I am Confused and enraged at the fact of no symbol for cents on the iPod touch's keyboard

There isn't one on a standard desktop keyboard either. Its usage is frowned upon. The proper way to write it is $0.87, not 87¢. Too many people confuse the usage of the old cent symbol, writing things like .87¢ (one 87th of a cent) or $0.99¢.

On the desktop keyboard <option> <4> produces the cent symbol.

But that means it requires a Mac-specific key combo to produce it! Thankfully Mac OS X special character key combos are super easy. What is it on a PC keyboard?

In MS Office products the cent symbol is produded with <control><forward-slash><c>. In all Windows applications the cent symbol can be produced by holding down <alt> and typing "155". Holding down the <alt> key and typing the ASCII key code (on the numberic keypad) in Windows will generate that character. That method of producing special characters also works in Linux, and UNIX, and I imagine it could be used in MacOS X terminal applications as well.

Yes it does, as well as ¥ (Japan) and ₩ (Korea).

There IS a cent symbol on the iPhone (and so it must be on the iPod too). Tap and hold the Dollar sign an there it is.

Sure the windows way is easier but only if you are running windows. But on my iPhone I tried pressing and holding $ and got $ so what do you do?

I was making a joke. Option-3 produces the cents symbol on a Mac - much quicker than Winblows.

I don't think there is a cents symbol on the iOS devices, sorry.

To theHalo: I don't have a cents symbol on my iPhone using the hold-dollar sign trick. I'm on 3.13.

If you hold the dollar sign down it's the first option. It will be preselected and blue.
