I've had numerous problems with cheap ribbons on the ImageWriter;
this note is just a warning, to save others from the same. Examine
the splice (where the ends of the ribbon are joined to make a loop
continuous) carefully; two ribbons I got from Global Computer Supplies
(of Plainview, NY) had bad misalignments which caused the topmost pin
of the dot matrix to jam. If the splice is too broad or uneven, you
will also suffer from a diagonal light- or un-printed zone every few
pages of output. Cheap ribbons are no bargain! - z
