Purge OSL 1.0.4

Low level stuff to examine and control your Mac. Hardware and software configuration reporting, speed testing, extension managers, startup managers, memory managers, fpu emulation, system monitors, screen resolution & depth, keyboard configuration, volume control. (Not for typical system or control panel extensions.)

Purge OSL 1.0.4

This script checks for the presence of the ObjectSupportLib library
(OSL) in the Extensions folder of any disk. Under Mac OS 8 or newer, it
provides the option to remove it. Under System 7.x, it warns of the
absence of OSL, or the presence of an obsolete version. The script was
written to deal with the fact that many software installer packages
install OSL even though it should not be present under Mac OS 8 or newer
(because a more recent version of OSL is already in the System file),
and also to deal with the fact that many packages install older,
defective versions of OSL over the most recent version.

Purge OSL requires AppleScript, the scriptable Finder and the standard
Apple Choose File and Display Dialog scripting additions. Earlier
versions of Purge OSL have been tested with AppleScript 1.1 and System
7.6 and AppleScript 1.1.2 and Mac OS 8.0. Version 1.0.4 has been tested
with AppleScript 1.1.2 and Mac OS 8.1, and it is believed that it will
compile and run under earlier versions.

Version 1.0.4 now works correctly with OS 8.1
