no more upgrades for iPhone 3G

Have only just realized this! Does this mean my iPhone will become unusable or insecure? Thanks
It means it will be exactly preserved in it's final iOS 4.x state until you buy a new iPhone. As time progresses the world will progress beyond the point of your iPhone 3G's ability - websites will load slower, apps will no longer be compatible.
