SunPosition=81 v1.0
Sun Position and Shading Analysis Tool
SunPosition=81 will quickly and easily calculate and graphically indicate, i=
n
sectional view, the shading effects for an overhang of a user's design, for
any time, day, and location on earth. It will also calculate and display
sun path diagrams and position tables.
SunPosition=81 allows architects and building designers to evaluate many
overhang designs in a matter of minutes with much more convenience and
accuracy than the conventional sun path diagrams most designers now rely
on. SunPosition=81 has more
than 50 major cities in its database and new locations can be easily added
by the user. Solar, Standard, and Daylight Savings time systems are built
in.
Multiple shadows at two hour intervals can be displayed for overhangs, as
well as shadows cast on the ground plane by a 'gnomon' at one hour
intervals. Sun charts can be generated showing sun position in the sky at
one hour intervals. Shadow length and sun position data can be generated in
tabular form and saved as tab delimited text files for export to
spreadsheets and word processors. A 'must have' for any building designer
concerned with energy efficiency and comfort.
SunPosition=81 is also valuable to anyone who is affected by the changing
location of the sun: photographers, farmers, gardeners, solar heating
engineers, lighting engineers, amateur astronomers... the list goes on.
This demo can be upgraded to a fully functional version by sending $19.95
check or money order to us, and we will communicate the key code to you to
enable the city selection function. SunPosition=81 requires 1.6 MB of RAM,
system 6.0.4 or later and will run on a PowerMac.

Why wait for eight? Your Mac can have the Copland user experience today!
Just drop Aaron into your Extensions folder, and your Mac will look just
like the Copland Default Theme will (Aaron is based on Apple's official
Copland interface specs). Aaron gives you 3D Copland-style windows, scroll
bars, buttons, folder icons, menus, fonts, pop-ups, progress boxes, Finder

Subject: [*] Albrecht 101 - Los Alamos book exemplifies newton press outlining
Herein find an example of what newton press can do. The book I made
>From Albrecht's electronic research paper might not be interesting in
content, except to an expert in quantum mechanics interpretation, but it
best exemplifies what anyone can do with a latex program and newton press,
so I thought it might be appropriate here.
I might have put my own, much shorter, paper to Los Alamos up instead
for less bandwidth, but then you wouldn't see the outlining power of newton
press both needed and implemented.
For those experts amongst you, "naughtyword 7.1 is gooooooood".
So, here again is what I did in order illustrating how easy it is.
With textures, a typesetting program, I retypeset in the latex source
to produce pages the size of newton screen and then printed these to
picture-files with print to pict. Then I dragged ordered page-pictures in
folders into the newton press ap to get a book. Very easy. Then, I built an
outline to navigate in the book.
I can enjoy long dog walks in cool nights (here in hot day Dallas,
Texas) while reading science research on the new glowing mp130.

* What is it ? *
Collect HTML is an XTension for XPress 3.1 or higher that allows you to
convert text from Quark pages into HTML format.
- Styles can be converted into HTML pre- and suffixes. - Collect creates
GIF, JPEG or PICT previews from Quark pages or from text or picture boxes.
- You can put links to local or remote URL's on selected text from within
Quark; these links are stored within the Quark document for subsequent
collections.
Collect is not well suited to convert complete Quark pages; it better for
'clipping' articles from large pages (e.g. a newspaper) for Web
publication.
HTML is not as rich in features as Quark is, so do not expect a WYSIWIG
behaviour in HTML. Collect just tries to help you to create good-looking
HTML documents from Quark pages.
The demo version time limited in two ways: it is usable until the end of
December,1996, and each time disables itself 5 minutes after startup of
Quark.
* Pricing *
- 149 US$ single user version.
- 599 US$ 5-user version.
This XTension is for use with a valid, registered copy of QuarkXPress 3.1
or higher.

in your menu bar. It won't slow down your Mac and it shouldn't crash (but
use it at your own risk).
* There's only one smart use for MenuBall: since the ball moves one step at
each WaitNextEvent call, you can use it to monitor the system activity. If
it moves slowly, the front application is being friendly to other processes
and giving up a lot of processor time.
* MenuBall has a complete online documentation you can access with the
button in the control panel. You may save it as a text file and read or
print it with a text editor.
New in version 2.3.1:
- Updated documentation and recompiled with CodeWarrior 9.

Subject: [*] NeuroSim 1.0.1 - a freeware Mac app (fat binary)
This is a maintenance release which replaces the initial 1.0 release.
Description
NeuroSim is a simple neural net simulator. A neural net is formed by a
matrix of connected neurons. Every neuron has a state which is described
with an integer. Every neuron also has a border value, which equals the
number of connections starting from the neuron. When the state of the
neuron exceeds the neuron's border value, the neuron lights up and sends an
impulse to all the neurons it's connected to. The impulse increases the
state of every connected neuron by one. After lighting up the neuron's
state returns to zero.
NeuroSim allows the user to create new neural nets with specified
characteristics and to "play" with the nets by manually lighting up certain
neurons (known as receptors). There's also a demo mode...
System Requirements
* a Mac equipped with a 68020 or greater CPU
* MacOS 7.0 or later
* about 500 K of free RAM
* a color monitor
* ObjectSupportLib (only PowerMacs need this)

News4U is an AppleScript. It gets URL's pages in batch using Netscape

The URLs to get should be listed in a TEXT-file.
Prerequisites:
You need 1 thing, other than the standard AppleScript 1.1 installation
(included in system 7.5), to be able to use this script: Netscape

News4U is freeware and I don't even care for the copyright. But I'd be

Subject: [*] PictSort1.5 picture management utility
What is PictSort?
PictSort is very useful for sorting large number of pictures. For users who
spend a lot of time organizing pictures and other files downloaded from the
internet PictSort can help them save a lot of time by automating this
sorting process.
Features
PictSort has 4 major functions: Sort, Filter, Label Duplicates, Browse. You
can configure PictSort to activate these functions for batch processing of
files. Drop a folder with hundreds of pictures onto PictSort and let it
filter out unwanted files, label duplicate files and have PictSort look for
series of files with similar prefixes create sub-folders for them.
The new "Browse" function allows users to flip through picture previews and
redirect each picture to predesignated folders with a single key-stroke.

Power windows is a tiny extension that lets you drag the entire contents of
windows instead of a dotted outline. It also includes a "Translucent Power
Windows" variant that drags a partially transparent window. Unlike other
similar extensions, Power Windows uses backing store to preserve the
contents of the screen and avoid the "giant eraser" effect. Shareware $5.

those that use the standard window dragging routines.

Subject: [*] PowerXplorer 1.0.5J FAT (Japanese version)
PowerXplorer 1.0.5J is the Japanese version of Alessandro Levi Montalcini's
PowerXplorer 1.0.5.
NOTE: REQUIRES MATH COPROCESSOR OR POWER MACINTOSH
* PowerXplorer is a small application written to test the Power Macintosh
speed in native floating-point calculations. It draws the Mandelbrot set
and lets you explore it by zooming in and out at will.
* PowerXplorer is a FAT application: it contains code for both the 680x0
processors and the new PowerPC chip. The 680x0 code requires at least a
68020 and a 68881 coprocessor; it doesn't run on a 68LC040 because that
chip has no math coprocessor.
* PowerXplorer requires 256 colors (or grays) to display the images
properly; with thousands or millions of colors the image is correct, but
there's no color animation.
* PowerXplorer has a complete online documentation you can access with the
button in the main dialog. You may save it as a text file and read or print
it with a text editor.

unstyled documents.
* SimpleText Color Menu comes with a complete online documentation that can

SmoothType is a tiny extension that makes your screen look more like the
printed page. Using a technique called anti-aliasing, SmoothType blurs the
jagged edges of bitmap fonts with shades of gray, effectively doubling your
screen resolution. SmoothType requires a fast machine, a high resolution

Subject: [*] Spectrum Analyser 1.0
Spectrum Analyser is an application that shows the frequency content of the
audio data currently recorded by the sound input device you select. You can
choose to analyse any sound input available on your computer. Common ones
are the microphone, internal CD and AV connector. It makes use of real-time
signal processing algorithms to display the spectral data as the sound is
grabbed by the computer. It can be useful to musicians for tuning and
viewing the harmonic content of any instrument. Engineers and students who
need a Spectrum Analyser in the audio frequencies can also plug a wire
terminated audio jack in the microphone input and probe a circuit. Note
that because of the important number of mathematical computing required to
calculate spectra in real-time, Spectrum Analyser runs only on Power
Macintosh computers.

Subject: [*] WebSTAR Super Settings 1.0
WebSTAR Super Settings does several things.
- Duplicates almost all the functionality of the WebSTAR Settings file.
- WebSTAR Super Settings plug-in stores a backup listing of Suffix Mapping
entries, Allow/Deny tables, user defined Actions, Realms entries and Log
Format options in its own resource files. Thus if you ever trash your
WebSTAR Settings file, WebSTAR Super Settings plug-in will during the
launch of WebSTAR restore your Suffix Mapping entries, Allow/Deny tables,
user defined Actions, Realms entries and Log Format preferences to their
state.
- Contains a new more complete listing of Suffix Mapping entries for use
with WebSTAR. Includes predefined Suffix Mapping entries for Java,
JavaScript, Shockwave, DOS .EXE files, and many many more!
Installation
NOTE: Before installing you should copy down any custom settings or entries
that you may have in the Suffix Mapping, Allow/Deny, Actions, Realms or Log
Format screens as WebSTAR Super Settings will replace them.
Copy the WebSTAR Super Settings plug-in into the WebSTAR Plug-Ins folder.
Launch WebSTAR 1.3. Then using the WebSTAR Admin connect to your WebSTAR
server and notice the updated Suffix Mapping entries. From now on all
changes you make to the Suffix Mapping, Allow/Deny, Actions, Realms or Log
Format screens will automatically be saved in WebSTAR Super Settings. If
you ever have to trash your WebSTAR Settings file in the future, WebSTAR
Super Settings will auto-restore those settings.

Subject: help!!! Faxsoftware
Hi to all
Somebody knows whats wrong?
I have a SupraFax Modem 288, is a very fast and good modem, but since
I delete all the software it came whit (faxcilitate 1.7.2), and
reinstall the same software, the icon of the Fax extension at start up
shows up with a big X on it, when the Finder desktop shows up, there
is no icon at the menu bar, This icon is a little faxphone ( a popup
menu were I can configure the software and turn it of end on) I
already try everything, you name it!
1.- I reinstall systems 7.1, 7.5, 7.5 up date 2.0, and reinstalling
the Faxcilitate software with each one of them and work around it,
taking all the extensions, control panels and preference folder out of
the system folder and every thing that it might conflict with
Faxcilitate 1.7.2, and the icon at startup keeps on showing whit a big
X.
2.- When a go to the Chooser and double click the FaxPrint extension,
and then choose a modem port it shows this message ->
Please make sure the modem is connected to the modem port.
I click oK ( God! I already check the connections a few hundred
times!)
Then a second alert box comes and shows this message ->
Error In updating the settings information.
please check your connections and then turn the Fax Software
on.
Error = 2
(check the connections again? I cant turn the faxsoftware ON cos no
fax icon appears in my menu bar, so I double click the control panel
(FaxPreferences) so I can turn it ON from there, guess what! the
faxsoftware shows that is ON.
3.-I already rebuild the Desktop, Zap the Pram,I have already look for
invisible Docs, that my not let the FaxPrint or FaxMonitor load.
I can keep on numbering more things a have already done, I been
working on it for more than 4 days now
Days ago a friend disconnected the modemcable from his computer and
we think now it has the same problem cos his computer shows at start
up the icon with the big X on it. Does this happen with all the
Faxsoftware, he has a Motorola modem 28.000 bps.
Here are some tips that I have come with, maybe you can help me more
easily if you have this tips in mind.
My computer is a Macitosh IIci with a DayStar Turbo 040 ( it
upgrades my CPU 68030 --> 68040)it includes a built in Floating Point
Unit.
The connection to my Internet server is ok, (is the same Modem) is
the faxsoftware that is not loading at startup.
It already happen one time, but that occasion I just disconnect the
modemcable from my computer, and when a connect the modemcable to my
computer again
fix it throwing one by one all of my software, applications,
utilities, control panels, preferences docs, fonts, etc. until it was
just the Finder, the System (with no control panels, extensions, pref,
etc.), the faxsoftware Faxcilitate 1.7.2, and me, with my computer as
the scenario, Wolfenstein?.
I end up dead, I never found (the exit door From Wolfenstain Castle)
the problem, so in revenge I Erase my Hard Disk!!!! >:)
Next I reinstall the system 7.1 again, and then reinstall The
faxsoftware and.......
it was working again!!!!!!!
The problem is that now a have a lot of things, I just cant erase the
Hard Disk.
Does anybody knows what is wrong? does anybody have run in to the same
problem or something similar?
A will appreciate any comment on this problem, and thanks for your
time.
