In my iPod settings, you can choose to either set double home click to home, music or search. Does it mean that my iPod cannot multi-task?

Hmmm.... Maybe there's something wrong with your iTunes. It didn't happen to me when I update my iPod Touch. Why not try to send a letter to Apple to inform them? I am sure they can help. Hope you can get your app back. >.<

Is there an app or method that can connect other phones (eg.Sony Ericsson) with iPod, iPhone or iPad?

iPhone and run several apps at once? If yes, then that's so good..... Because I only have a iPod Touch which can only run one app at once. =(

I really admire those with lots of iDevices and pity those with none but wants some. Anyway, I only have a iPod Touch 2G and I really love it! =)
