it please feel free to email me.

Subject: [*] Synk 2.0.6

Synk is a PowerPC native backup/synchronization program that can resolve
aliases and archive old files. It is shipped as a FAT binary, suitable for
both PowerPC and original Macintoshes.

You can backup a folder full of aliases, making it simple to modify your
backup or synchronization strategy by dropping file or folder aliases into
the defined folder.

It is just as easy to distribute synchronized files throughout a
PowerBook's hard drive by synchronizing two folders containing aliases.

Any number of file types, creators and file endings may be skipped.

Obsolete files and folders can be archived into a folder.

Other features include:
- complete log of actions
- obsolete files can be deleted, trashed or archived
- collisions are conveniently placed in a folder on the Desktop

Synk 2.0.6 is $10 US shareware. Upgrades from previous version of Synk are
free to registered users.

Version History:
2.0.6
- fixed a problem resulting in -48 errors when backing up aliases in
certain situations

2.0.5
- fixed a problem backing up a System Folder

2.0.4
- during a Backup, can leave old files alone stored in the destination
folder that no longer exist in the source folder
- can be set to resolve only the "top" level folders and files
- "drag and drop" folders into the Synk document window (requires System 7.5)

2.0.3
- unreleased version

2.0.2
- documents opened from Finder can be optionally run automatically, making
it compatible with files placed in the Startup or Shutdown folders

2.0.1
- original shipped version
