I have talked to the people at First Byte about SmoothTalker. They have two
royalty plans for developers who incorporate smoothtalker into products.
Plan A: $6000 + 3% first year gross + 1% annual gross thereafter
Plan B: $0 + 6%first year gross + 3% second year gross + 1% annual gross after
They promist telephone support for developers along with source code for the
$500 license fee.
They appear to have made no special rules for Universities. Perhaps if
enough of us suggest it to them they will think about an educational
discount policy.
(By the way, they were very responsive over the phone and sent out material
they promised me immediately.)
