MacWrite files saved as "Entire Document" (as opposed to "Text Only") will
appear to have garbage characters mixed in. These are MacWrite's formatting
characters, and will go away if you explicitily save the file as Text-Only,
using Save As... from the file menu. If this is not your problem, get in
touch w/ me as I have successfully read from MacWrite (Text-only) documents.
