I was searching on the web to find a good disc cleanup user to clear up my junk files, and found a couple of different ones like idefrag and clean my mac. I know that both of these devices can pretty much do the same thing and are the same price, but is one any better than the other?

It's really not something thats terribly necessary on your Mac, especially if you had just recently purchased it. It doesn't come from Apple with "junk" files in the same sense that PCs often come with a plethora of worthless demo applications. Also, typically on a Mac programs are entirely self-contained. There aren't rogue DLL files spread all over and registry edits to correct on the Mac.

Some common steps people take to free up disk space revolve entirely around removing language translations and printer files. Well, thankfully Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" resolves the printer driver issue by simply downloading whatever printer drivers you need automatically. However, it's not a good idea to remove language translations after you've installed the operating system (which it will have come already installed obviously). This is best done during the install process, when the option is presented to either install or not install the language translations.

Removing them later has become notorious for causing problems for thousands of people.
