ChordCompanion v2.0

ChordCompanion is a chord utility that is powerful yet simple to use.

ChordCompanion lets the user design chord on a virtual guitar neck. It can
analyse chord and suggest names for them or it can display chord formation
from chord names. All this is done using a musical theory engine, not a
database of known chords. Therefore, there are no limitations on chord
formations that can be processed or suggested.

ChordCompanion runs on 68k or PPC Macintoshes (two separate programs - keep
the one you need - saves space on your hard disk). Requires system 7.0 or
higher.

Subject: [*] DOCMaker v4.8

DOCMaker gives you the Macintosh user powerful tools for creating
self-contained and self executing multi-media documents containing
graphics, information, and links to other software and information. By
incorporating QuickTime Video, sound, AppleEvents, "Hot Picture Buttons"
and more, documents that you create can become an exciting multi-media
experience for your readers. No other software is needed by the reader
to open, print, and fully experience your documents. The "viewer engine"
is embedded into the documents to make distribution and use a simple and
easy process. Depending on the optional capabilities you save with your
documents, the actual size of the documents can be very small.

Companies such as Federal Express, GTE, Hewlett Packard, IOmega, Adobe,
Apple Computer, and Aladdin use DOCMaker to distribute disk-based
documentation with their products. Flexibility and ease of use make
DOCMaker the better choice for multi-media document distribution.
DOCMaker is much easier and economical to use for the author of
documents, and infinitely less complicated for the end user of the
documents than the alternatives.

Award winning publications such as MacSense and Inside Mac Games are
produced Monthly using DOCMaker and distributed electronically and on CD
Rom. Many users have found DOCMaker very helpful at their workplaces where
networks are utilized because the documents are self executing and can be
read by anyone connected to the network without requiring expensive
software and without sacrificing server disk space.

DOCMaker gives you the ability to use multiple fonts, styles, and color.
You may name frequently used text formats and use them whenever needed.
QuickTime movies and sound may be attached to "Hot Pictures" which act
like buttons within the document. Other picture actions include the
ability to send AppleEvents so that you can attach World Wide Web home
pages to document pictures. When these pictures are clicked on, the
users web browser may be invoked to go to a specific page on the
Internet! Speed and ease of use has not been compromised and we hope
that DOCMaker will become a familiar and frequently used part of your
Macintosh software library.

Edit JFIF Comment lets you view and modify the textual comments
included in JFIF files (more commonly known as JPEG files). Doing so
doesn't modify the compressed image data, which means that the tool is
quick and lossless. Besides, it is scriptable, so it can be used to
modify many files at once.

Version 1.0.4 no longer limits the comment's length to 255 characters

Engineering Assistant, is an invaluable scientific and engineering
utility that provides three powerful utilities for users of the MacOS.

With Engineering Assistant, you will never need to grab for your
calculator to make quick conversions or even pull out your manuals to
find a material property, constant or formula. Engineering Assistant
provides an easy and convenient method for storing and retrieving all
this important information for you. All three utilities feature simple,
yet powerful editing capabilities so that you can add, delete, or modify
its contents. With Engineering Assistant you can have an unlimited
number of conversions, frequently used constants, and formulas easily
accessible. If after 30 days you feel you can use the software, please
send in the registration fee.

If you find that you use Engineering Assistant, please take the time to
send in the shareware fee for each copy that you need. If you really
look at the public domain and shareware products available for the
MacOS, you'll see a tremendous wealth of interesting, fun, enlightening
and useful packages. Those packages would not be there if it weren't
for the inquisitive and hard-working, independent 'hackers' among us who
just can't see why a computer has to be difficult, or expensive, to be
good. You may review Engineering Assistant for a period of 30 days, at
which time you should pay the registration fee for continued use, or
stop using the software. Please honor the shareware policy, and thanks
for your support!

INFOMaker is an easy to use utility application which will format data to
be used in the MacOS. The data to be formatted can be from other
computer systems (PCs, mainframes, etc.) or from other MacOS
applications. The program has been used extensively to convert database
information from VAX, UNIVAC, IBM, and CRAY mainframe computers and a
multitude of different micro computers. The ability of INFOMaker to
handle a wide variety of input file formats including multi-line records
makes it a versatile tool to users who manage information on the MacOS.

INFOMaker will place all fields of a record in order on one line,
separate them with tabs, strip control characters, strip leading and/or
trailing spaces, insert information for missing data, remove any unwanted
data, and set the file CREATOR so that the data can be loaded directly
into an application.
It is shareware, and please send in the fee if you continue to use it.

Subject: [*] InstantInit 1.1 - disk formatting utility

InstantInit is a very small application designed to initialize disks in
the shortest possible time, which ranged from 1 to 3 seconds in tests
that we conducted. Your actual performance time may vary, but it'll be
fast! No more waiting forever to initialize your disks -- InstantInit
offers virtually "instant" initialization!

InstantInit requires a Macintosh Plus or later with a FDHD or SuperDrive
and System Software 7.0 or later. InstantInit is a fat binary
application, which means that it will run normally on a 68k Macintosh,
as well as accelerated native on a Power Macintosh!

The latest version of InstantInit (1.1) includes the capability to
change the default name of an initialized disk.

Subject: [*] Respond! 1.0a1 - preemptive multitasking

Respond! is a control panel that brings a limited form of preemptive
multitasking to the Macintosh right now. And it runs on any Mac, 68k or
PowerPC, with System 7.0 or later. No more waiting for Copeland or
Rhapsody. Even in Mac OS 8, if you hold down a menu in the Finder,
processes will not continue in the background. With Respond!, you can be
holding down a menu (particularly useful with Sticky Menus in Mac OS 8),
or clicking in a the zoom or close boxes (or the WindowShade collapse
box in Mac OS 8), or dragging a window or the thumb of a scroll bar, and
processes will continue in the background.

Mac OS 8 attempts to implement live scrolling, but it only works in
Finder windows, and does not allow background processing to continue.
Respond! includes a Live Scrolling option which fully enables Live
Scrolling for applications that don't implement it themselves and also
allows both foreground and background processing to continue when
scrolling with any part of the scroll bar, including the arrows.

Respond! also includes the option to use Live Window drag. When this
option is turned on, the full window, not just the outline, will be
dragged, and both foreground and background processing will continue,
meaning the window itself will be updated as its being dragged around!
For example, you can drag around an mp3 player window and watch as it
continues playing and updating the time counter while moving.
