I was somewhat disappointed that the Macterminal documentation did not
have much technical info. In particular, a list of codes that the
various keys send when emulating a VT100. In most cases, one can assume
they are the same as in the VT100 manual. However, does the Mac emulate
the "newline" key on the vt100? One can send a "Command-J", however
that is somewhat of a kludge. I have not found any other way to do it-
has anyone else? This is needed since with our system we go through
a protocol converter which makes a VT100 emulate a 3270 which is used
to access an IBM 4381. I can't use the 3270 emulation in the Mac because
the configuration expects 3270's to be connected directly to the IBM
while all other terminals go through a LAN to the protocol converter.
Thus there is no conversion for a 3270. If this sounds confusing its
because it is.
