hello all,im hoping to get some help here as im desperate!
i am currently using a macbook which is running osx 10.4 (tiger) i think.
but i have an external piece of hardware (mixing desk) that i wish to connect to my macbook, but when i inserted the installation disk, and tried to install, i got an error message.
apparently the hardware device can only be used on the mac OS/9.2 platform!
ive been doing alot of reading about possibly setting up a 'DUAL BOOT'so my macbook can access either the osx or 9.2 operating system. the question is how do i get hold of this??..and furthermore ive seen loads of adverts on sites for OS/9.2.1 & OS/9.2.2..??but not OS/9.2!i realise that the first two are latter versions of the original, but will they work as the manual states 9.2??

You cannot run Mac OS Classic (Mac OS 1-9) or any Classic software on any Intel Mac, period (not counting extremely unstable and unusable workarounds). The dual booting you refer to applies only to PowerPC G4 and G3 Macs from 1998 - 2003ish. You'll have to seek out Mac OS X compatible software to use.
First question: What is the make and model of your mixing desk.
Second, have you tried using it with DJ or music software without installing drivers? Apps like
GarageBand and
DJ Mixer Pro typically just recognize these devices without using any drivers. What software do you plan to use with this piece of hardware? Certainly not whatever came on your ten year old disk I hope...

Yamaha Studio Manager Software should talk to your 01V. It's free from the Yamaha site in your country

yamaha studio manager is on the original installation disc,so that isnt a problem...but if i install it independently, how will it work with my macbook without the mlan drivers software??

If your disc came with Mac OS 9 drivers then it's pretty old and it's likely the version of Yamaha Studio Manager on it is also extremely old and may or may not even run on your computer and if so, under Rosetta emulation which is less than ideal (to put it mildly). You shouldn't use any hardware manufacturer-supplied software discs for anything, especially ones that are like 10 years old. Download the current versions of the software online or buy newer software.
