Subject: [*] Barrack 1.0.1

Meticulously crafted by Greg Lovette, Barrack is a game that is hard to
pigeonhole. It exhibits a precarious balance between action and strategy;
thinking and reflex. The feeling you get from playing Barrack is an
eccentric harmony between the automatic, mind-numbing pleasure of Tetris
and the kind of action found in Maelstrom. The result is that you'll be
left with sweat on your brow.

Barrack's goal is deceptively simple; there are a number of balls on the
play field that are bouncing like a neurotic on a sugar rush. Your job is
to use your shooter to isolate them. Sounds easy, right?

It isn't. First of all, if a ball breaks your shooter's particle beam
before it tears through the play field, your shooter overloads and
explodes in a cascade of fire and scrap metal.

The second problem is that these aren't any ordinary balls. They have
more personalities than Sybil, and none of them are particularly
friendly. We'll leave the particulars up to your imagination for now, but
suffice it to say that these aren't the kind of balls you get from bubble
gum machines.

Oh, did we forget to mention the land shark? Bosco is a rare breed of
shark capable of rearranging his molecular structure at will. This
enables him to travel at quite a clip through otherwise solid substances.
If you don't pay attention while he closes in on your shooter, you may
end up being fish-bait. He's tenacious, voracious, and about every other
-acious you can think of, all rolled into one lean, mean,
shooter-munchin' machine.

Barrack features stunning artwork, intense action, vibrant 8-channel
stereo sound effects, and the addictiveness that comes standard in an
Ambrosia game.

Price: $15.00
Requires: 256 Color Screen, 13" or Greater; 040 or PowerPC recommended

Subject: [*] Barrack 1.0.1 Update

Ambrosia Software, Inc. has just released a Barrack 1.0.1 Updater. This
updater only works if you already have an earlier version of Barrack. If
you do not already have Barrack, you need to download the complete
Barrack 1.0.1 package.

This updater brings Barrack up to Barrack 1.0.1, the latest version which
contains a number of bug fixes and adds a few features. It also marks the
beginning of the official Barrack High Score Contest! All of the files
in the Barrack 1.0.1 Update should be extracted into your existing
Barrack folder to properly upgrade Barrack to version 1.0.1.

The following is a list of the bugs that were fixed in Barrack 1.0.1:

-- Upgrade to Sound_Tool v1.1.3 brings significant speed increases
-- High score contest implemented
-- Scoring tweaks in upper levels
-- Bosco is no longer harmful while in "death spin"
-- Bosco death bonus points are worth 10x while on "I keel you"
rampages
-- Bosco will not return until next level after death
-- Fixed bug where sometimes greater than 100% would be tallied
yielding huge overachiever bonuses
-- Fixed bug where glass balls would sometimes get stuck together,
repeatedly shattering
-- Fixed bug where slicing apart extremely thin columns would
sometimes cause freezes
-- Fixed bug where isolating nuke balls during birth would cause
them to just stop and flash
-- Fixed bug where high scores would sometimes appear garbled
-- Fixed sound/music volume adjustment problems and added
sound/music toggle menu items
-- FAQ updates

Subject: [*] BBWindow 1.2.3

BBWindow is a simple utility which makes your screen black
and launch an application you specified. It covers whole the
screen area with black color, watches the launched application
and attempts to keep the application in front-most.

BBWindow was made to satisfy a following demand of mine:
When I played Spaceship Warlock with my 16$B

Version 3.0 includes:
o Over 125 pre-entered recipes!
o Completely New Graphical Layout
o Easy conversion menu for easy calculations!
o Expanded Icons!
o Expanded Menu Buttons!
o Expanded Functions!
o ....and more!

The high quality graphics contained in this software package are simply
better than any other recipe program available for the Macintosh.

Have you ever wanted to find a particular recipe, but didn't want to sift
through pages and pages from your favorite cookbook? Have you ever
wanted to search all your recipes for a certain ingredient? Have you
ever wanted to give a particular recipe to a friend, without having to go
through the hassle of jotting down the thing word for word? Now you can.
And Computer Cuisine is the tool that will make it happen.

What is Computer Cuisine?

Computer Cuisine is a Macintosh file for use with FileMaker Pro, by
Claris Corporation. This template will allow you to conveniently view,
print, sort, file, organize and save your cooking recipes. It's features
include a well designed layout that makes adding, viewing, sorting,
finding and printing a snap. In addition to the simple layout, Computer
Cuisine allows you to add an infinite number of your own recipes to the
existing ones. This will allow your recipe database to grow and grow!

Subject: [*] ConvertMachine1.0.1v3J-Japanese version

This is the Japanese version of the ConvertMachine sound conversion utility.

ConvertMachine is a powerful sound file conversion program. Any
(most) audio files dropped onto the application are converted to
AIFF, AU or WAVE format in either mono or stereo, with any of a
number of compressions and arbitrary sampling rates. It is ideal to
convert audio files to formats commonly used on the web.

It allows easy access to Audio CD tracks and QuickTime Movie audio
tracks.

It will interface seemlessly with SoundMachine.

It requires QuickTime 2.1 and Sound Manager 3.1 or better. I have
easy links for you to upgrade to this Apple software if you need.

Subject: [*] Escape Velocity

Check your calendar: It's 2246, and the galaxy just isn't what it used to
be. Spacefaring pirates roam free, civil war rages, and simple traders
cheat death to make a living. Welcome to life in the 23rd century!

Ambrosia Software's Escape Velocity puts you smack-dab in the middle of
that booming galaxy. As the captain of a shiny new spacecraft, you make
your fortune and build your empire. If that sounds like a walk in the
park, you're in for a surprise - dangers abound! Your lowly shuttle
craft will need more than a little luck to make a profit... and survive.

Lovingly hand-crafted by programmer Matt Burch, Escape Velocity offers a
rich and open-ended environment that evolves as you play. Over a hundred
worlds occupy the galaxy, each with its own technology, alliances, and
commodities. As you earn credits and gain fame, Confederation peace
keepers and Rebel patriots struggle for power, leaving you in the middle.

Escape Velocity spans a number of genres, combining elements of classic
"trading" games, arcade space shoot-outs, and strategy simulations.
Whether you choose to build a trading empire, aid the Rebellion in a
civil war, or strike out on your own as a ruthless pirate, Escape
Velocity provides a multitude of options for the game connoisseur. This
open-ended gameplay allows each player to chart their own course as they
play; there's no "right" way to play Escape Velocity, as long as you have
fun!

Numerous sub-plots fill Escape Velocity's world; your choices affect the
story's development, guaranteeing that each game will be different from
the last. You'll have the opportunity to infiltrate hostile military
bases, ferry emergency supplies to distant star systems, rescue
passengers from stranded cruise ships, stop alien invaders, and more. In
addition, Escape Velocity sports an open game engine. Future scenario
designers will be able to create their own worlds for other players to
explore...

Escape Velocity runs on any Mac with a 640x480 color monitor and 5.8
megabytes of free RAM. Optimized for the PowerMac, it's lickety-split
smooth on Apple's latest iron. And of course, Escape Velocity has the
dazzling 3D rendered graphics, full stereo sound, and all the polish that
you'd expect of an Ambrosia game.

Price: $20.00

Subject: [*] Finder Windows 1.1.2

Have you ever wished that the Finder had a simple "Window" menu like
many other applications? Finder Windows 1.1 is a control panel that adds a
"Window" menu to the Finder. You can now see a list of all the Finder's
open windows, choose among them, stack them, and arrange them.

Finder Windows requires System 7 or higher.

Finder Windows 1.1.2 fixes incompatibilities with Now Utilities and
several other extensions and also fixes an "unimplemented trap" bug that
happened at startup on some machines. Thanks to Erin Dalzell, Jim Isaac,
Jim Richardson, and Bradley Yi for helpful bug reports. Finder Windows
1.1.2, like Finder Windows 1.1, is also compatible with Glidel 2.9 (thanks
Gilles Berkovitch).

To be compatible with other extensions and control panels that add
command-keys to the Finder, the control panel allows you to change the
command-key equivalents of stacking and arranging.

memory.

MandelBrain has no warranty and disclaimer of liability, including a
disclaimer of any liability for personal injury or death.

MandelBrain is friendly and easy to use. It has most basic Macintosh
features that you expect (multiple resizable/zoomable windows,
new/open/save/revert, autoscrolling, stationery documents, etc.). Plus it
calculates in the background, and has reasonable performance. It also does
color table animation, even on monitors using thousands or millions of
colors.

Subject: [*] Marathon-Phile Juggler 2.0b5

This is the latest version of my program, Marathon-Phile Juggler.

*NEW FEATURES*
Version 2.0 introduces a completely new drag-n-drop interface that allows
users to drag files and sets to and from the Finder. You can now also add
comments to your files and sets.

*What is it?*
Marathon-Phile Juggler is a program designed to manage your Marathon files.
I wrote it because I was not satisfied with any of the current file
managers. One unique feature is that you have the ability to save your sets
as double-clickable icons. Another is a feature that tells Marathon where
to look for its resources-no longer will you have make copies of your files
for each patch or combination of patches you want to apply.

Subject: [*] Matrix Maker 2.7

This StuffIt binhexed file contains the new version of "Matrix maker", a
Macintosh application designed for the easy creation and formatting of
twelve-tone matrices (12 x 12 arrays) used in the composition and/or
analysis of twelve-tone music. It will also allow the creation and
formatting of 7 x 7, 6 x 6, and 5 x 5 matrices. This application is
designed for use with Microsoft Word for the Macintosh. The preferred MSW
version is v 6.0.1, and this package contains one AppleScript application
for the automatic formatting with MSW 6.x of the data produced by the
Matrix maker program, the "Matrix maker 2.7 script", which automates the
entire process by opening the "Matrix maker 2.7 (fat)" application and then
successively performing the formatting steps without the necessity for any
user intervention other than entering the matrix specifications, unless the
user requests to be prompted each time a matrix has been completely
formatted (this is an optional feature). The package also includes
stationery files that can be used with Microsoft Word 5.1 in the event that
MSW 6.x is not available; in this case, the formatting must be done
manually, but the process is quite simple. The principal difference between
v 2.7 and earlier versions is that v 2.7 allows the user to create any
number of matrices without exiting and re-initializing the application;
this is particularly advantageous if the program is being used in a
networked environment. Several preliminary steps required by earlier
versions have also been eliminated.

If you have neither Word 5.1 nor Word 6.x, you may still be able to use the
"Matrix maker 2.7 (fat)" application in stand-alone mode with manual
formatting, as long as your word-processing application allows
text-to-table conversions. Check your word-processor's manual to determine
whether or not this will be possible.

This application is freeware and may be included on CD-ROM releases.

Subject: [*] ScreenDaemon 1.2

What is ScreenDaemon?

ScreenDaemon is a nice, freeware screen saver for the Macintosh. It relies
on gamma fading to dim the screen. ScreenDaemon takes up minimal system
resources, and requires very little processing time. If you run a server or
some other application that requires the full attention of your computer,
ScreenDaemon is ideal.

What's new in 1.2?

The 'appe' portion of ScreenDaemon (which is the only part that really
matters for our purposes) is now PowerMac native as well as 68K native.
Also, we're now using the CodeWarrior development environment.

Also...

If you have an older Mac with a black-and-white screen, you should check
out Basic Black. It should be available from the source where you found
ScreenDaemon. Basic Black also runs perfectly well on the newest PowerMacs,
so if you want *some* visual feedback from your computer while keeping your
screen free from burn-in, you might want to check it out.

Subject: [*] ShrinkWrap 2.0.1 Release

*** Runner-up Best Utility in 1995 MacUser Shareware Awards ***
*** 1995 Usenet Macintosh Programming Awards Finalist ***
*** BMUG Choice Product for Fall 1995 ***

ShrinkWrap is a utility made to manipulate all types of disks and disk
images on the Macintosh. It incorporates the functionality of Apple's
DiskCopy and MountImage into one easy to use application, then improves on
these products by adding on the fly compression/decompression with the
StuffIt Engine, implementing extensive drag and drop and AppleScript
support, and supporting almost all known image file formats of all sizes,
including its new self-mounting image files.

Using ShrinkWrap, you can create disk images by simply dragging and
dropping your drive icons onto the ShrinkWrap icon. To mount image files on
the desktop, just drag and drop the image files onto the ShrinkWrap icon. A
familiar application front end is available for those who don't always
prefer drag and drop functionality. If you have the StuffIt Engine
installed (which is now distributed as shareware with Aladdin's DropStuff),
ShrinkWrap will automatically compress, decompress or encrypt the image
files as they're created, mounted, copied or converted according to the
options you set in preferences.

ShrinkWrap can still be freely distributed via the Internet, local bulletin
board systems (BBS), commercial on-line services, user groups and between
friends. There is no licensing fee as long as ShrinkWrap is used for
educational or non-profit use. After a 90 day evaluation period, however,
commercial organizations must now pay shareware fees ($20) or purchase a
site license for all copies of ShrinkWrap that they continue to use.
Shareware registration and site license applications can be easily
processed through Kagi Shareware using the Register application that has
been provided.

Zoom Lens is a small application that magnifies the portion of the screen
under the mouse cursor. The original version of the program was a
desk accessory, but as desk accessories are less powerful than regular
applications and can be awkward to use, I've expanded it into a full
application program for use in the background under MultiFinder or
System 7.

I've received letters from people who've found a lot of uses for this
little program, ranging from magnifying displays in drawing programs
for extra precision, to enlarging small text to aid the vision-
impaired, to just playing around. Hopefully, this new version will
be even more useful to an even larger group of people.

Includes the ability to change the magnification factor, control when
the zoom window is updated, copy the magnified image to the clipboard,
and see mouse coordinates and RGB color values of pixels under the
cursor.
