Subject: [*] "Photoshop De-Aggravator" OneClick palette
Ever noticed that certain of Photoshop's keyboard shortcuts for tools in
its floating tool palette are a wee bit inconsistent? M selects Marquee
unless Marquee's already selected, in which case it toggles Marquee
between rectangular and oval. Three other tools are similarly afflicted.
This drove me nuts so I used OneClick to do something about it. With
the De-Aggravator palette installed, these keys will act just like the
others. A letter by itself always selects a tool without changing its
mode; Shift plus a letter switches the modes of tools that can be
switched.
Short and sweet. Hope it proves as useful to other Photoshop users as it
has to me.

Subject: [*] BarbaBatch 1.72 Demo
These are the demos of BarbaBatch, and its additional utilities.
The Macintosh package converts to and from a number of file formats
including SoundDesigner I and II, AIFF, WAV, VOC, NeXt SUN.au and
Quicktime, and provides hi quality sample rate conversion, normalisation to
a user editable ceiling, bit-rate conversion, region extraction, several
stereo to mono conversions and optional dithering. All parameters on a
whole batch of differing files, from all 11 formats if required, can be set
up before running the conversion as a background process, and the speed of
the process is increased when run on a PowerPC or using a DigiDesign audio
card (ProTools II, Audio Media II) on a 680x0 machine.
For maximum clarity the input file hierarchy is copied to the output and a
detailed log file is produced.
The demo yields, when not using a digidesign card, 5 seconds of converted
audio in every output AIFF file. It requires a PowerPC, or a 680x0 mmac
with an FPU.
The demos of the complementary batch renamer NameIt, the text-list based
file mover MoveIt,and the utility that allows batch conversion using
SoundDesigner plug-ins JoinIt, are also included in this archive.

Subject: [*] Barrack 1.0.2 Installer
Meticulously crafted by Greg Lovette, Barrack is a game that is hard to
pigeonhole. It exhibits a precarious balance between action and strategy;
thinking and reflex. The feeling you get from playing Barrack is an
eccentric harmony between the automatic, mind-numbing pleasure of Tetris
and the kind of action found in Maelstrom. The result is that you'll be
left with sweat on your brow.
Barrack's goal is deceptively simple; there are a number of balls on the
play field that are bouncing like a neurotic on a sugar rush. Your job is
to use your shooter to isolate them. Sounds easy, right?
It isn't. First of all, if a ball breaks your shooter's particle beam
before it tears through the play field, your shooter overloads and
explodes in a cascade of fire and scrap metal.
The second problem is that these aren't any ordinary balls. They have
more personalities than Sybil, and none of them are particularly
friendly. We'll leave the particulars up to your imagination for now, but
suffice it to say that these aren't the kind of balls you get from bubble
gum machines.
Oh, did we forget to mention the land shark? Bosco is a rare breed of
shark capable of rearranging his molecular structure at will. This
enables him to travel at quite a clip through otherwise solid substances.
If you don't pay attention while he closes in on your shooter, you may
end up being fish-bait. He's tenacious, voracious, and about every other
-acious you can think of, all rolled into one lean, mean,
shooter-munchin' machine.
Barrack features stunning artwork, intense action, vibrant 8-channel
stereo sound effects, and the addictiveness that comes standard in an
Ambrosia game.
Price: $15.00
Requires: 256 Color Screen, 13" or Greater; 040 or PowerPC recommended

Subject: [*] Barrack 1.0.2 Update
Ambrosia Software, Inc. has just released a Barrack 1.0.2 Updater. This
updater only works if you already have an earlier version of Barrack. If
you do not already have Barrack, you need to download the complete
Barrack 1.0.2 package.
This updater brings Barrack up to Barrack 1.0.2, the latest version which
contains a number of bug fixes and adds a few features. It also marks the
beginning of the official Barrack High Score Contest! All of the files
in the Barrack 1.0.2 Update should be extracted into your existing
Barrack folder to properly upgrade Barrack to version 1.0.2.
The following is a list of the bugs that were fixed in Barrack 1.0.2:
-- Fixed various crashing bugs specifically related to enclosing
small areas
-- Stereo sounds now play at consistent volume levels under all
circumstances
-- Bonus countdown now faster

Subject: [*] Beckman Convert 1.0; display and conversion of Beckman scan files
Beckman Convert is a utility which converts scan files from Beckman
DU-650 spectrophotometers into ASCII text which is usable in math and
graphing programs. In addition, Beckman Convert can display spectra
and perform simple math operations on them including addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division before conversion. This may
prove useful to subtract a background from a given spectrum if it is
not possible to do so using the blank utility of the instrument or to
obtain a qualitative (or quantitative) feel for the intersection of
two spectra.
In addition, you can print spectra or copy them to the clipboard in
order to use them in other programs.
Beckman Convert is shareware, please see the documentation for more
details. I am the author and can be reached at

Subject: [*] Calendar - a spreadsheet like calendar for FMP3
Here's a sample to give you an idea how to build a calendar within
=46ileMaker Pro 3.0 - or how to build spreadsheet tables. It's more a
learning example than a well designed managment tool.
The database "Calendar" contains two layouts:
1) Layout one is a view by week of the year:
It takes 6 portals and masks days of previous and consecutive months by
special calculated field
2) Layout two is a view by day of week:
It holds 7 portals for every day. There's some nice/nasty workaround in
order not to display the days of the previous month. I figured out another
solution that takes the days of the first week as single, related fields
and only the other days within portals ...
.... but then I could not demonstrate the usage of many-to-many links:
Example: the tuesdays of May '96 use the relation "Tue0596". The 30. April
1996 has the related trigger "Tue0496Tue0596" - it matches both the
April and May's tuesdays.
The database "Dates" holds the matching records as single days.
It contains a simple script to create 90 more days.
Date formats may be shown matching to your local system format.
You may download the most recent files "Calendar" from the same site as my F=

engines interfaces...
I just wanted to type the stuff in and get results, no drop-down menus

applescript applets. You need Netscape and applescript (of course).
This is "home page ware" (much better than eucalyptus vapor ware!) you
have to visit my home page and I'll let you download the "registered"

* You can edit the apple script.
* Every time you use it, it won't open my page also.
The "registered" version is at http://www.tssphoto.com/search/,
My actual home page is at http://www.xmission.com/~tedebair/

Subject: [*] MS Word 4E Patch
-- New in this version: added a patch for MS Word 4.0A and a little
note on troubleshooting in the Read Me files.
This archive contains three applications which patch Microsoft Word 4.0,
4.0A, and 4.0D (US versions only) to 4.0E, respectively.
The only difference between MS Word 4.0E and the other 4.0 versions lies
in how they behave on 68040 Macintoshes. The 68040 processor has a
processor cache (not to be confused with the disk cache) which, when
enabled, speeds up things considerably; however, some older
applications, like Word 4.0, cannot run when this cache is enabled. Word
version 4.0E runs when the processor cache is enabled, so it can be used
effectively on 68040 Macs, such as the LC (Performa) 475 or the Quadra
family.

Subject: [*] Polybrid 1.0.9
Polybrid is a game with falling blocks. The objective is to stay in the game by
removing blocks. It is a hybrid game of Polytris and Poly-RC. It uses Polytris
blocks and blocks can be removed as they were in Poly-RC. Polyomino blocks
with 1 to 4 squares drop from the top and stop when they hit other blocks
or bottom.
The squares can be removed by arranging them in sequences of 3 or more of the
same color horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

Subject: [*] QuickTime MIDI Player 1.5
What's new in 1.5?
Lots. Everything works. 68K OMS support works much better now. Various
and sundry new features make life easier. Totally new documentation is
much clearer and easier to understand.
What is it?
QuickTime MIDI Player is an application which will allow you to play
MIDI data through your Macintosh speakers using QuickTime 2.0 or later
and either the Apple MIDI Manager (included) or the Open Music System.
QuickTime MIDI Player allows you to set up the way that the QuickTime
Musical Instruments will sound on your Macintosh. It also provides an
interface to the QuickTime Musical Instruments for applications which
can't access them directly. Its main use is to play back music using any
sequencer program. Now you don't need to invest hundreds of dollars in
a synthesizer or sound module to get your Mac to play your music!
This shareware version is fully functional, but I ask that people who
use it send in a registration fee of $15.00, or whatever they think is
appropriate.
Feel free to include it on the Info-Mac CD.

Subject: [*] Smooth Windows 1.1 (translucent window dragging)
Smooth Windows 1.1 (shareware $10) is the first update to my translucent
window dragging extension. Version 1.0 was called Smooth Move, but the
name has been changed due to a name collision with a ZiffNet utility.
Version 1.1 includes a number of improvements, most notably:
- Support for 680x0 Macs. I still recommend a PowerMac for best speed.
- User-customizable keyboard modifiers.
- Balloon Help in the control panel.
- Fixes a bug where translucent dragging inadvertently was disabled on
24-bit color displays.
- Better support for non-rectangular windows.
- No crash when dragging Aaron floating windows.
Since releasing this update I've learned that Smooth Windows conflicts
with Now Tabs (part of Now Utilities 6.0). I'm working with Now Software
to find out how to resolve this conflict in the best way.
Another limitation is that Smooth Windows currently doesn't support
multiple monitors.

are a few to whet your appetite: 8 and 16-bit sounds, mono and stereo,
sample rates up to 65 khz, easy conversion between mono and stereo, dynamic
pan (makes the sound shift smoothly between speakers), pitch bend, reverb
(two different types), echo, flange, chorus, records directly to disk, AIFF
and AIFF-C support, opens QuickTime movie soundtracks, imports windoze .wav
and sun .au files (QuickTime 2.1 required), reads audio data directly off a
CD (QuickTime 1.6 or later required), extracts 'snd ' resources from any
file or application, saves 'snd ' resources to any file or application, and
many, many more! Download today! Shareware fee is good for all versions
2.x. Anyone registered for an earlier version is automatically registered
for this one. Unlike other sound apps, only System 7 is required to run
SndSampler. A very few features (see above) may require QuickTime 2.0 or

Hope it proves as useful to other Photoshop users as it
has to me.

Meticulously crafted by Greg Lovette, Barrack is a game that is hard to
pigeonhole. It exhibits a precarious balance between action and strategy;
thinking and reflex.

Beckman Convert is a utility which converts scan files from Beckman

subtraction, multiplication and division before conversion. This may
prove useful to subtract a background from a given spectrum if it is

AQs:

engines interfaces...
I just wanted to type the stuff in and get results, no drop-down menus
or anything like that, just type and go! So here they are, plan and simple
applescript applets. You need Netscape and applescript (of course).
This is "home page ware" (much better than eucalyptus vapor ware!) you
have to visit my home page and I'll let you download the "registered"
version. The only differences are:

Word
version 4.0E runs when the processor cache is enabled, so it can be used
effectively on 68040 Macs, such as the LC (Performa) 475 or the Quadra
family.

RECENT CHANGES -- Tex-Edit Plus is now PowerPC native (fat)!
DRAG & DROP -- Apple's Drag Manager is supported. Give it a try! Drag &
Drop requires System 7.5+ or System 7.x with the Macintosh Drag and Drop
extension.
SPEECH -- Apple's Speech Manager (PlainTalk) is supported. If you wish to
use Tex-Edit's speech facilities, you will need to get a copy of the Speech
Manager (Apple ftp site).
Tex-Edit Plus is a styled text editor that is especially adept at formatting
text for transfer to or from a BBS. It is fast, efficient and requires
little memory. Tex-Edit Plus requires System 7 or better and is 32 bit
clean, 68040 cache compatible, color compatible, virtual memory compatible,
big screen compatible, required Apple event aware and stationery aware. It
runs native on both the PowerMac and the 680x0 Mac. It recognizes extended
keyboard keys. Keep a copy in your Apple menu and an alias on the desktop
for drag-and-drop operations.
There are many more features. Please notify me (TomBB) if you find any bugs
or have suggestions for improvements. Tex-Edit Plus is ShareWare ($10) and
the source code is available to registered users. (See the enclosed
documentation or the 'About...' dialog box.)

Subject: [*] WWWStat4Mac 1.2.1
WWWStat4Mac is a simple application designed to process the log files from
WWWServers.
It will process log files from any application that outputs log files in
the 'common log format'. This includes UNIX or PC web servers. So if you
have a UNIX or PC web server you might be able to process the log files on
your Mac
System Requirements.
WWWStat4Mac requires system 7.0 or later. It would also be an advantage to
have Mac TCP v1.1.1 (or later ) and Internet Config v1.1 (or later)
installed to take advantage of some features.
You can download the latest version and also find more information about
WWWStat4Mac at the following URLs:
http://sodium.ch.man.ac.uk/pages/wwwstat4mac.html
You can see the kind of output produced by looking at my server statistics at
http://sodium.ch.man.ac.uk/statistics.html
WWWStat4Mac is distributed as shareware ($10) and is a FAT-Binary which
will run on either 68K or PPC Macs.
