Welcome to DropDate. This simple utility presents a one-month calendar in a

global floating window that can appear above the windows of any application.

You can change the year by pressing the UP and DOWN arrows and select the

month from a popup menu. It can, therefore, serve as a simple calendar on

your desktop.

However, DropDate does more than just show a calendar. You can drag-and-drop

the long form (with weekday, of course) of any date into any application

that accepts text drops by starting the drag from the desired calendar cell.

Why DropDate?

One of the minor annoyances of life is receiving a message announcing some

event on some date, such as "We will have a picnic on June 7, 2001." This

immediately sends the receiver looking for a calendar to find out what day

of the week June 7 falls on.

Wouldn¹t it be nicer if all senders took the trouble to put the weekday in

their messages? For instance, "We will have a picnic on Thursday, June 7,

2001." A few do this, but sometimes end up making mistakes that result in

further, "Oops!" messages.

I wrote DropDate to help me be a good citizen-communicator. Entering the

date with correct weekday is as simple as dragging the desired date and

dropping it in the target window.
