Subject: [*] Balloon Popper

Balloon Popper makes a list of all the applications it finds
on a drive or in a folder, and if an applications has a Finder
balloon attached to it (via a 'hfdr' resource), it includes the
message from this balloon. The list can then either be viewed
from with Balloon Popper or saved as a text file.

This version is a first release. I would like to hear about bugs,
suggestions for improvement, and whether anyone finds it
useful. Documentation is included with and in the program.
This program is free to users.

Subject: [*] Midi Delay 2.0 -A real time midi effects processor

Midi Delay does many of the same things as a hardware digital delay
and more...The programs uses hardware digital delay terminology making
it very intuitive to use for most electronic musicians. In this Demo
version of Midi Delay the user gets five seconds of delay time, and ten
repeats (feedback) on the main delay and two multitap delay sections
that allows five seconds of delay time on each tap and the ability to
send the taps on different midi channels and/or to different midi
instruments. The multitap section can be fed to the main delay for
further processing and cool looping effects. Midi delay supports
Apple's Quicktime Musical Instruments v2.0 and higher as an output
source.
Requirements - Midi Delay requires a Mac II(xx) or greater running
System 7.0 and up with 5 megabytes of ram. A 14 inch monitor or larger
is recommended, but not required. A midi sound module and midi
controller are also required as well as a midi interface to connect the
controller/module to the computer. (midi interface, midi controller and
sound module may be the same device or in the form of computer software)
Midi Delay also requires Opcode's OMS v1.2.3 or higher or Apple's Midi
Manager v2.0.1 or higher. These software packages can be obtained from
the following places:
OMS v1.2.3 and v2.0.1 Download (FREE) from: WWW.OPCODE.COM on the OMS
homepage
Midi Manager 2.0.2 Download (FREE) from: FTP.SUPPORT.APPLE.COM in the
directory: /PUB/APPLE_SW_UPDATES/US/MACINTOSH/UNSUPPORTED/
Using OMS 2.0.1 with Midi Delay will produce the best results and
allow you to use all of Midi Delay's features with a minimum of effort.

Subject: [Q] Macintosh version of Leather Goddesses of Phobos anyone?

In my dim dark deprived youth, I owned an Amstrad PCW, and was the proud
owner of Leather Goddesses of Phobos for that platform. Fortunately I have
gone up considerably in the world, and I now am a Mac man. Unfortunately I
gave away my PCW version of LGofP when I sold my PCW so now I am without.

I have been in contact with Activision who publish the old Infocom titles,
but they have told me that the title is no longer available.

I am now desolated that I let my old copy go as I didn't think it would be
usable. Ron Hunsinger kindly wrote to me as
follows:

>>If you had held onto your old version, you might have been able to get it
to run by transplanting the data fork onto one of the other games. All
Infocom games came as two parts - the game itself, written to run on an
'ideal' machine, plus an interpreter to emulate that machine on the real
machine you have on your desk. The game part is machine independent -
exactly the same whether you have the Apple II or the Mac or the PC or
the Atari or whatever version. The interpreter part is (more or less)
game independent. (The original games ran on a virtual 128K machine with
no graphics. Later games needed up to 512K, plus graphics for maps and
drop caps and such, so the interpreter had to evolve. But you could still
emulate the 512K virtual game machine on a 48K Apple II.)
Subject: ascii samples ---> audio

I would like to listen to some ocean hydrophone data that was
sampled at 1000 Hz on my Mac. The data resides on a UNIX workstation,
and I'm wondering if there are any utilities out there that can
convert floating-point samples to some sort of audio file playable
on my MAC. On the UNIX end, I can deliver these samples to the MAC
in ascii, if that helps.

Subject: Performa 6220CD with 20 in monitor questions

I requested info getting a Performa 6220CD to give 32k color
and high resolution 1064 pix on a 20 inch monitor. Did anyone
have suggestions and working experiences with achieving this?
I didn't get any e-mail responses and may have missed the digest
response if any. Apple didn't have anything constructive to say
except that video enhancements makes DRAM cards which plug into
the microprocessor slot of the Performa and can run a apple
20 inch monitor at 32k color and 1064 resolution or millions of
colors at the lower 840 resolution. Don't hold me to the res
numbers, I left the info home. But what I want to do if find
out if anyone has succesfully gotten the cheeper Performas to
run high res monitors and at least at the 32k colors. I need
a machine that I can do design work on and video. Not at the
same time but a 14 or 15 monitor just won't make me want to
buy a machine. And don't tell me to buy the 7100 machine. I'm
on a budget so $3k is tops with monitor and color printer, and
yes I want to have all the video capability and CD rom capability
built into the 6220CD, which is why I am aiming at that machine.
I don't want to fool around piecing a 7100 together to get the
capability of the 6220CD, just want to run a 20 in monitor at high
resolution and thousands of colors. [email protected]

Subject: Serious Serial Port Problems

Hi,

Since a week, I own a Performa 5300 with an external modem. The connection
does not seem to work properly, although it does when I hook it up to
another mac. The 5300 sometimes repeats characters, and sometimes freezes
up. I tried to install SerialDMA 2.0.2, but although it seemed to decrease
the number of repeated characters, it did crash the computer on a
downloading a (short) file.

Does anybody know how to circumvent this problem, or if it's a known
problem that somebody is working on?

Thanks,

Could you please tell me where I could obtain a copy of this utility. I
would like to run a movie made with Movie Player, and my Mac
(Performa 400) can't run it. Any suggestions would be most
appreciatd. Thank you.
