Alternatives Mac-wmrecorder??

WmRecorder is an application for Windows. It records a lot of video and audio streams, and such. I am willing to buy a Mac. But the maker of the application WmRecorder told me there is no Mac-wmrecorder. Are there alternatives?? As functional as the Windows WmRecorder??

I can't really be sure as I've never used wmrecorder? But you can find lots and lots of software for Mac at VersionTracker, MacUpdate, and CNET.

Searching those sites, I do see a lot of streaming audio recorders but not any video recorders per-se.

Depends on what you're trying to record. If you want to grab YouTube videos, there must be at least a dozen such apps, I happen to use the free MacTubes but literally there are at least a dozen competitors. One of the things I like about MacTubes is that it will grab EITHER the flash version (usually the lo-res version), the MP4 version ("higher quality") or even the HD version (if available).

For capturing other flash streams, there's Flash Video Downloader, xVideoServiceThief and many others. You might just want to go to MacUpdate.com and do a search on "capture" and see what comes up.

For audio, I particularly like the $32 Audio Hijack Pro. It may seem like a lot of money to capture audio -- at first -- but it's sooooo incredibly useful. I use it to capture from the BBC Radio 7 and Radio 4 programmes, and it has a scheduler so it can do this for you unattended. Captures audio from any app, so if you can hear it, it can capture it. The same people also make Radioshift, which I think is slightly cheaper, and more geared towards internet radio stations, but I already had AHP and use it constantly. There's another company that makes WireTap Studio, more expensive and does much the same thing as AHT but has some other benefits that might be important to you.

For free capturing of internet radio, you can try FStream, a great but kind of primitive/limited/basic program for making a list of your favourite stations, playing them and recording them.

You can use freeware Windows emulator called Wine to run Windows applications. I haven't managed to run WM Recorder using Wine, but Replay Media Catcher works good with it:
