OpenGL Profiler Update for OS X 10.4.11

Post by nkline » January 18th, 2010, 1:58 am

Hi,

MY ENVIRONMENT:

MacBookPro (MacBookPro3,1)
Mac OS X 10.4.11
2.4 GHz
2 GB Memory
GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB
Xcode 2.5
OpenGL Profiler 3.4 (78)
Second Life 1.23.5 (136262)

THE PROBLEM:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/MacBook ... Workaround

The article says to download the OpenGL Profiler Update under Downloads > OpenGL at connect.apple.com. However, that download no longer exists.

Using the OpenGL Profiler Update has fixed the Second Life crash problem for me in the past. Since I've reformatted my MacBook Pro recently, and I cannot locate the update, I'm back to the problem described in the article above.

When I do attempt to use the version of OpenGL Profiler installed with Xcode, I receive this message:

"OpenGL Profiler Version Incompatibility

This version of OpenGL Profiler is known to have incompatibilities with your updated OpenGL framework. You may continue to use this application but some functionality may not work properly. Would you like to quit now or continue using OpenGL Profiler?" Quit or continue?

... and Second Life eventually crashes, along with my OS, as described in the article above.

THE QUESTION:

Does anyone have a copy of the OpenGL Profiler Update for OS X 10.4.11 or know where I can download it?

In frustration,

Nick :-)

I don't have an answer (yet) for exactly what you're asking, but you know Snow Leopard is $29 retail right?

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MAC_O ... TM3NDk2Nzg

Ignore that "Snow Leopard is an upgrade for Leopard users" bit. That's nonsense - you can still format and clean install Snow Leopard with the $29 disc. I don't know why it's worded like that. If that's been a cause for hesitation for anybody, just forget that and buy it.
I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do.
