Since the disk drive motor is shut off with a software timeout,
it can remain on "forever" if you hit a breakpoint in macsbug
while it's spinning. Bruce Horn offers this advice:

Yep, you're right, it's timed in software.
The address to kill the motor is the IWM, DFF1FF.
Just do a DM DFF1FF in the debugger and it should turn the thing off.
