Subject: (A) Cube Can take two monitors
Dear Digest readers,
Actually the Cube can support a second display. It has two
video-out ports, the ADC and VGA port. Of course this means one
display has to be compatible with one connector, while one is with
the other connector. This according to Apple's own specs. Whether
or not that supports the concept of an extended desktop, I can't say.
But at least it does have two monitor compatible ports.

Subject: 512 meg PowerBook chips?
Some of the suppliers (Viking for one) are advertising 512 meg chips
said to fit into the upgrade slots for the G3 (Firewire) PowerBook
models. Apple's stuff says they top out at 256 with the ability to
address a TOTAL of 512.
Any one have any semi-official info if the 512's actually work?

Subject: Driver for Apple Scanner
I am still using the original Apple Scanner (circa 1990), one of those
products from the era when Apple hardware was built like the proverbial
brick - well, tough anyway. It still works perfectly, as I only need
occasional OCR scans, I'd like to keep it. I hate to junk stuff that is in
perfect working order.
My problem is a driver. The latest OCR doesn't recognise the Apple Scan
1.34 driver that powers the scanner. Is there a later Apple Scan driver I
can use which the OCR programs will recognise? I'd like to keep this
elderly beastie in occasional work with my beige G3.

lettered tiles. Anybody who bought a Performa 600, which came with a
