Addiction Manager 1.0
Addiction Manager is a program for helping people manage addiction to
computer games and other stuff (like the internet). It creates aliases to
programs just like the Finder does. However, with Addiction Manager's
aliases, you can restrict access to your programs.
Version 1.0 is the latest release of Addiction Manager and is a major
update. Here is a list of some of the new features:
- The ability to edit Addiction Manager aliases.
- Using the icons of the original file for the alias.
- Password protection of aliases.
- The ability to make the original file invisible from within
Addiction Manager.
- Addiction Manager can speak your restriction messages aloud if you
have the Speech Manager installed.
- "Weekday" and "Weekend" options for ease of alias creation.
- A read-out of current restrictions for ease of alias creation.
- Balloon help
Addiction Manager is now shareware (US$10). It is fully functional and
is not crippled in any way.
Addiction Manager requires System 7. It is 68000-based code. While it
isn't required, to use Addiction Manager's speech capabilities, you must
have the Speech Manager installed (preferably the most recent version of
PlainTalk).

Subject: [*] ColorSieve 1.1
ColorSieve is a utility that will display the color information for any
pixel on the screen. There have been many utilities in the past that
perform this function. ColorSieve combines the best of each into a
single, compact package. If you are a Photoshop user; a C, Pascal, or
HTML programmer; you will find ColorSieve and invaluable tool.
ColorSieve supports displaying color information in RGB, HSL, HSV, and
CMY color models. The information can be shown as a short number
(0-65535), byte number (0-255), or a percentage. For programmers,
ColorSieve supports hexadecimal format as well. Once you have the color
information you want, it can be copied to the clipboard in a customizable
string. Once on the clipboard, you can paste it into your favorite text
or HTML editor.
Version 1.1 fixes some bugs, includes an easy to use preference dialog,
and adds support for displaying the mouse location and the depth of the
monitor on which the mouse is located.
ColorSieve requires System 7.1 or greater to run. The application is
'FAT', which means that it takes advantage of the speed increase for the
PowerPC machines while still running on the older 68K machines.
ColorSieve is Emailware. If you like it, drop me a line at
[email protected] and let me know! I'd really appreciate the feedback,
plus as an added bonus I'll include you on a mailing list to inform you
of future updates. Please see the README for distribution limits.

Subject: [*] TrueClock? 1.2 US (displays round clock, app)
What TrueClock? 1.2 does is displaying a movable resizable
round clock on the screen to display the time. An important
bonus is a special mode which when switched on will make the
clock always visible whatever is the current application
running. This is useful if you don't have a gigantic screen.
You can still move or resize it. It is an application, not a
system extension. It takes 15 K in disk space (decompressed)
and the ReadMe is 10 K. It needs 128K in memory to run (more
if you want to enlarge the clock beyond 600 by 800 pixels). As
an amateur i could not test it extensively on various system
and hardware configurations, although i believe it will run
fine on Macintoshes SE or later, under system 7 or later.
NOTE: system 7 is *required*.

Subject: [*] Unmute-it 0.2 Use speaker _and_ headphone
*Freeware*
Do you have this problem? I have a 7100AV, with the headphone jack
in the back. I also have a blaster with a CD input. Its nice to
be able to use the blaster for hi-fi sound output, but I also
like to use my blaster for music while I work.
The problem is that the Mac also tries to behave like a stereo,
in that it mutes the speaker when you plug a jack into the
headphone output. The good news is that this behavior on the Mac
is done in _software_. Instead of crawling around to the back of
the machine and unplugging the headphone jack, you can open the
sound control panel, and uncheck the "Mute" checkbox for the
Built-in sound output driver. Of course having to open the sound
control panel whenever you reboot is almost as much of a pain as
physically unplugging the jack.
Unmute-it is a simple application program which sets the mute
value "off" for the internal speaker, allowing sound to be
played through the internal speaker, even when the headphone
jack is in use. This package also includes an init version
by popular demand.
|:-)
Requires Sound Manager 3.0 or better.

Subject: [*] WindowMenu v1.1.1 -- lets you select windows directly
WindowMenu is a utility that exists to let you do one thing: jump
directly to a specific window in an application. Although I have a big
monitor, I often find myself going through all kinds of contortions to
get to a window I know is open but that is buried under a hundred
others. Applications with "Windows" menus help things somewhat, but
you still have to make the trip to the menu bar.
WindowMenu will pop up a menu of all open windows in the current
application and let you select one directly when you click anywhere
while holding down control keys that you choose. It also lets you
define a hotkey to cycle forward and backwards through all open
windows. I use it every day and I think if you give it a try, you may
too.
You can download WindowMenu and get more information at my
Macintosh shareware page on the Web at:
http://www.kagi.com/authors/marka
Version 1.1.1 (Feb 23rd 1996) fixes a crashing bug at startup if
the Extension is present but the Control Panel does not load for
whatever reason. It also lets you switch between windows with the same
name using the popup menu, and is the first version to be released
simultaniously in English and Japanese. It should replace all previous
versions.
WindowMenu is $10US shareware.

Hi!
I'm using a DeskWriter 560C with the DeskWriter 6.0 software. As far as I

Has anyone tried this?

The most promising response came from Jim Matthews (Dartmouth Software
Development, the source of Fetch). He alerted me to the one-way
synchronization AppleScript, BackupFolderToURL, included with Fetch 3.x (the
most reliable script version being included in Fetch 3.0.1b2).
By any chance, has anyone modified this script to provide for two-way
synchronization?
Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Subject: (q) v.34 modems and software
I am in the market for a new v.34 28.8 kilobit modem. When I flip
to the CommNet Zone section of The MacZone, I see there are a bunch of
different modems, ranging in price from 138.98 to 239.98. The cheapest one
is made by Performanz and is labled Fast Mac and looks very plain. No
bells or whistles. It says nothing about the software for faxing, only
that it includes a "fax" cable. The software is MacCom Center. Does
anyone use this modem and/or software? I would like your oppinion.
On the high side is the SupraFAXModem at 219.98. This is looks
like the ultimate modem. My question is, it is more than an average net
surfur on a limited budget needs? It looks like a great piece, and is
recommended by macuser, but that review was published a long time ago, and
things have changed. Is this package worth it?
Also from Supra is the SupraExpress modem. It says nothing about
the software included, and I am wondering if there is any included with it
at all. My reasoning is that at 189.98, $30.00 more than the modem alone,
is the Supra Simple Internet. It has a bunch of software included and
detailed instructions. I know a bunch already, so the only reason I would
buy that is to get the fax software. Does the modem alone come with it?
If it does, is this the mid range modem I am looking for? It is priced
good and is from a name brand, as where the FastMac isn't.
There is also a modem from Best Data priced at 158.98. It says it
has software, but doesn't say what kind it is, so I am a little skeptical.
Does anyone know of someone who has bought this modem? Could you tell me
about what it comes with?
The last one I have looked at is the Teleport Platinum. It comes
from an established company, and has good software in GlobalFax. Is this
the best one for my hard earned money?
Also, if there is any that I haven't covered, and that you
recommend, please tell me, for this will be the last one I buy until it
breaks. I also want it to last a long time.

Dear John:
Check the Mac TCP settings (you did write the original settings down
didn't you?)
or just call the ISP's tech suport to see if they are correct. I had a
similar problem

the settings are correct, take a snap shot of the open Mac TCP window

Hi. I've been using the above modem for about a year, with no end of
problems.
When it connects, everything is fine. However, when I try to get onto a new
service, I invariably find that the modem init strings do not work, and
determining a new one for this particular modem is like pulling teeth. No one

I am currently trying to find a string for use with Config PPP and Compuserve's
Web access mechanism, to no avail.
I'd be glad to share to the group any collected experience you've had with
this modem, and what strings to use. Some examples I have found successful:
Microphone vt220 terminal emulation: ATE1QV1&C1&D0&K0M1L1&Q5S36=7S46=2S0=0
MacLayers vt100 terminal emulation: ATE1QV1&C1&D0M1&Q5%C1S46=138S0

Subject: [Q] LaserWriter Bridge Poblem
I've had LaserWriter Bridge install for several months on our ethernet
with no problems, then all of a sudden, one day we started getting the
error message that LWB detected another copy running on the same
router. As far as I can determine, this is wrong. There are very few
Macs on the network (most are IBMs) and none of them have LWB
installed except one (and it's on a different router and was installed and
working fine with the other copy, I also shut the machine off and still got
the same message).
I've tried re-installing the software to no avail.....
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Could somebody tell me the URL of the software compan which
produces a commercial version of LWB?

Subject: [Q] serial ports dead?
I gave my dad my old 14.4 SupraFaxModem when I upgraded it and he
unsuccessfully tried to connect it to his SE/30 (also formerly mine). I
told him a little prematurely not to worry, but when he vistied with his
Mac, I also failed.
No comm program can see the modem, on either port (on my Mac, a Centris
650, it works fine). I tried everything (at least i think): tried different
serial cables that I know are OK, booted with extensions off, made sure
nothing was hogging the different ports I was trying, reset the PRAM,
booted from a external disk with a clean system, etc, etc, all to no avail.
So I declared his serial ports dead...however...
...and this is where i'm stumped, my dad claims he *can* print (thru the
printer port) to his old ImageWriter II. So I had him connect the modem to
the printer port, configure everything properly yet his comm software still
can't see the modem.
Assuming my dad is not hallucinating, what could be going on? Did I
overlook anything obvious or not so obvious? Could it be the SE/30 doesn't
know what to do with a Hardware Handshake cable? Any help would be much
appreciated.
Merci d'avance,
Vincent.

Thanks to those who responded suggesting GetMyAddress, a program available
in the info-mac archives.
Unfortunately, GetMyAddress does NOT seem to work any better than
TattleTech on the PowerWave. I.E. it returns "not available" for the
physical ethernet address.
However, I DID figure out a SOLUTION to the problem that was pretty simple.
First, I 'borrowed' the IP number of another machine that was currently
turned off. I configured the TCP/IP panel on the PowerWave with this IP
number.
Next, I logged into one of our unix machines and used the 'arp' (address
resolution protocal) to query the network for the physical address of the
machine with that IP number. Worked like a charm.
The next question is: Is there a mac port of 'arp' available? What about
a corresponding 'aarp' (appletalk address resolution protocal) that could
possibly find the physical address of an appletalk node based on appletalk
name?

Hmmm. Silly goose that I am, I thought I understood this stuff.
I've been telling Eudora to not encode anything I attach to a note. I
send stuff to all manner of folk who use all manner of operating systems,
so I prefer to encode myself (generally either UUE or HQX) before I
attach a document.
I was real proud of myself. I thought that worked fine. At least I got no
gripes until today. I sent a colleague (among the illiterati to be sure)
an HQX'd Excel spreadsheet. She came back complaining that it was a text
file containing garbage. She doesn't know from HQX.
Say what? I thought Eudora automagically converted such stuff. But, sure
nuff, I sent the HQX file to myself (Why didn't I think of *that* before)
and it came into my Eudora Attachments folder as an "Edit II" (text) file
with only an HQX suffix to identify it. Oops.
Then I set Eudora to binhex-4 all attachments, and attached the nekkid
XL4 file. Which Eudora faithfully encoded and faithfully decoded into
my attachments folder upon receipt. Oh naughtyword!
I obviously don't understand what is going on here. Eudora only decodes
HQX files that it encoded? Not those that were encoded beforehand? Why?

I got this address from the Internet Starter Kit and I am turning to you in
desperation. I use a Performa 6300CD and have just gone on the internet
using a local server, WAZOO. I am going through WAZOO because the
commercial services are all ong distance calls.
My server absolutely refuses to help. Twice he told me he knows nothing
about MACs, after giving me incorrect information and he refuses to answer
my email quieries.
So here is my problem. I am using MacTCP and MacPPP to access my server and
I am using Eudora lite for my email. When I try to log into Eudora there is
a 50/50 chance that I will break the modem connection before getting in and
then another 50/50 chance that when I go to send a message the connection
will fail. The message I get is that the "server not responding" and then a
five digit number preceded by a negative sign, the number changes with each
disconnect. The rest of the message is "The connection came up halfway and
then failed. (37.95)"
I do make a connection with my server. I am also having a similar problem
with Netscape.
I have checked and rechecked the confirgurations on both Eudora and MacTCP
and MacPPP and I can't see any problem. I have also "deInstalled" and
reinstalled more time than I would like to remeber.
As I said I am using the software that came with the second edition of
Internet Starter Kit: MacTCP 2.0.4; MacPPP 2.0.1 and Eudora 1.4.3 anything
that you can do to help me will be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Help with choosing new Mac
Hello Everyone,
Recently I posted a message on INFO-MAC and was amazed at the number of helpful
people who took the time to help with my problem. Hidden away here in the last
best place, it is too easy to become cynical about the *outside*.
My previous question had to do with not being able to access the net because
Netscape bombed on my Classic. I found out that Netscape does not work on any
68000 Mac. I am having the same trouble with Mosaic and MacWeb (the newer
versions). I haven't tried any of the old versions of these applications.
However, I am at the point where I think I need a new Mac. But when I started
looking at the selections available I was overwhelmed. Back when I bought my
Classic it was easy. The Macintosh Bible had one page that compared the pros
and
cons of the ten or so Macs that were available. Now there are so many Macs that
I don't know where to begin. I have limited funds, so I don't want to make a
mistake. Is there anywhere I can find the information on, and comparisons of
the
models being produced today? I realize that choosing a computer has to be a
personal choice, but I have some general questions:
1. What is a Performa and how does it differ from a regular Mac (or does it.)
2. I have read some things in Info-Mac about backward and forward compatibility
of operating systems in Macs. It sounds like System 7.5 has a lot of
conflicts.
I am pleased with 7.1 on my Classic and would like to run this OS. What
machines
will run it, and which ones won't?
3. What about Power Macs. What are the advantages and disadvantages of them.
Will my programs run on them?
4. My first priority in purchasing a new computer is that it not become
obsolete
several years down the road like my Classic apparently has.
5. Is it a good idea to buy a Mac that can run DOS and Windows since the news
seems to have new information everyday about the problems at Apple?
6. My primary uses for a computer are word processing, records and grading for
my teaching, and e-mail. I am thinking about getting a Power Macintosh 7200
with
a 75 MHz 601 microprocessor. Will this run with 7.1 OS, and will it run any new
OS to come, like copland? Can it be upgraded to run DOS and Windows? Does this
sound like a good choice?
I realize I am asking a lot here, but I would appreciate any help and expertise
you are willing to share with a computer novice.
Thanks,
Bob Muth

Subject: Mac 8500/Hewlett Packard 5MP/Ethertalk Question
Mac 8500/Hewlett Packard 5MP/Ethertalk Question
Are there any ethernet experts out there that can provide a few
tips
about connecting my 8500 to a Hewlett Packard 5MP laser printer?
First, I guess I would like to know if it is worth the trouble. I
have 7mb of ram in the printer and often print large files.
Note that Ethetalk is built into the 8500, but not the HP5MP.
Would the higher speed of ethertalk over Appletalk make a
difference
in total printing time? (which, of course, includes a bit of data
munching in the Mac and then transmitting the file)
Would it free up my computer faster from the jerkiness that
currently exists while the file is being prepared to print and then
transmitted to the printer using Appletalk?
If these items are true, what kind of ethertalk adapter/module
do I
need for the HP printer? Do I need anything special (adapter/module)
to interface with the 8500?
How about cabling?
Is all the ethertalk port driver software in my system already,
or
do I have buy yet more stuff?
It seems that if I do this, I will then have an open serial
port on
the Mac that I could use for, well, whatever. Maybe hook up a second
old modem and use it to dial the phone through Now Contact or
something like that (so as not to mess with my regular modem
connection used for the net--different phone line, too).
At least having an empty port would be more convenient for
hooking
up the QuickTake camera. Or for one of those interesting Fargo photo
size printers that need a plain serial connection. Any comments on
these ideas?
In addition, Apple is releasing a new color printer, the
Stylewriter
2500, to replace the 2400 in mid-march. They are also releasing an
optional ethertalk module for it (FYI-also an Appletalk module). Since
ethertalk will be available for this unit, I expect much better color
printing speeds (would sell my pokey HP 855C) and could network all
three. Comments?
Thanks in advance for taking the trouble to answer.

Hi,
My name is Tony Kirk. I'm a long time Mac user but new to the net. I
teach at a small, private, church-related university. They are even
newer to the net, so they are worried about improper use (their term) of
the net. In other words, they don't want anyone looking at any "dirty"
pictures. Therefore, we only have text based use of the net, www, etc.
That hurts those of us who know that there are legit. uses of graphics on
the net.
Anyway, I know that I can download files from the net. I've managed to
download some text files. When I download graphics files, they can't be
opened or looked at.
I'm using White Pine Mac 340 software to connect. I use a Kermit
protocol to download. How do I download graphics and then view them on
my Mac? Is there somewhere else I can go for information?
If you can help, I would sure appreciate it.

The simplest solution is to use a text editor. Forunately, the Eudora
Nicknames file (located in the Eudora Folder with all of your mailboxes) is
a simple TEXT file with a simple format:
AliasNicknameAddress. Multiple addresses for a single
nickname are separated by commas. For example, one line of my nicknames
file reads:
alias infomac [email protected]
Editing your two lists with any text editor will allow you to merge your
lists.

First, thanks to all of you who sent me suggestions on how to record music
from an audio CD! I passed them on to my friend who was able to finally do
what he wanted.
I have a problem that I've seen others mention but haven't seen a specific
solution that works. I am using a PowerMac 8500/120 running system 7.5.2
with Open Transport off. I am using Config PPP 2.2.0 to connect to the
Internet using a Hayes Accura 288 V.34 + Fax modem. I am able to connect
to the Interent with no problem but the Open button on Config PPP remains
active after connection which means the only way to end the Internet
connection is to shut off the modem. This is bad enough, but then I have
to restart my computer if I want to connect to the Internet again because
nothing happens when I hit the Open button the next time after completing a
session on the Internet. I've read about how people have solved this
problem by using WindowShade to close and open the Config PPP control panel
window which causes the Hard Close button to become active. This does not
work for me. Does anyone else know what could be causing the problem and
any suggestions on how to solve it?
Another problem I am having is with Fetch 3.0.1b2. I connect to the
Internet first through PPP and then I open Fetch and try to connect to a
site and Fetch tells the computer to dial the modem to connect even though
I'm already connected to the Internet. Does anyone know why this happens?
Is this possibly related to the problem above? This is frustrating. I am
able to get Fetch 2.1.2 to work exactly the way it should but can't get
anywhere with this latest version.
Thanks for listening and for any advice you may have. Please e-mail:

the Apple Ethernet interface (PPC 6100/60)? I tried to
find it at the tech library at the apple homepage but had no
success...
Thank you.

Subject: Q: Power 100 VRAM?
Hi. I recently purchased a PowerComputing Power 100 at a close-out. The
store selling the computer didn't have the manuals, although everything else
(including the reg card) came with the unit.
Anyway, I got a 17" monitor to hook up to the thing, and now I can't figure
out how to get it up to 1024x768. I suspect that I need more VRAM -- my
computations of numbers of colors vs. resolution suggest that it's only got
512K on the motherboard.
I know there must be a way to upgrade, but PowerComputing doesn't seem to be
answering my e-mail
Can anyone tell me:
(1) Where is the VRAM on the motherboard, what does it look like?
(2) I need at least 1 MB of VRAM. Can I just go to the store and ask for a
regular VRAM SIMM? Does it use the same VRAM as its close relative, the
PowerMac 8100/100?
Thanks!

I saw a posting about a qwk mail reader today, but I cannot find the
original poster, so I am writing to the list. I use Alice 1.44E It is a
great qwkmail reader and lets you have a bunch of BBS mailboxes and the
like. It also supports BlueWave and some other stuff. I have also figured
out how to write to addresses with more than 25 characters, which is a big
blessing to internet users! Whoever was asking about that, just e-mail me

- DocMaker (v4.x) will produce self-running documents. Pictures and
text can be used, but (as with SimpleText), there is not much other
formatting possible besides the typeface. Shareware.
- Style is a SimpleText replacement which works with Claris' XTND

them to produce SimpleText or SimpleText-ReadOnly docs. Can use

Subject: Resource Not Found (-192)
Hi-
Alright, here's the problem. I have a quicktime movie that I would
like to combine with a sound I made. The sound is a collection of other
sounds taking up 1.7 MB all toghether. When using Movie Maker to
combine the movie and the sound, I go in the system 7 sound file hoping
to see the resource named what I named it in Soundedit. Yet, the sound
is name "Number-1" and always gives me a Resource Not Found error
(-192) when I try to select it for the movie. Also, i figured that I
could use ResEdit to see if the resource was there or to rename the
resource or somthing, but I get the same message from ResEdit. I tried
opening any other file with ResEdit to see if it was just a problem with
that file or not. Yet, ResEdit couldn't open ANY file and gave me that
same message. So, everything else works fine except I can't make my
quicktime movie because it can't find the sound and I can't figure out
what the problem is with ResEdit because ResEdit can't find it either.
Yet, if I go into the system file with Movie Maker to look for another
sound to use, then all the sounds in the system file work fine and have
their original names and not the mysterious "Number-1" instead.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Attempts use anonymous ftp to this address result in "user anonymous

Is Excalibur 2.2 available? If so, how can it be obtained?

Running 7.5.1, the solution is (once you get to the Finder): change the
monitor cp from your default setting to something else, then back again.
For example, change from colors to greys, back to colors again. When you
restart, your startup screen should be fine.

Greetings!
Oh My! The response to my question about a add-on or simple

It describes setting up cgiemail. The first link downloads the file.
It
is the source code (tarred and gzipped). compile with "make" and
preferrably put it in the main cgi-bin directory, but it works just
fine
outside. http://mars.utm.edu/~davagatw/french/frencmail.html is proof
of this....
Once you're using the program, just set up your template file to
include
for the subject line, something like
Subject: **WEB** [required-subject]
and then anything posted from the web page will have a subject line
that
begins with **WEB**, a space, and then whatever the user typed into
the subject field (NAME="required-subject") on the form.

"Your best bet, *if your provider permits it*, is to go with a CGI

I recommend Matt Wright's latest version of formmail, which is
freeware,
comes with very easy-to-follow configuration instructions (even for a
complete non-programmer like me,) and can be gotten at
http://www.worldwidemart.com/scripts/ (he has lots of other very cool
freeware scripts there, by the way.)
The beauty about formmail is that it's very versatile. Not only can
you
control the subject line, but it will automatically accept any number
of
different fields, so it also works for fairly long, complex forms, and
you can use a hidden "redirect" line to automatically send the visitor
to
a page of your choice when s/he hits the submit button.
Your ISP will have to tell you how the system is set up to use CGIs; it
varies from system to system. On mine, you have to rename the ".pl"
perl
file ".cgi" and, as with all CGI scripts, set the mode to make it
publicly executable and readable (your ISP can help you with this too,
and so can I if you need the help.) Interlog users can run cgi from
their own public_html directories, but many others can't.

It has a hidden request -

I visited the site, looked at the source, and was amazed at how little
code there actually was. This one I shall try out shortly!
Thanks again for the tremendous willingness to help! For now, I'll go
with the aliases, and once I have figured out the CGIs, I'll venture

This package also includes an init version
by popular demand.

get to a window I know is open but that is buried under a hundred

Version 1.1.1 (Feb 23rd 1996) fixes a crashing bug at startup if
the Extension is present but the Control Panel does not load for
whatever reason. It also lets you switch between windows with the same
name using the popup menu, and is the first version to be released
simultaniously in English and Japanese. It should replace all previous
versions.
WindowMenu is $10US shareware.

Hi!
I'm using a DeskWriter 560C with the DeskWriter 6.0 software. As far as I
know this software is not PPC native (printing in color is rather slow with

Has anyone tried this?
Kind regards, Sven Luetkemeier.

Hi. I've been using the above modem for about a year, with no end of

When it connects, everything is fine. However, when I try to get onto a new
service, I invariably find that the modem init strings do not work, and
determining a new one for this particular modem is like pulling teeth. No one
in tech support for any service seems to have had experience with this
modem.
I am currently trying to find a string for use with Config PPP and Compuserve's

I'd be glad to share to the group any collected experience you've had with
this modem, and what strings to use. Some examples I have found successful:

MacLayers vt100 terminal emulation: ATE1QV1&C1&D0M1&Q5%C1S46=138S0

I've had LaserWriter Bridge install for several months on our ethernet

working fine with the other copy, I also shut the machine off and still got

I've tried re-installing the software to no avail.....
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Merci d'avance,
Vincent.

[details about option-clicking mactcp ethernet icon as well as
TattleTech not resulting in this info]

Why?

commercial services are all ong distance calls.
My server absolutely refuses to help. Twice he told me he knows nothing

my email quieries.

Subject: Mac Info
Hi,
My name is Tony Kirk.
Thanks.

The simplest solution is to use a text editor. Forunately, the Eudora
Nicknames file (located in the Eudora Folder with all of your mailboxes) is
a simple TEXT file with a simple format:
AliasNicknameAddress. Multiple addresses for a single
nickname are separated by commas. For example, one line of my nicknames
file reads:
alias infomac [email protected]
Editing your two lists with any text editor will allow you to merge your
lists.

That reminds me of a question of my own. Is there any way to bypass the
idiot-proof system software install I got w/ my 5200, i.e. get a regular

Does Apple think Performa users can't handle a "real" installer?

Hi All!!
I have a program called TypeStyler 2.03, I am using it with a Personal
LaserWriter LS. My problem is that I can't get my work to print where I
want it to print. If I try to print my work in the center of the page it
ends up about 2 inches off to the right. I phoned Broderbund who sell the
program, and they tell me the reason this happens is that TypeStyler was
written before the Personal LaserWriter LS came out, and that each
printer deals with things differently.
So my QUESTION is, is there away to add the Personal LaserWriter LS
resource to Typestyler? If indeed thats what needs doing!?

Subject: Problems with Config PPP 2.2.0

Hi. I recently purchased a PowerComputing Power 100 at a close-out. The

(1) Where is the VRAM on the motherboard, what does it look like?
(2) I need at least 1 MB of VRAM. Can I just go to the store and ask for a
regular VRAM SIMM? Does it use the same VRAM as its close relative, the
PowerMac 8100/100?
Thanks!

Running 7.5.1, the solution is (once you get to the Finder): change the
monitor cp from your default setting to something else, then back again.
For example, change from colors to greys, back to colors again. When you

It

fine

Once you're using the program, just set up your template file to

Subject: **WEB** [required-subject]
and then anything posted from the web page will have a subject line
that

I recommend Matt Wright's latest version of formmail, which is

comes with very easy-to-follow configuration instructions (even for a
complete non-programmer like me,) and can be gotten at
http://www.worldwidemart.com/scripts/ (he has lots of other very cool
freeware scripts there, by the way.)

I visited the site, looked at the source, and was amazed at how little
