The Apple carrying case for the Mac will fit exactly (i.e. you have to cram
it in) in the overhead rack of a DC-9. It will fit slightly better in the
overhead rack of a 727. I can't imagine it fitting under any economy class
seats, but I've heard that it does fit under first class seats (I wouldn't
know from experience). It ought to fit in the bottom of a closet if
you're nice to the flight attendants.
I'll report on the 737 situation if I have to ride one on the return trip.
