ramBunctious 1.5 is a shareware RAM disk program for the Mac OS.

- You can have several RAM disks mounted simultaneously, limited only
by memory available.
- ramBunctious has a "write-through" option. When activated, everything
written to the RAM disk is saved to a (real) file. This means that
the next time you mount the RAM disk, all the contents are still
there. This helps protect against data loss in the event of a crash
or power failure.
- ramBunctious uses normal application memory. This means that when
you're done using a RAM disk, that memory is available for other
applications to use. In other words, you don't have to reboot to
reclaim the memory.
- Each RAM disk may be configured to be mounted automatically during
the computer's startup process.
- These options, and more, are fully user-configurable for each RAM
disk via a status/settings window. In addition to the settings, the

always frustrated by the lack of ability to move an object to line up
with another object without moving the second object.

Andrew:
About your second query, where Outlook Express wants to connect to
the Net even when you're just reading mail you've already collected.
This seems to be an Outlook Express 'feature'; I've heard about it
from Windows users, as well as Mac users.
As far as I can tell, the problem is that Outlook thinks it needs to
connect to hotmail when some part of the message isn't on your hard
disk. Maybe that part is just an ad banner, and isn't anything you
want to read, but OE sees an 'incomplete' message, and tries to
complete it for you.
You may need to explore a bit to figure out just how this is done,
but see if you can either set Outlook to download the entire email
(banners and all) to your hard disk, or persuade it to ignore things
like graphics. If you can do this, chances are it won't keep
insisting that you connect first.
As far as your query #1 goes, it should be quite simple to delete
large files (or files with large attachments) as long as they come to
your hotmail (or other web-based) mail account.
If your mail is on a POP3 server, it could depend on your ISP's
setup. If these people also allow you to see POP mail via a browser,
you may be able to get rid of stuff over a certain size. If they
don't, you could be out of luck.
No idea if any of this will really help, but I hope some of it does.

Tools/Accounts Click on Edit. Choose Options tab. Option there to set size
of files you are willing to download.

I really hate repeating it once more: Get Eudora 4.3 and forget
Outlook Express. Eudora 4.3 is free if you can live with a small
advertising window (or if you paid for an earlier version of Eudora
4.x).
In Eudora 4.3, you can instruct the application to just get some info
for messages over size xxx. Afterwards, you can decide to (a) get the
whole message, or (b) discard all and delete it from the server.

Before I answered your question, I quickly started up OE 5.0.2 and
could not find a setting. Maybe it's hidden somewhere deep down in
the preferences hierarchy?

If it helps, you can look into any POP mailbox using the ATDOT
script. If you have your own server, you can install it to allow this
feature to all your users; if you just want to check mail on your POP

utilities around, which I am not aware of.

Go to Versiontracker.com or Macupdate.com and download MailSiphon.
The latest version is 1.5.1. It is great program and easy to use. It
is what-ever-where instead of share-ware.

Disable AIM Menu (Extensions) and ?AIM Promo and ?Launch AIM? (Startup
Items).
Yes, I've disabled those as well. I guess I'll never use AOL -- in fact
we don't even have AOL!

AIM didn't last more than one day on my computer either. Lots of Type 3
crashes. And I find that it is often app's that include an extension that
adds something to the menu bar that cause these types of crashes.
Anyhow, just do a Find File search for "AIM". From what I remember there
is an AIM extension that needs removing. Remove any preferences too, and
the alias that was put into your startup folder (without asking you
first! very unpolite installer).
After you remove the extension and everything else, you should be
AIM-free after the next restart.

About your second query, where Outlook Express wants to connect to
the Net even when you're just reading mail you've already collected.
This seems to be an Outlook Express 'feature'; I've heard about it
from Windows users, as well as Mac users.
As far as I can tell, the problem is that Outlook thinks it needs to
connect to hotmail when some part of the message isn't on your hard
disk. Maybe that part is just an ad banner, and isn't anything you
want to read, but OE sees an 'incomplete' message, and tries to
complete it for you.
You may need to explore a bit to figure out just how this is done,
but see if you can either set Outlook to download the entire email
(banners and all) to your hard disk, or persuade it to ignore things
like graphics. If you can do this, chances are it won't keep
insisting that you connect first.
As far as your query #1 goes, it should be quite simple to delete
large files (or files with large attachments) as long as they come to
your hotmail (or other web-based) mail account.
If your mail is on a POP3 server, it could depend on your ISP's
setup. If these people also allow you to see POP mail via a browser,
you may be able to get rid of stuff over a certain size. If they
don't, you could be out of luck.
No idea if any of this will really help, but I hope some of it does.

Tools/Accounts Click on Edit. Choose Options tab. Option there to set size
of files you are willing to download.

I really hate repeating it once more: Get Eudora 4.3 and forget
Outlook Express. Eudora 4.3 is free if you can live with a small
advertising window (or if you paid for an earlier version of Eudora
4.x).
In Eudora 4.3, you can instruct the application to just get some info
for messages over size xxx. Afterwards, you can decide to (a) get the
whole message, or (b) discard all and delete it from the server.

Before I answered your question, I quickly started up OE 5.0.2 and
could not find a setting. Maybe it's hidden somewhere deep down in
the preferences hierarchy?

If it helps, you can look into any POP mailbox using the ATDOT
script. If you have your own server, you can install it to allow this
feature to all your users; if you just want to check mail on your POP
mailbox on any provider, you can do this as well by using the script
on atdot's site: . There may be similar
utilities around, which I am not aware of.

Go to Versiontracker.com or Macupdate.com and download MailSiphon.
The latest version is 1.5.1. It is great program and easy to use. It
is what-ever-where instead of share-ware.

Items).

AIM didn't last more than one day on my computer either. Lots of Type 3
crashes. And I find that it is often app's that include an extension that
adds something to the menu bar that cause these types of crashes.
Anyhow, just do a Find File search for "AIM". From what I remember there
is an AIM extension that needs removing. Remove any preferences too, and
the alias that was put into your startup folder (without asking you
first! very unpolite installer).
After you remove the extension and everything else, you should be
AIM-free after the next restart.
