Subject: [*] Adam's Plug In 1.0.7
Howdy folks!
Enclosed is the latest and greatest version of my Eudora Plug-in (v1.0.7)
which adds the following panels to your Eudora Settings (from the Read-Me):
Color/Desktop: Let's you change some of the colors that Eudora uses and how
much of the Desktop you see.
X-Headers: Let's you add your own X-Headers (it's fun. Trust me!).
Misc. Settings: Changes the Send button text, default text strings and the size
that files are split at. You can also change the (Recipient List Suppressed) to
whatever you want.....
Stationery/Text: Change the stationery file name and tweak how text appears, as
well as editing stuff for forwards.
Ports and Protocols: For the real geeks among us, change how long it takes
before Eudora barfs on you, what port you use or the protocols that you're
using.
Attributions: Instead of "? wrote:", make it something snazzy and insert an
extra .
Date/Time: Change how Eudora displays the time and dates for messages
sent/received.
Connections: Tweak some minor settings for your connections.
Disk Space: Some settings for compacting and buffer size.
From: Change how the From: address reads (ie "Real Name " instead of
"user@host (Real Name)")
Logging: Change what is logged and what ain't, as well as the size of your
logging files.
Suppressed Headers: That's right, suppress the headers that bug you! Normally
done with ResEdit, now via Eudora!
If you like it, all I ask is some email telling me that you use it, and if you
don't, then tell me what you don't like and I'll see what I can do!
Also, I'm working on web pages for help/instructions. Check them out!

Subject: [*] ART Music 3.5.3
ART Music is a translator that converts Finale EPS files to Illustrator
format, so you can edit a page of music just like a graphic (add color,
other graphics, move notes, etc.). ART Music is FAT; it runs on 680x0
computers and runs native on Power Macintoshes. Version 3.5.3 maintains
compatibility with Finale 3.5.x, and fixes a couple of minor bugs in
previous ART Music 3.5.x releases. See the Readme file for specifics.

Subject: [*] Binary Pump 2.15
Binary pump is a file organization tool which acts as an agent,
moving files to folders based upon rules. For example, it can
move all files of types "JPEG" to a folder called "Pictures".
In addition to folders, Binary Pump can also send files to applications
or outright delete them.
In addition, Binary Pump includes file identification features which
utilize both binary tags and file name extentions to identify files.
It can also decode MacBinary II files.
Binary Pump also includes utilities for accessing deeply nested
folders/apps without the mess of aliases all over the desktop.
The archive contains a comprehensive User's Guide in MS Word
format, containing an Index, Table of Contents, Pictures, and more.
Binary Pump is a Fat-Binary.
Shareware: $20
Changes in version 2.15

PowerPlant 1.3 and 1.4
The best one is CPreferenceDialog, just get it and you'll see...
that this class is design for creating a preferences dialog box

and that you can create it using Constructor v2.x.
You can copy this package, distribute it where you want but it
must remain in its unmodified entirety it can be put on disks,
CD-ROMs and magazines that charge a reasonable fee for the cost
of distributing it. I would appreciate a copy each of any such
support of distribution. It can be put also on BBS, Compuserve,

Subject: [*] CopyPaste 3.0.2
3.0.2 of CopyPaste fixes a problem with KanjiTalk. Download this version
if you don't have 3.0.1 already.
Highly Recommended! CopyPaste 3.0 has many new features. CopyPaste is a
must have piece of shareware for all editors, writers and anyone that
uses the clipboard. CopyPaste gives your Mac 10 clipboards, clipboard
processing, application switching, tag and drop and many other features.
Its a simple to use utility thats always there. You find yourself using
it all the time and wondering why apple didn't include it.
***** America Online Macintosh Utilities Award Winner 96 *****
Version 3.0 of CopyPaste has been improved and enhanced in many ways
* PowerMac Native Code (faster)
* Lots of new utilities for text processing, date insertion, and world
script.
* Easy access thru the bottom of the Edit menu (you'll love this
feature).
* Extensive built in help.
* Improved application switching.
* Now rewritten in C
* And many other improvements.
One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do
copy and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the
Mac's system and software that have changed and progressed over the
years, copy and paste has not evolved. How many times have you found
yourself going back and forth copying in one application and pasting in a
different application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items
at a time, then go to another application and paste each of these items.
Now you can!

many different tasks during their workday, and like to produce a periodic
accounting of how much time is spent on each of their tasks. Some folks are
required to give such an accounting, others do it for personal time
management. DailyDeeds comes in two flavors: the Free version and the
Payment version. The two versions are identical, except the Payment version
has a few extra features enabled in it. You can copy the Free version
freely and give it to anyone anywhere. Try it yourself for a few months.

Subject: [*] Focus EmailTool v1.0.2
EmailTool is a small application which gives you the ability to
individualize your Email and other correspondence. In less than 15
minutes you can have your favorite settings made and be ready to use this
product. Simply enter one or more signatures, select the one you want,
and click select. Email tool automatically inserts the selected
signature/quote setting at the insertion point of the front-most
application. The neatest feature of the Email Tool is its floating
window which appears on top of all other windows regardless of which
application is currently running. There are no applications to switch
(no dreaded trips to the applications menu) as soon as you move your
mouse on top of its window, EmailTool brings itself to the front and
ready to take your selection!
EmailTool comes with several quotes from important people from our past
and present (Gandhi, Einstein, Twain, etc.) and also some templates you
can use for constructing your personal signatures. No longer you are
limited by a single signature restriction by most Email programs set
yourself free, and look professional while doing so...
Among the key features of the EmailTool are:
- Capability to store and select up to 32,000 signatures.
- Capability to store and select up to 32,000 personalized quotes.
- Easy access from within any application (i.e. word processor,
Email utility, etc.).
- Very small foot print and minimal CPU load.
** System Requirements
- Hardware: All Macintosh and Power Macintosh computers. (Mac Plus
and later)
- System 7.1 and higher.
- 120 K of free memory.

Subject: [*] HandyMan v1.4 - Control Strip Launching Module
HandyMan is a Control/Desktop/Extensions Strip Launching Module.
It is designed to allow quick and easy access to applications, Control Panels,
Desk Accessories, Folders and other documents stored on your Macintosh,
without having to navigate through several RFinder WindowsS or through a
multi-layered, hierarchical Apple menu.
It works by clicking on icons installed in a floating window, or dropping
documents onto them. This approach is much handier than aliases that are on
the desktop because the floating windows that contain the icons can never be
covered by windows. HandyMan also requires a lot less desktop space than the
same number of icons on the desktop.
Most important changes:
% Fixed problem of not properly removing R+S icon when unchecking RShow
Aliases FolderS and RShow Folder StructureS was off (Reported by Jeremy
Keens).
% Drops from documents from the module onto Finder applications work now.
% RAdd Row/ColumnS command added to Configuration menu.
% Introduced catalog files.
% TextLabels can go under the icons now. Shift select RShow TextLabelsS
(Request from Brett Borowski).
% Added Entry Tiling next to Icon Tiling.
% Added vertical Separator (by Chuck Chang original vertical was from Raymond
Carles).
% Dragged icon's can't no longer be dropped on itself.
And several more bugfixes...
see docs for full history.

Bert

Subject: [*] NetCacheBack 0.9d6 applescript
NetCacheBack is a droplet AppleScript application, which
analyses the Cache folder of Netscape Navigator and gives
the real name and location to each cache file.
Requires System 7.5 or later. Or, the scriptable Finder
and other Scripting Additions.
* Changes since 0.9d5, October 26, 1995
(1) Yesterday (oh, what is today?:-), I encountered an
Unidentified Field Object in the CCache log database. This
latent field, which I called "export", was an unexpected one,
though I think most users may not have suffered from it.
NetCacheResolver failed to resolve it properly. I fixed it.
(2) Using preferences file "NetCacheBack Prefs", from which
NetCacheBack reads the operating conditions.
(3) Now, you can choose the optional settings for error
handlings, from TRACELOG, VERBOSE, and OVERRIDE conditions.
Under the default settings, NetCacheBack will not stop its
operation to display the error message dialog, instead will
write down its error status to "NetCacheBack log" file.
(4) When two cache log databases Cache log and CCache log are
residing in the same Cache folder, NetCacheBack sometimes
failed to open the Cache log file. This error might be caused
by a bug of Apple Script Editor 1.1.1, that should miss the
global variable assignment. I fixed it by writing some extra
AppleScript codes.
NetCacheBack is a freeware. You can distribute it without
any limitations nor permission.

Subject: [*] PatchDance 0.4.15b4
Beta release of PowerMac only 3D modeler. Freeware, CDROM okay.
PatchDance is a new 3D graphics package. It is currently limited to
modeling, is PowerMac only, and outperforms essentially everything else
available on the Mac platform. It is patterned after heavy duty
professional software, making it less "pretty" but very powerful. It is
completely vertex-oriented and spline based, and is more suited to organic
type modeling than to CAD or architecture. It is already being used for
real work and has lots of friends in the industry.
Need:
PowerMac, 3MB free RAM (minimum, more is STRONGLY recommended), 256 colors.
To use (optional) QuickDraw 3D, you need at least 16MB RAM (8MB can be made
to work, contact Tech Support).
Nice to have:
Rendering solution. PatchDance can create 3DMF, DXF, and POV Ray files or
save preview renderings in PICT format.
This release is freeware, but a shareware version is planned very soon.

TCPSerial is an Extension which creates a fake serial driver and attached
modem which actually communicate via a TCP/IP connection rather than a
phone line. The main reason for doing this is to allow programs that know
how to communicate via a modem, but not via the Internet, to use the
Internet. One example of such a program is Apple Remote Access (ARA).
Using TCPSerial, it is possible to connect an ARA client to an ARA server
via the Internet.
This is version 1.0.1 of TCPSerial, which is the first public release. It
is free for personal use. It works with the Remote Access Personal Server
and the Remote Access Client, but not with the ARA Multiport Server. It
also does no encryption, the traffic passes over the Internet in clear text
unless higher level software encrypts it.

Try throwing away the preferences files for Netscape and the settings file
for Eudora. We have had recurring problems with Eudora settings files
becoming corrupt and causing all sorts of strange behaviours. Most of us
now keep a "pristine" copy of the settings file for just such an occaision.

You may be right about my knowledge, and you are absolutely
right that the font is incompatible with the Romanian system. But I
challenge you on its usefulness. You do NOT need the Romanian system to
use it, which is hardly a draw-back. And it allows Romanian text to be
written naturally within the American system, without the hassle of modifier
keys. You could say it is my simple answer to a complex problem.

Don't use a macro--hack the Finder, instead.
Open a *copy* of the Finder in ResEdit. Open fmnu resource ID 1255. In
the right hand column, change the third character before the words "Empty
Trash" to a "T" (it's at offset 2C in my Finder). Save the file, drag

When you install ARA 2.0.1 (either the client or the personal server), it
installs an extension called Remote Only. This adds a Remote Only icon
to the Network control panel. Open the Network control panel, select the
Remote Only icon, and then close the Network control panel. Now your Mac
will use AppleTalk only for ARA connections but not for devices connected
to your Printer Port. This is described on pages 47-48 of the manual for
ARA Personal Server 2.0
To use AppleTalk for ARA, you still have to turn on AppleTalk by clicking
the AppleTalk Active radio button in the Chooser. If you like, you can
use the Inactive radio button to turn off AppleTalk when not using ARA.
If you have ARA 1.0, dont buy 2.0.1. Instead, buy the newly released 2.1.

For several years, this was a common problem with Maylasian mice, which

Yes, I will be using ARA 2.0 and System 7.5.3, but I already have it up and

Those files are disabled. Besides being invisible, the file types are
altered so as to keep them from being loaded at startup.
The 7.5.3 "Installing This Update" file says:
"After you install the update, Open Transport will be active only if it was
active before the update was installed. ... On some computers, you can use
the Network Software Selector (in the Apple Extras folder after you install
the update) to switch between Open Transport and classic AppleTalk."
Of course you'll have to restart your Mac after switching the network type.

* PowerMac Native Code (faster)
* Lots of new utilities for text processing, date insertion, and world
script.
* Easy access thru the bottom of the Edit menu (you'll love this
feature).
* Extensive built in help.
* Improved application switching.
* Now rewritten in C
* And many other improvements.
Now you can!

minutes you can have your favorite settings made and be ready to use this
product. Simply enter one or more signatures, select the one you want,
and click select. Email tool automatically inserts the selected
signature/quote setting at the insertion point of the front-most

window which appears on top of all other windows regardless of which
application is currently running.

Bert

NetCacheBack is a droplet AppleScript application, which

the real name and location to each cache file.
Requires System 7.5 or later. Or, the scriptable Finder
and other Scripting Additions.
* Changes since 0.9d5, October 26, 1995

QUAD-Plot 1.12 ) 1996, Robin Harmon, PlaNet-3 Software.
A Quick And Easy Plotter For the Mac!
------------------------------------
- Introduces the PowerPC version of QUAD-Plot. This runs up to 4 times
faster than the emulated code on a PowerPC machine!
Also included are a small number of additions and bug-fixes since
version 1.11:
Additions:
---------
- Added "Close All" item on File menu to enable quick closing of all open
windows.
- Added list of open plot windows to Plot Menu.
- Simpler registration, from anywhere in the world, through Kagi Shareware.
The bug fixes are listed in the file "Changes" that accompanies the program.
QUAD-Plot is SHAREWARE but it is FULLY functional!
Registered users of any previous version are also registered to use
version 1.12.
For users who are new to QUAD-Plot:
----------------------------------
QUAD-Plot is a plotting program that is ideal for scientists, teachers and
students at all levels. It takes any file of tabular data in the form of
ASCII text (Mac or PC) and allows you very quickly to produce and print
high quality plots. Indeed our design philosophy has been to make plotting
data easier and faster than possible in other plotting packages.
Requirements:
------------
QUAD-Plot requires System 7.0 or later with at least 768 kilobytes of
free memory (1 megabyte for the PowerPC version).

(c) 1995-1996 by Gregory D. Landweber, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
By the coauthor of Aaron and author of Greg's Buttons and Greg's Browser.
SmoothType is a tiny extension that makes your screen look more like the
printed page. Using a technique called anti-aliasing, SmoothType blurs the
jagged edges of bitmap fonts with shades of gray, effectively doubling your
screen resolution. SmoothType requires a fast machine, a high resolution
monitor, and TrueType or PostScript (with ATM) fonts. Shareware Fee: $5.
SmoothType 1.0 (previous versions were called Greg's Hack) improves
color text and text on color or pattern backgrounds, and it anti-aliases the
text in more applications. It also fixes a problem with the HP DeskWriter.

Subject: [*] TCPSerial 1.0.1

TIMM 1.3 is a fast and easy to use Macintosh offline mail reader for the
QWK mail format found on many Bulletin Boards.
An off-line mail reader lets you read and respond to messages in packages
that you have downloaded from a BBS, at your convenience. This way, you can
enjoy "BBSing" without tying up your telephone line, running up excessive
long-distance charges, or worrying about running out of time on your
favorite BBS.
TIMM includes full searching and filtering facilities, has a full featured
tagline manager and an address book which support groups and multiple
recipients. Filtering lets you eliminate mail from annoying people, and
with the searching functions you can search in the mail based on message
text, sender, subject etc. TIMM automatically handles long Internet
addresses and subjects, and can open multiple QWk packets simultaneously.

The WADenizer is a utility for converting Doom II WAD add-on files so they

conversion from Doom to Doom II. It can also extract parts of the files,

Try throwing away the preferences files for Netscape and the settings file
for Eudora. We have had recurring problems with Eudora settings files
becoming corrupt and causing all sorts of strange behaviours. Most of us
now keep a "pristine" copy of the settings file for just such an occaision.
If that doesn't help, a clean install of System 7.5.2 and System 7.5.3
would be a good bet.

Save the file, drag
your old Finder to another folder for safekeeping, and drop the modified
version into your System Folder. After you restart, the Special menu will
have a Command-T shortcut for Empty Trash.
I've been doing this for years, since System 7.0.1, and have never had a
problem with it.

Look at the label on the bottom of your mouse: was it made in Maylasia?
For several years, this was a common problem with Maylasian mice, which
apparently used a failure-prone switch. The solution is replacing the
mouse with a Taiwanese model.

Yes, I will be using ARA 2.0 and System 7.5.3, but I already have it up and
running. Why doesn't it work if you install ARA after 7.5.3? I've done it
many times -- successfully -- on this PowerMac 7100. When it gets really
_major_ problems, I install a clean 7.5.0, the 7.5.3 update, and then ARA,
in that order. It seems to work fine.
Thank you!
