PCalc 2.0 is a new version of my veteran calculator application from
1992. It's a fully featured scientific calculator with support for
hexadecimal and binary calculations, that works on Mac OS 8 and later,
including Mac OS X.
By default, it uses a new Platinum appearance when running on Mac OS 8 or
Mac OS 9, an Aqua appearance when running on OS X, and the original look
is also available.
This release of PCalc is shareware, that means you can download it and
try it out for free, but if you like it and continue to use it you should
pay the US $10 registration fee.
There are two versions of PCalc included, PCalc Classic and PCalc Carbon.
PCalc Classic runs on any 68K or PowerPC Macintosh with any version of

Gentlemen:
Since downloading the paid version of Eudora 5.0, every time I open
the Address Book from either the Tool Bar or the Menu, I get a
"stall" and finally it opens. It is almost like the computer freezes
and then finally the Address Book opens. I have a G3 233 Desktop
runnning OS 9.0.4 with 128 MB of RAM. I have tried increasing the
memory for Eudora, but it didn't make any difference.
Any suggestions?

I connected a PB G3 to an hp 6MP using an Asante EtherNet adapter (or
was it a Farallon unit?) -- anyway, a straightforward adapter from the
printer to Ethernet --and had no problems.
I believe an Ethernet adapter may cost slightly more than a USB adapter,
but I generally try to put as many of my peripherals as possible on
Ethernet since my experience with Ethernet hookups has always been
totally positive, the speed may be higher, and the 10BaseT cabling is
very simple.
The printer and interface are at another location at the minute so I
can't check the actual model of adapter. Check with Asante to be sure
you get the correct on. As I recall if you only want to connect the PB
and the printer you can go straight from the interface unit to the PB
using a 10BaseT cable without needing an Ethernet hub, or if you have
more units on your Ethernet you can connect the interface to a hub along
with the Mac and other peripherals

My Epson-740 prints in a similar fashion from Netscape 4.73.
I found that if I _Preview_ before I print, I can see that it
will print that tiny image of the page. But if I then _Cancel_
the print job, and then _again_ issue the print command, it
Previews showing the page full size and prints properly.
Don't know why. (I'm running OS 9.0.4 on my iMac-DV-SE.)

Try Netscape 4.74 - I had similar problems printing from 4.73 to an Epson
600 (I think the pages came out even smaller than 3"x2"), but with 4.74
printing works normally.

Have you looked at the Page Setup settings? Does it say 100 in the
Reduce/Enlarge field and not 20 or something?

Gentlemen:
Since receiving Quicken 2001, every time I attempt to open "Insights"
from the "Activities" menu, my computer freezes and I have to force a
restart. I am not having any other problem with the program. I have a
G3 233MZ Desktop with 128MB of RAM. I have tried increasing the
amount of memory assigned to Quicken, but that had no effect on the
problem.
Any suggestions?

PCalc 2.0 is a new version of my veteran calculator application from
1992. It's a fully featured scientific calculator with support for
hexadecimal and binary calculations, that works on Mac OS 8 and later,

Gentlemen:
Since downloading the paid version of Eudora 5.0, every time I open
the Address Book from either the Tool Bar or the Menu, I get a
"stall" and finally it opens. It is almost like the computer freezes
and then finally the Address Book opens. I have a G3 233 Desktop
runnning OS 9.0.4 with 128 MB of RAM. I have tried increasing the
memory for Eudora, but it didn't make any difference.
Any suggestions?

I connected a PB G3 to an hp 6MP using an Asante EtherNet adapter (or
was it a Farallon unit?) -- anyway, a straightforward adapter from the
printer to Ethernet --and had no problems.
I believe an Ethernet adapter may cost slightly more than a USB adapter,
but I generally try to put as many of my peripherals as possible on
Ethernet since my experience with Ethernet hookups has always been
totally positive, the speed may be higher, and the 10BaseT cabling is
very simple.
The printer and interface are at another location at the minute so I
can't check the actual model of adapter. Check with Asante to be sure
you get the correct on. As I recall if you only want to connect the PB
and the printer you can go straight from the interface unit to the PB
using a 10BaseT cable without needing an Ethernet hub, or if you have
more units on your Ethernet you can connect the interface to a hub along
with the Mac and other peripherals

My Epson-740 prints in a similar fashion from Netscape 4.73.
I found that if I _Preview_ before I print, I can see that it
will print that tiny image of the page. But if I then _Cancel_
the print job, and then _again_ issue the print command, it
Previews showing the page full size and prints properly.
Don't know why. (I'm running OS 9.0.4 on my iMac-DV-SE.)

Try Netscape 4.74 - I had similar problems printing from 4.73 to an Epson
600 (I think the pages came out even smaller than 3"x2"), but with 4.74
printing works normally.

Have you looked at the Page Setup settings? Does it say 100 in the
Reduce/Enlarge field and not 20 or something?

Since receiving Quicken 2001, every time I attempt to open "Insights"
from the "Activities" menu, my computer freezes and I have to force a
restart. I am not having any other problem with the program. I have a
G3 233MZ Desktop with 128MB of RAM. I have tried increasing the
amount of memory assigned to Quicken, but that had no effect on the
problem.
