I am pleased to announce the release of Fuffy version 2.1.1.
Version 2.1.1 incorporates bug fixes in the Score Sheet and in
entering keyboard shortcuts. The Score Sheet can now only be shown in
a multi-player game, while command-keystrokes entered while the dice
are rolling no longer result in score entry into an inappropriate
category.
Fuffy is a simple yet addictive multiplayer dice game for the
Macintosh, similar to yahtzee, yatzee, kniffel or yacht. The aim of
the game is to make scoring combinations of dice, by selectively
rolling a set of five dice.
Features of Fuffy include: full 68K compatibility, multiplayer
capability (up to four players at one time), a hints function to help
you play, ability to undo your moves, keyboard shortcuts, a floating
Score Sheet, a Hall of Fame to record high scores, fun sounds, a

Enclosed is a copy of DragThing 2.9, to update Info-Mac with the
latest version. This multiple-language installer should replace any
existing English, French, German, Italian and Japanese versions of
DragThing on Info-Mac.
DragThing is an application dock designed to tidy up the icons littering
your desktop. Simply drag an application from the Finder onto an empty
square in a dock and then drag documents onto it as normal. In addition,
the docks can contain files, folders, disks, servers and URLs, and there
is also an option to display the currently running processes in a
special dock.
Version 2.9 adds support for drawing the docks in the style of the
current Theme or Kaleidoscope Scheme on 8.5 or later. This release
is packaged as a multiple-language installer with support for English,
French, German, Italian and Japanese.
DragThing is shareware, at $20 a copy, and is a free upgrade for
existing registered users.
DragThing requires at least System 7.5.5 (8.0 or later recommended) and a
Macintosh with a minimum of a Motorola 68020 or PowerPC 601 processor.
Storing URLs in docks requires the Internet Config extension to be
installed, version 2.0 or later.

Associates announced today the release of version 1.0 of a fun Macintosh
shareware game called States3000 (Windows version available soon).
States3000 is a new take on the classic hangman word guessing game we
all played when we were kids. It's the easiest way to learn about all 50
US States. It features colorful, non-violent graphics, digitized sounds,
synthesized speech, State pictures and information, and special options
especially designed for visually challenged users.
States3000 is "secretly educational". It's played for fun, but you can't
help learning. Included in States3000 is a new "knowledge area". This
area will include information associated with each of the States,
including a picture of the State and where it is located within the
United States. You'll also learn the names of the State Birds, Capitals,
Flowers, Nicknames and Trees.
States3000 includes Multi-Level Winning Streak Score Boards, allowing

What it does
Standard Maps displays the dynamics of several "area preserving"

SysEx is a free MIDI librarian program for the Macintosh. SysEx can
transmit and receive system exclusive (sysex) messages via MIDI and can
save and load these messages to and from disk.
SysEx now features user-configurable settings to specify a pause between
system exclusive messages when transmitting and to specify the receive
buffer size, which can now be as large as 1024 KB (1 MB) and as small as 64
KB.
SysEx requires a Macintosh computer with a 68020, 68030, 68040, or PowerPC
processor, System 7.0 or greater, and Opcode Systems' OMS (version 1.2 or
greater) or equivalent (some versions of Mark of the Unicorn's FreeMIDI,
including versions 1.34 and 1.35, can emulate OMS).

The Udana is a collection of short suttas, each culminating in a short
verse uttered by the Buddha. "Udana -- Exclamations of Buddha" randomly
generates one of those verses each time it is opened, making it a nice
addition to the Startup Items folder. Additionally, clicking on the
quotation will generate a new verse. The verses can be saved as text
files, and printed from the "File" menu.
Version 1.3 offers improved support for printing, and adds an "Edit" menu.
"Udana -- Exclamations of Buddha" is made available for free, as a gift
of Dhamma.

What are y'all using for FAX software these days? I once had Delrina
FAXPro Lite which came with a modem: baker's dozen worth of
extensions and control panels, never could get it to work reliably,
hated it. Later, I learned that the Apple Telecom software would
work with a serial modem so I loaded it and found it tolerable: easy
to use, and fewer patches to the OS, but very limited and klunky in
its ability to accept instructions passed along from other programs.
Now I use a PowerBook and I'll be damned if I want to haul around an
external serial modem just to be able to use Apple Telecom software!!
I'm looking for...
a) cheap--freeware, shareware, or inexpensive commercial software
b) plays nicely with the other S/W part I: an app rather than an extension
would be nice although I have no problems with an old-fashioned RDEV
(printer driver). Absolutely has to be able to FAX a document out from
whatever application created it, natively, rather than having to copy
and paste, or open as, or translate or, ::shudder:: retype it in some
kind of custom FAX Composer software.
c) elegant interface--FAXing should be as simple as printing from any
application that can print. Switch "printers" to the FAX driver and
to to File:Print. I do NOT want to have to put up with something
obtrusive like a FAX dock or a whole additional FAX menu in all my menu
bars! And I do not want to be forced to enter in the recipient's info
in a separate address book program I would not otherwise use before
being able to FAX to them!
d) plays nicely with the other S/W part II: At a minimum, an ability to
accept pasted input into FAX Number and FAX Recipient Name fields, and
preferably the ability to accept AppleScript commands to FAX a given
document to a recipient of FAX Number {variable} and FAX Recipient name
{variable}.
e) At least a limited capacity for spooling for the purpose of setting
up a series of documents each of which has a recipient list and
loading the series as a FAX run without additional user intervention
being necessary. The Apple Telecom S/W dealt well with jobs once
spooled (it would let you line them up and would redial them until
they went through) but you had to send each one manually.

Hi:
Hi. We (a network of about 100 Macs in a
University/Government biomedical research environment) are being
forcefully "migrated" to use PC/Wintel machines on our 10/100BaseT
Ethernet network. Many of us have refused (long story not worth
going into), and are shortly to be placed on a newly installed
gigabit-capable ethernet network. I am afraid that the IT admin (who
has professed that he *hates* all things Macintosh) will be using a
TCP/IP only strategy on the new network. This works fine for his NT
environment, but not too well for our older AppleTalk-based Macs.
The new "Network browser" that has arrived after OS 8.5 (I think)
works perfectly well for remote servers, and functions in a manner
that is very similar to our chooser under the "AppleTalk" listing,
but only the newest G4 machines show up under the "Local Services"
listing. My question is this: When we no longer have AppleTalk
running on our network, and have only TCP/IP based services instead,
will the G4 machines be the only machines that are displayed in our
Network browser? If so, why, and what can we do to make our large
crowd of iMacs and G3 beige models running under OS 9.0.4 function in
the same manner? Is there some software that we can install that
will give them TCP/IP based filesharing functionality like the G4s?
We have checked the box to enable Filesharing over TCP/IP in the
Filesharing control panel, but still only the G4s show up under Local
Services, the rest under "AppleTalk" which may soon be unavailable in
the new network.

Subject: NTFS vols larger than 2GB?
Hello,
I'm making a new AppleShare volume on a 60GB NTFS partition to be
accessed by Mac 8.6 users on an NT server. I get this error message:
"The volume you are about to create is larger than 2GB.
Some Mac clients may not function correctly if the size exceeds 2GB."
I could be wrong, but I thought this limitation was fixed in MacOS
8.1: does anyone know how to increase the size of the share (as Mac
users see it when they mount it), either by tweaking something on the
NT server or on the Mac clients?
