Subject: [*] Peach 1.0

Peach helps you create sinc impulse responses and common types of windows.
Peach probably is not very useful if you have no idea what a sinc function
or an impulse response is and is intended as a help for anyone studying or
preparing FIR filters. In Peach , you create sinc impulse responses by
starting with a low pass or high pass sinc kernel and then manipulating it
in various common ways like spectral inversal , spectral reversal and
convolution. Peach can also apply Bartlett, Blackman, Hamming, Hanning,
Kaiser, Lanczos, minimum 4-term, Nuttall, Parzen, Truncated Gaussian, and
Welch windows and graphs the time domain , step response and magnitude and
phase of the impulse response.

System requirements:
-MacOS 8.5 or later
-Any version of QuickTime
-8Mb of free RAM

Subject: [*] Sherlock Nobanners - Mac OS 9.1-Z (International English)

This is a simple ResCompare patch that removes all banners from Sherlock
version 3.0.2, included with OS 9.1-Z (International English). The
patch will only work with Sherlock 3.0.2. To remove banners from
earlier versions, download the other editions of Nobanners.

Most banner programs simply alter the search plugins in your system
folder; this one modifies three resources in the Sherlock application
itself, displaying only gray space instead of an obtrusive banner. If
you would rather make the modifications yourself, you can use Metrowerks
Constructor.

Use this program at your own risk. I am not responsible for the
consequences. This program is free and may be distributed on all media
for non-profit use only. For-profit users should contact the author.

Subject: [*] SwitchBack 3.4

SwitchBack 3.4 by Glendower Software Ltd, a popular
file synchronization and backup utility. This version has been carbonized
for MacOS X.

SwitchBack makes it easy and safe to synchronize two disks, so that both
contain your most recently updated documents. Simply choose two folders to
compare, and SwitchBack does the rest, quickly and painlessly.

SwitchBack has been widely used since 1992.

Subject: [*] SwitchRes 2.5.2J - Japanese Version

This is the Japanese version of the SwitchRes package.

Rated 5 Cows (highest rating) at Tucows!

What's new in this version:

* SwitchRes no longer displays the "1x1" resolution in the list
* Solved a bug with MacPortrait driven monitors

SwitchRes is a little utility that will allow you to switch the
resolution of all your monitors . You can access to all the resolutions
of all your displays in a simple, customizable menu. SwitchRes
incorporates features from the Monitor Resolution, Monitor BitDepth, and
Video Mirroring Control Strip Modules bundled with your system. You can
use its menu in the Menu Bar, use its provided Control Strip Module, or
click on the Finder Desktop with its Contextual Menu Plugin.

SwitchRes has an extensive list of features:

* You can show and use all available resolutions of your video card,
not just those limited by your monitor. For example, 20 video modes are
available on my PowerMac 7300 internal video board. Enjoy your Apple 15"
monitor in 1024 x 768, or 640 x 480 in 120Hz !
* SwitchRes is totally configurable. You can define which resolutions
are really accessible, and which will require a confirmation.

* You can also create display sets which will allow you to change the
resolution and the depth of all your monitors with just one mouse click,
or just one key. With this new version, you can add scripts to display
sets. That gives SwitchRes the ability to launch a script with just one
key, or when an application is launched...
* You can assign a specific set to an application , so that every time
you use this application, your Mac will automatically switch to your
predefined resolutions. You will find this extremely useful for most
games.

* You can save the position of the icons and the windows on your
desktop, independently from one resolution to the other, unlike the
Finder. The configuration is restored at startup.
* You can script SwitchRes for resolutions and color depth changes.
SwitchRes is even recordable: When SwitchRes is running, every
resolution change is automatically recorded in the script editor

Subject: [*] Weather 2.2 - A utility for role-playing games

Weather is a weather-generating system for any role-playing game. It is useful for
fantasy and SF authors, too. It lets you quickly add realistic weather and other
background information to your game or story. You can easily create custom calendars
and weather patterns to suit multiple campaign worlds. Weather 2.2 is an update from
Weather 2.1: it adds the ability to print cards, new keyboard shortcuts, improvements
to calculations and display, and updated contact details.

Weather is a HyperCard stack that can be used on any Macintosh computer with HyperCard
or the HyperCard Player, version 2.1+. At least a 68040 Mac and PowerBook-sized screen
are recommended. Full help is included in the stack.

Weather 2.2 is freeware, and may be freely distributed unaltered, with accompanying
files, on CD-ROMs or anything else.

Subject: Help! PowerMac 7200 Needs New Stuff!

Dear Mac Experts,

My husband just brought my old PowerMac 7200 (OS
7.6.1) down from the attic to use with his music
composition software. We have another new PC (sorry)
so we hoped to revive the PowerMac as a second
computer. To our horror, we can't find a mouse or
printer that works with our ports and plugs as the
connectors have apparently changed (as if we moved to
a foreign country!). Any recommendations as to where
we could buy some used peripherals for this PowerMac?
Catalogs, websites, stores? (We're in Boston.) We're
looking to replace the mouse and the HP DeskWriter 520
printer, for starters. Man, this machine sure got old
in 5 years. Hope we can still use it. I know it has a
lot of life left in it, I was using for work until
just a few mos. ago. BTW we don't need it for
Internet, just to run the music notation software.

Thanks,
Heidi and Greg

P.S.: Please reply to us via email if possible as I
don't subscribe to the digest. THANKS!!!
